Hiya wondering if someone can give advice. I submitted a COC which was scanned on 12/05 to claim the mobility part for my 3 year old daughter, submitted loads of evidence. Her claim is due to end 19/12 this year and I received her renewal forms in the week. What happens when there’s both a COC and renewal to process? Do they do them together? Thanks x

You need to send the renewal back otherwise they will not renew your current claim. Make sure you complete the mobility part of the claim too and put a note in the space for extra notes etc saying you have notified them of the change, with the date etc.
As the wait times for coc's are so long I would expect they would do both together... which ever one gets to the front of the queue first!

Hello,

I have applied for DLA for my 14 year old son due to a referral from school and GP for ADHD. Sent the forms in May with all the details. Called Wednesday afternoon and was told a decision was made that afternoon and to wait for the letter ( I know the letter will take ages! I already get DLA for my daughter) they obviously wouldn’t tell me over the phone but if accepted should I not be able to see a pending payment? I’m with Monzo and can see DLA and CB payments a few days before. Maybe I’m expecting a payment too soon? I’m just worried it’s been refused and we will have to re apply.

has anyone else phoned the day a decision was made and remember how long the process took after? Also can u I call Monday and ask to speak to someone to tell me more?

thank you ☺️

I’m with Monzo too, I agreed, if it was sent Wednesday it should be showing as pending by now, the payment should clear Monday. I would call them to double check Monday it may just be they was late sending money over?

Yes I agree, I’ll call Monday. I knew it would be harder for my son especially as he’s almost 15. Not much evidence I could get other than gp and school referral. Thank you I’ll call Monday and no doubt have to re apply!

Thank you. I posted renewal back yesterday. I made sure to write that there is currently a COC in progress too and that all relevant evidence was sent with the COC

NC SD: 28th May 2025
i have recently done a new claim for my son who has suspected ASD and on the pathway currently.
Since sending the forms off he has suffered from a grand mal seizure with no triggers he was intubated as it went on for over an hour. He will now be investigated for epilepsy and I’ve been given emergency midazolam in the event of another. He also is having eeg and mri in due course. Is it worth sending off paperwork for this on his claim?? As they have said it could just be a one off so now I don’t really know where I stand until further testing. Any advice will be gratefully appreciated.

I would send any letter you have received regarding his seizure and a covering letter explaining what has happened and that further tests etc are required and this is currently ongoing.
Please remember DLA is how much care a child needs over and above a normal child.
Below is that requirement from GOV.UK and the link:

The child’s disability or health condition
The child’s disability or health condition must mean at least one of the following apply:

  • they need much more looking after than a child of the same age who does not have a disability
  • they have difficulty getting about
They must have had these difficulties for at least 3 months and expect them to last for at least 6 months.

Thank you! I forgot about it needing to be ongoing for 3 months so I will maybe wait and see what the testing shows in due course.

The wait is so frustrating. Surprising until around week 23 I was fine as I knew it would take ages but last week I’ve been really antsy about it! Let me know what you say on the phone , surely it can’t be too long for you x

SD for MR 03/02.

Called this morning and its still not even been assigned to a DM. This is nuts how long it is taking. I don't know how they can justify the length of time and the fact that they are awarding new claims that haven't been waiting anywhere near as long, when the MRs have now been waiting a YEAR since the original scan date.

On the plus side, I called dot on 9am and got straight through
