How is everyone?

This week has been hectic, I feel like I am going to meet myself coming back IYSWIM, Grin

But ds had first visit to 'big school' left there for 45 mins with portage teacher. and did brill!

Also music sessions are going really well.

and my best friend is moving 2 mins walk away from me, (rather than 25 mins drive, hurrah!!!! )

I am on the Wine althou it is white not red.

and I have decided to loose a stone by the time ds goes to school. (yeah I know thats a really wimpy target, but there are a lot of stones to loose Blush and I want something that feels do-able and not another burden.)

oh, envious - no wine here at all. sob ... but at least there's chocolate!

DS2 is currently alternating between sobbing, screaming, and arguing with his brother between rooms. The sobbing and screaming is because one of his toy story 3 toys broke today (I'll have to either fix it or replace it .. sigh). It could be a long night.

Hi Sign :)

Crappy week for me.....

Monday night - blue light ambulanced to A&E as I couldn't breathe. I'm still waiting for my private consultant to find out what sort of imaging I need to find out what is wrong with me :(

Wednesday - got it confirmed that DS is probably on the spectrum - it was very clear that the Paed thinks he is but she has to rubber stamp with the MDA.

Sounds like you have had a great week. Shame I can't join you on the Wine. Will have to have Brew instead

Ben10isthespawnofthedevil · 13/05/2011 18:58

Oh Triggles - not a Toy Story 3 toy. That would be a nightmare :( How many times have you watched the DVD. I have managed to keep it to just 2 - THIS WEEK

signandsmile · 13/05/2011 18:58

am sending you virtual chocolate triggles that sounds like it will be difficult, why do these things happen just at the time we can't fix them/get new ones, Hmm

Sorry to hear that you've had a bad week Ben
Cheers everyone! Wine

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 13/05/2011 18:59

Good name for the thread, sign, hopefully more people will find it!

Exciting visit for little sign, glad it went well. I'll diet one day....

Busy week here, Y6 SATs for DS2 who has survived them. The literacy short writing task was not fun, he was crying and shouting for his TA to help him, but the rest weren't too bad, he actually liked the calculator maths one.

It was his last annual review at primary school today. We said goodbye to his lovely advisory teacher as his secondary has a different one. Transition plans are good, 3 hour long visits and 3 whole day ones with his TA to begin with. It's looking positive.

A week until his residential week with raft building and abseiling etc. I'll panic next weekend. Grin

I thought I'd take this chance to say HI to everyone(before my DD comes home with her friend and takes over the computer)

Big school visit sounds good- Oh TRIGGLES,my DS thinks I can fix everything-I know where you're coming from

We are all o.k here-Lots of tantrums this week, but having nice evening-I think I am sorting stuff with school and his amended statement has lots of good provision-just got to get someone to look at it before I sign!

I have wine if anyone want to pass a glass to be filled and I think I'm going to make a veg curry Smile

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 13/05/2011 19:04

Gosh, Ben10, you kept that bit quiet. Hope you're all better, as they say.

Toy Story, aaargghhh. DS1's first 2 word phrase was 'two Buzzes' for Toy Story 2. We watched 1 and 2 literally hundreds of times, sometimes 3 times a day.

signandsmile · 13/05/2011 19:04

I have choc fudge cake. to share. dh could see how stressed I was by all the running about and came home with one, bless him! Grin

Hello everyone.

I have felt so tired all week and made so many phone calls I cant keep track of them all. I thought I had a phobia of making phone calls until this week sorted that out.

I discoverd Hop Skip and Jump in Bristol which is the most amazing place ever. Its a special needs play centre which is free. Free cups of tea. Free cakes. Free people to help play with your children, to advise parents, free massage for parents. I felt so at home and DS was so happy, he went off playing on his own which he never ever does. They had two sensory rooms and it was lovely to take NT baby in there who normally gets ignored. She loved it.

No wine here. Have given up wine, tv, caffeine, everything really. Very silly idea!

Triggles · 13/05/2011 19:06

Ben10 - sorry you've had such a horrible week - hope you're feeling a bit better today! And we've watched it at least once a day during the week, and more on weekends. In fact, I saw the sheet at the local cinema that the £1 movie was Toy Story 3 tomorrow, so was all happy as we can try DS2 at the cinema. Went online to double check time, and it's not listed. So am a bit Hmm. He absolutely loves toy story.

signandsmile god knows - I think toy manufacturers do it on purpose. evil trolls! there's a "self destruct at the worst possible time" button on them, I'm sure of it! Mr Tumble is quite popular here as well. Both DS2 & DS3 sing that "hello hello" thing all the time.

"EllenJaneisnot* - thank goodness SATs are done for your DS2 then - must have been so stressful! Ooooh - a residential week - sounds exciting, but I can imagine as a parent it would be completely panic-inducing!! Eeeek!

SauvignonBlanche · 13/05/2011 19:07

My news is that DS is going away with school on Monday. I'm not sure where he's going, I don't know who's leading the trip, I haven't had a meeting with anyone,I don't know if any of the specialist ASD TAs are going but I'm perfectly calm about it all. Grin (Before the Wine as well)
I never thought I'd get to this!

intothewest · 13/05/2011 19:08

WOW Smug-wish we had something like that here (especially the free massage for parents!)

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 13/05/2011 19:09

Wine for me please, intothewest. Pass over the Statement, I'll look at it for you!

Just having my Friday takeaway. Chinese this week, but homemade veg curry sounds nice, especially if it's made in someone else's home!

signandsmile · 13/05/2011 19:10

ah you have reminded me about the cinema... I am gonna try my ds on the cheap sat session. I think he will only last 20 mins or so, but it's worth a try. working tomorrow and next sat, but will bear in mind....

ah, hark! the sound of child needing their bum wiped.... back in a few mins

OP posts:
Triggles · 13/05/2011 19:13

intothewest good idea to have someone look it over - I'll have to have that too when (if ever) we get to that stage.... I'm waiting impatiently Grin

smugtandemfeeder - wow that does sound nice! Bristol is about an hour from us, so a bit far at the moment. But I'll certainly keep it in mind if we are ever in that area! Given up wine, tv, and caffeine??? But why?? I'm pretty sure you're REQUIRED to indulge in at least one of those daily. Isn't it a law? Hmm Grin

Yeah, the toy broken is the Jesse doll - her legs fell off. It'd be hilarious if it wasn't such a trauma for him. There's a teeny elastic band that attaches to each leg at the top and holds them on - so one leg falls off, they both do. So I am going to make a stab at fixing it, and then when I spectacularly fail and curse and throw it against the wall, I'll have to cave in and buy another one. Grin

intothewest · 13/05/2011 19:14

Passes Wine to ELLEN-Can't pass statement as I had the meeting about it and (re-wrote)it-Waiting for them to do it more neatly than my scrawl-It was all agreed though

Triggles · 13/05/2011 19:14

SauvignonBlanche - wow - you ARE brave!!! I don't think I'll ever reach that point... even with GALLONS of wine!! Grin

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 13/05/2011 19:15

Ooh, ooh, there's a Hop, Skip and Jump near us in Glos, too. I think they're related if yours is in Kingswood way. I've spent many a happy school holiday day there. They do a respite after school club, apparently.

Sauvignon, I'm slowly getting to that point, but I'll still want some hand holding next week.

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 13/05/2011 19:16

evening all , offers Wine and Brew where necessary Smile would love to be on the wine but had forgotten scouts wasn't at the scout hall tonight so am playing taxi. Ds1 has finished his sats, not expecting much as he struggles but glad it's over! Been working on amendments to dd3s amended statement, does that make sense Hmm and just waiting to hear what the lea think! Oh and my house has no roof [wibble] who's bright idea was it to get the loft extended

leiela · 13/05/2011 19:16

Hello first friday here... found this on the web today.

29marbles.blogspot.com/2005/08/10-things-children-with-autism-wish.html

It's totally floored me! i mean really i haven't stopped crying since, showed it to my husband and he filled up reading it. Honestly it could have been written about our son and we totally didn't understand half of this... it just explains soooo much.

intothewest · 13/05/2011 19:18

I was really worried when Ds went on holiday with school for 4 days-The teacher was lovely and kept in touch...of course HE was fine !

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 13/05/2011 19:18

Triggles, our one is at Seven Springs, up by The Hungry Horse. Well worth a google.
