How is everyone?

This week has been hectic, I feel like I am going to meet myself coming back IYSWIM, Grin

But ds had first visit to 'big school' left there for 45 mins with portage teacher. and did brill!

Also music sessions are going really well.

and my best friend is moving 2 mins walk away from me, (rather than 25 mins drive, hurrah!!!! )

I am on the Wine althou it is white not red.

and I have decided to loose a stone by the time ds goes to school. (yeah I know thats a really wimpy target, but there are a lot of stones to loose Blush and I want something that feels do-able and not another burden.)

Thanks EllenJane and Triggles. Yep - have seen your friend's gorgeous DD's pic. I'm finding it pretty hard at the moment, as we got to 2 weeks before her second birthday being told she simply had hypermobile hips and ankles, and now they've thrown us with this possibility. She'd give most of it her best shot no doubt - loves climbing and so on, but finds bigger, more physical, children a bit daunting. And gets thoroughly frustrated when she can't do what her little friends are doing. GRRRRR! Makes me guilty all over again (she was born at 27 weeks, and this is probably a result of her early birth).

I'd heard of CADCAF, but hadn't joined because I didn't think we were eligible to start with as we had been told it was 'simply' hypermobility! Will look into it, I think.

Well, of course I have to stay for ds so I have offered to be the 'mum' for a couple of other children in the class so that their mum's can go (as they are single mums with other children).

But I'm a bit scared about it and I'm not even hosting it. Can she have thought this through? I really hope it goes well for them.

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 13/05/2011 21:06

ellen, you obviously haven't considered this isn't just any hot chocolate, this is hot chocolate sauce dripping . . . Grin

star, are you dropping and leaving then Grin

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 13/05/2011 21:06

Star, maybe drop and stay? Grin Good way to get to know the other mums, many of whom will stay also, and then you can bail as soon as it gets too much. (Just get your party bag early on!)

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 13/05/2011 21:07

haha, crossed posts, maybe she has a large family who have offered to help out?

signandsmile · 13/05/2011 21:07

Lenin- DS1 did have a few words at 2, but it took until he was 3 before he spoke properly. Have you mentioned the speech thing to anyone (sorry, just read the end of this thread, so don't know what you have said earlier).
Evening everyone, i haven't been on here much in the past few weeks but my week has been;
Ds2 keyworker brought the paperwork to request stat assess and she will take it to panel next week! Yippee, and everything crossed it will go through, so we have done our 'parents comments bit' and thanks to EllenJane for advice on this. Also been told that DS2 will finally get some 1-2-1 support in nursery, starting next week. Only a few hrs but it's better than nothing, which is what he has got up to now. Also saw Ds's speech therapist who is very pleased with his progress. And Autism outreach have accepted our referral and will be in touch soon, and will help with preparation for school in sept. Finally, a good week! Smile

Galena · 13/05/2011 21:08

Maybe she feels that if school copes, so can she. Hehe! Good luck, Star!

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 13/05/2011 21:09

Oops, crossed. Hope they make it to the end.....

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 13/05/2011 21:12

night night sign, pleased it's going well with school Smile

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 13/05/2011 21:12

Dietstarts, nice to hear some good news! Hope your Autism Outreach is lovely like our Communication and Interaction Advisory Teachers, cos they is ace!

Triggles · 13/05/2011 21:13

dietstartstmoz hooray for a good week!! Always good to hear!

I'm so grateful that DS2 (and DS3's) birthday is in the end of July - too late in the school year to even consider a big party. Grin So maybe having a July baby wasn't such a bad idea after all......

Triggles · 13/05/2011 21:14

g'nite sign

auntevil · 13/05/2011 21:17

I had 30 children at a party in the house (hired halls after doing that!) - 4 to my knowledge at the time had SNs. As it turns out another 2 have since been dx. Does that qualify me as insane? I just consider myself to be a live and let live type. In my experience of hosting parties and attending parties, some NT children behave atrociously at parties - and conversely, some SN children are the most perfectly behaved.
I hope star that you both get something from the party. A positive experience for your ds, and a good 'mumsy' chit chat about general 'stuff' . Hope this mum has put on some suitable 'refreshments' for the parents. OMG, i'm back onto my 5 a day fetish - i mean fermented crushed grape juice - definitely 1 of your 5! Grin

nenevomito · 13/05/2011 21:17

DS has a party this weekend too. I'm being brave and sending him with DH!

can I ask if any of you have pets? DS keeps going on about getting one to look after. Large animals are out and not sure what to get as he can be a bit...erm...enthusiastic!

auntevil · 13/05/2011 21:19

rats are quite sturdy. I used to have some when i was younger and they seemed indestructible - and liked human attention

nenevomito · 13/05/2011 21:19

30 children at home does sound a bit mad. We had 12 to DS's birthday and that was bad enough. took two hooverings to get the floor clean (and rolling dd across the floor in a fluffy jumper to pick up the last of the party poppers.)

nenevomito · 13/05/2011 21:21

Rats sound good.

I've only had a hamster before. It bit me and ran off.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 13/05/2011 21:22

My mind is now boggling at what auntevil considers suitable 'refreshments' for a bunch of party mums?!

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 13/05/2011 21:24

Hamsters are not sturdy. My DS3's friend went through killed three in as many weeks.

Triggles · 13/05/2011 21:26

rats?!?!?! no thanks!! hahahahahaha

We've discussed getting a dog - could only agree on a beagle with DH - so that's most likely what we'll end up with. The plan is to get one in the autumn or winter coming up (so the puppy gets some down time when DS2 is in school). He's doing riding with the RDA now, so we're really focusing on being gentle with animals - am hoping that will prepare him somewhat for a puppy/dog.

auntevil · 13/05/2011 21:26

We started with hamsters. 1 died the night after we put another hamster of supposedly the same sex in its cage - we found out afterwards that it wasn't. Mum told me that the first hamster died of old age. I'm older and wiser now Grin

Triggles · 13/05/2011 21:28

oh good lord babyheave I almost spat out my lemonade laughing at your comment about rolling DD on the floor to pick up the party poppers Grin

Triggles · 13/05/2011 21:29

we had a cat years ago... I was new with cats... when it went into heat, I thought it was sick and took it to the vet Blush ... older now... not too sure if I'm wiser yet... Grin

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 13/05/2011 21:31

RDA, have you room for a pony, Triggles?
