I want to lose 2 stone by 1st July, anybody want to join me?

I have been on and off SW for a couple of years now. But my weight has creeped up and I'm now 13 stone 10 and officially obese Shock I am so annoyed with myself, and feel so low.

Anyway I have a holiday and a wedding at the start of July so want to get serious this time. Ultimately I want to lose 3.5 stone overall, but feel that 2 stone would be manageable - it would be 2 pounds a week until July.

Anybody fancying joining me? Please!! I need all the help I can get!

I've lost 1lb this week despite eating a lot of lunches out/buying sarnies at work. I'm 9lb in four weeks which is slow but fine. Only another 9lb to go to get to my comfy weight of 10st 12lb. I'm 5ft 5 and don't want to spend my life dieting so would be happy with this. It makes me a size 10 top and 12 bottom.. And is my pre-pregnancy weight

Meant to say I've lost 9lb in four weeks

Really peed off this morning. Worked really hard this week, stuck to SW and did LOADS of exercise, and only lost 0.2 kg. Really don't know where I'm going wrong. It has been my time of the month, but that's finished now so pretty sure that hasn't affected my weight loss. I really can't see how I'm going to lose much more weight at this rate. I've still got a lot to loose (I'm a size 20), so it shouldn't be this difficult.

Sorry you've had a rough week Emma.
One thing I have found that helps is cutting carbs from my evening meal. So even if we're having SW chiili, I will have it with veg rather than rice. Maybe try that? I still have all my syns.
Stick with it... Next week may be wayyyy better x

Don't be hard on yourself Emma. I bet your period has affected your weight. It fluctuates so much. And if you have stuck to it and exercised it WILL come off.
There's nothing more likely to make you overeat than a gain or disappointing loss. I know, I put two pounds on this week so just ate a family bag of crisps!! Angry

Oly5 congrats on your weight loss slow and steady certainly wins the race. You are inspiring the rest of us.
Emma and Biglaugh sorry for your lack of progress I assume you have tried all the usual suggestions
Write everything you eat down, to help you spot what might be going wrong
Up your speed foods
Mix up what you eat and when - we do tend to get into a rut with what we eat or it's maybe just me

One thing that I think works for me is not eating after 8pm at night (unless I am out for the evening) , lots of diet advise on-line and has been on TV about only eating during a 12 hr window so I eat my meals in between 8am - 8pm. My worst time for snacking was always in the evening watching TV so now I try not to eat at all in the evening, cause once I start I wouldn't stop, I just have a huge dinner between 6-7 and a small snack before 8pm.
I would also agree with Oly5 about not too many carbs with your evening meal.

Next week will be better!

Not eating after 8pm would be impossible for us. We don't get home until 7pm, so quite often don't eat until 8:30/9pm.

I know I don't eat enough speed food, but if been trying to up that instead of eating other free but non-speed snacks. I was really hoping for a big loss this week after starting couch to 5k, so was really disappointed when I lost less than last week. Fingers crossed I have a big loss next week.

We don't eat til 9/9.30 either, which is why I cut the carbs. Stick at it, I'm sure it will come off. I can imagine it's totally demotivating though

Late to the party, but can I join in? I joined in Jan and lost a stone, but have fallen off the wagon again. But I need to get on it again. I just have no will power and eat no vegetables. Blush I have a mental block with them, I can't get over it and put them in my mouth! I used to eat them as a child under duress, but can't now. How do I change?

Anyway, my stats:
5'8" 13stone 10 I think.

I started SW at 14 stone 11, and technically obese.

I'm a size 16, 18 in some shops. Sad I get away with it a little as am quite tall, but am quite tubby round the middle.

Welcome Witsender
With SW emphasis on eating 1/3 speed fruit and veg, not liking veg can be a bit of a problem. Couple of ideas if it's the texture you don't like how about veg soup that has been blended or a veg smoothie you could have a serving of that then you wouldn't have to worry about eating veg in your meal. Hidden veg- add fried onions, boiled carrots or similar to passatta or tinned tomatoes blend then add to mince (makes the mince go further as well) to make shepherds pie / chilli it worked with my DS's. I know blending veg is not really approved by SW (a bit like fruit juice rather than whole fruit) but it might get you started on eating more veg.
If you make a casserole or a roast add lots of veg it will cook down into the meaty gravy and the veg will taste all meaty
Experiment a bit, some veggies taste nicer cooked some uncooked, try different ways of cooking e.g stir fry, roasted, baked as well as boiled I have a microwave steamer that I use almost every day as the veggies stay nice and crisp. Perhaps set yourself a challenge where you will try a new vegetable each week to add to any veg that you like even a little. Lots of vege recipes available on line have a look and if you fancy the look of one try making it. Good luck.

Late to join but better late than never eh. I googled SW support group as I really need the motivation. I haven't joined the SW group because of work shift patterns I won't be able to make meetings. A lovely colleague gave me her old slimming world books and I have been trying recipes I got online. Absolutely love slimming world! Ive been yo-yoing since having my son, who is now 15months.

I also have a 2 stone weight loss plan and since starting slimming world 3 weeks ago, have lost 2.9kg. I am determined to get to my goal this time round and fed up of yo-yoing.

Stats:
Current weight 87.1kg
Height 167
BMI Obese!!!

Even when I reach my goal, I will still be classed as Overweight, so I try not to worry too much about BMI as Im in size 14s at the mo and can even get away with my 12 tops, Im definitely one of those that weigh heavier than they look!
So how does this work? Are there weekly, 'weigh in' reports?, exchange of recipes? etc. Thanks in advance xx

Welcome DocRio

Congrats on your weight loss so far. Are the books quite recent? I think there have been some changes to syn values etc?
Someone who is actually a SW member would be better placed to help you with this if the books you have been given are older books.

Like you I haven't joined SW I'm just following my version of the plan but we have a mixture of folks following this thread some going to groups, some on-line members and some going it alone, all are welcome.
Lots of general SW info and recipes is available on-line without having to join. There are some lovely SW members who are happy to help with syn value questions you may have, Slimming World Support (5) is also a great thread to follow if you haven't checked it out already, lots of folks post their daily menus on there so it's great for ideas. Here we have just tended to post weekly results (especially useful for those of us who don't go to a group), ask for advice, support if we need it, talk about our struggles, our reasons for losing weight and what are goals are, but you can post in anyway that you like.

Welcome likemother
Congrats on your previous weight loss and even more so for staying at target. That is going to be the hardest bit for me I think, if I ever get to my target weight of course, I have spent most of my adult life either being on a diet or over eating, hopefully with SW I will break that cycle, any tips you have would be appreciated .
Good luck with losing that last stone so that you can feel comfortable in the clothes you really want to wear.

Hi everyone
I have borrowed a friends slimming world stuff and today is my second day of following it
I have about 1.5 stone to lose - I've never been as heavy and feel like I have a really bad relationship with food and diets - slimming world is the only one I have never done!
It seems too good to be true
If I put my food on here will you tell me how I've done? Hi by the way Grin

Hi everyone - I am new to mumsnet and slimming world - I have just replied to a post instead of adding my comment on the end!
I am 5'3 and weigh 10.7 stone / the heaviest I have ever been - none of my clothes fit me and I feel very heavy for my size Confused I would love to lose 1 to 1.5 stone by July too! I have a bad relationship with food and diets and feel very confused in general with what I should be eating
I have never done slimming world and this is my second day - I feel like I've eaten loads of carbs
I have eaten the following today
Natural total Greek yoghurt and frozen fruit bachelors super noodles 3 ryvita with Philadelphia and shed loads of pasta with one meatball and homemade sauce
I have also had three fruit gums and one Murray mint! Oh and a piece of pineappleSmile I am hungry for something nice but really can't see how I would ever lose weight eating all this food !!!

Welcome Sam,
Prob most of us have tried other diets / eating plans in the past, I know I certainly have, but SW does seem to make a lot of sense and certainly works for a lot of people ncluding you hopefully, it has certainly helped my relationship with food. As I've mentioned before we have a mixture of folks on here some going to a group, some on-line members and others,me included, going it alone other folk on here with more knowledge of SW will be better placed to help you with any enquiries also check out the Slimming World Support (5) as it is a very busy thread. Good luck on your weight loss journey

Sorry cross posted Sam
I'm not a member of SW so can't really comment on your food but a couple of things I have picked up along the way are, are your yogurt and Philadelphia Fat free or v low fat no mention of any vegetables in your menu? Each of your meals should be 1/3 free foods (most fruit or veg) you should fill a 1/3 of your plate with fruit or veg then add the rest of your meal this will naturally limit the amount of other foods that you eat.

Report
samcol13 · 04/05/2016 20:52

Hi yes low fat yoghurt and cheese and the veg thing isn't normal for me - I started this diet in a hurry and haven't got my fridge stuff eg fruit and veg etc
I usually eat salads everyday rather than noodles and have veg with my tea - next week will be a different food diary for me
My downfall is carbs though - I love them!

Hi Sam. I also love carbs and have lost weight before by cutting them out... But am losing weight on SW by eating loads of them! So it can work! SW is basically very low fat so i think that's the key as to why it works
