I have been on and off SW for a couple of years now. But my weight has creeped up and I'm now 13 stone 10 and officially obese Shock I am so annoyed with myself, and feel so low.

Anyway I have a holiday and a wedding at the start of July so want to get serious this time. Ultimately I want to lose 3.5 stone overall, but feel that 2 stone would be manageable - it would be 2 pounds a week until July.

Anybody fancying joining me? Please!! I need all the help I can get!

And I'm good all day (very few or no syns) and then have a Hi-Fi bar with a coffee before bed. It feels like a treat and is enough to stop me raiding the biscuit tin or the multipack of crisps.

I actually really like them as well so prefer them to non-Hex B options.

Hi Felicia
I am glad it isn't just me who finds that the weight sticks like glue after a while.
The first one and a half stone came off quite quickly but now every half pound feels like it is being chiselled off.
I had thought about going on the Super plan where you can't eat pasta rice and potatoes but decided that would make me so depressed I might give up altogether.
I weighed in this morning and have lost 0
So in three weeks I have lost 1Lb
I'm so fed up with it...Sad

Every single time I've dieted or tried to lose weight, I lose about a stone easily and then plateau. I then fall off the wagon really really badly and every time have gained the weight and then some back.

Determined not to let that happen this year.

Hi Felicia,

Congratulations on your weight loss so far 20lbs loss is a great achievement.
I have also lost weight in the past and then found it again, and more. It is tempting when we plateau to feel there is no point carrying on but that is the time to remind ourselves why we are doing this, different reasons for different folks. I wrote a list of why I wanted to lose weight when I started on the SW plan and I've put it away in an envelope so that when I feel discouraged I can get it out and look at it. I also told a good friend my reasons so that she can remind me when I need a kick up the bum to keep going.
Maybe we should all post our reasons here so that we can own our reasons. Biglaugh would this help you?

My 5 reasons why I want to lose weight ( in no particular order)

  1. I would like to apply for other jobs but have no confidence in my appearance and feel that I would be judged on my size in an interview.
  2. Family history of Type 2 diabetes hopefully if I lose weight and eat more healthily I can prevent this.
  3. I am almost of menopause age, so if I don't lose weight now I am never going to manage to do so.
  4. My weight is physically stopping me from doing a lot of things I would like to do.
  5. I would like to be able to buy clothes that I want to wear rather than having to buy whatever comes in my size.

Fab reasons!!!
Mine are:
:: I want to slip on a summer dress in a size 10/12 and not be thinking about tight bits or wobbly tummy
:: being overweight is linked to lots of major health problems, including type 2 diabetes and many types of cancer. I owe it to my children not to put myself at risk
:: I want to feel more attractive for myself during s&x
:: I don't always want to be the bigger one in a sea of slim friends
:: it would be nice not to have to "think" about my weight so much

Ladies we can do this!!

My reasons are mainly because I want to look nice and wear fashionable clothes, not just stuff that fits!

I also want to be able to not think about every single thing I eat - I want to have a healthy relationship with food.

I also want to be healthy for my kids and husband, but I'm vain so it's mainly about how I look.

Great reasons for wanting to lose weight! Fine are both health and looks. I'm 42 now and I really need to do it now. I don't want to start with health problems caused by me being fat! And I want to feel better in the clothes I wear.

I lost 2lb this week. So that's 6lb in 3 weeks. It's slow isn't it. I know it's going in the right direction, but it's taking time. BUT, I keep telling myself that if I lose 2lb a week, by the end of the summer I'll be 2 stone less.

Keep going everyone Smile

I'm joining SW in the morning. I've always been a WW woman- lost over 5 stone with them but it's been a slow and steady process because I just count points as part of my life and have done for about 5 years now! So I think it's time for a change. My aim is to be just as slim as all my friends - not having lost weight but bigger than them. I'm tired of being critical of my body and having it take up so much thought. I feel much more confident when losing weight!
This all makes me sound like I have ishoos Grin anyway slightly nervous for tomorrow's WI, I keep thinking maybe I should just get on the scales now so that it's not a surprise and a shock in the morning!!!

I hope it's simple because WW was very easy to follow and SW sounds confusing.

Hi folks I'm really appreciating hearing everyone's reasons Oly5 I forgot about the s&x but that as well for me. I think it's great that we all have personal reasons hopefully it will keep us determined.
Welcome Leslie don't worry about the scales tomorrow, whatever they say it will hopefully be the last time that you will see that number, it's only a starting point what matters is looking forward. I am only doing SW ish I haven't joined but it is working well for me. Many years ago I did join WW and I lost 50 lbs (have put it all back on and more).
Only my opinion, but both systems work if you stick with them, main difference I have found is that WW suits folks who like to eat more convenience foods and it is much easier to grab a WW sandwich or similar if you are out and about whereas SW suits folks who like to cook from scratch, are on a budget, vegetarian like me can plan their days and who like to have a piled up plate ( 1/3 speed foods). Personally I prefer SW cause when I was on WW I turned into a total diet bore obsessed with counting and measuring and it didn't really help me develop long term sensible eating habits. On SW my focus is much more on choosing sensible options and being able to eat as much of them as I like( within reason of course ) with a few added extras I think it is a plan I can follow even when I get to my goal weight. Good luck

Sorry me again, not meaning to hog the thread.

Just an update

2stone by 1st July challenge

Week 1 (I was late joining in) of 12 weeks
Lost 2lbs
Week 2 - Lost 2lbs
So cutting back on syns seemed to work in balancing out the curry and all the exra's last weekend.

House to myself which should be lovely but feeling tempted by all the goodies in the kitchen ( we have to have them for DS who is actually underweight and struggles to keep weight on - shame eh!) may even have to resort to housework to keep myself busy and away from the crisps and nuts. Good luck everyone for your WI's

Hello all, I'd like to join too please Smile
I started going to a slimming world club before Christmas but didn't stick with it and only went a few times - to be honest I didn't really enjoy the body magic but either! So I'm starting again, I've signed up for the online version and would ideally like to lose a couple of stone.
Today's menu :-
B Spanish omelette and tomatoes
L Bean burger and mixed salad
S banana
HexA Milk
HexB Wholemeal roll
Not sure what I'm having for tea yet, maybe slimming world version of roast chicken dinner?

Hi walnut, welcome and good luck with your "restart" i find it interesting how losing weight is so much more about what goes on in our head rather than just about what we are eating. It has taken me a few years to get my head straight ( which is way longer than it would have taken me to lose the weight I want to) so that sticking to the SW plan, while not exactly easy, is manageable, there are many ways to do SW so just find out what works for you.

I've fallen off the wagon the last few days. Went out for massive lunch and reacted to a stressful piece of news with too much chocolate!
Back on it tomorrow.
Good luck ladies! X

Hope everyone is having a good week. I lost 2lb at weigh in this morning. So now 8lb down. Am pleased. I'm now exactly 14 stone so by next week I want to be in 13 something and then I swear, I am determined to never be 14 stone again in my life!

I made the SW fish pie this week. It's with quark. Just terrible! I think next time I'll make my normal fish pie and use my syns. At least then I'll enjoy

Yellow great results 2lb a week consistently, shows how much daily effort you are putting in.
I hope someone in RL has noticed the difference and told you how well you are doing.
It's so exciting to move down a stone . I have managed to go from 15 - 14 -13 - 12 and it has helped me to have these mini goals. If you keep up all your hard work, fingers crossed, you will be a low 13 something or even a 12 something by the summer. Quark is an acquired taste but I do love a fish pie so would agree it's best to make it how you like it syn it, have a smaller portion with lots of speed veg and really enjoy it.

Please can I join you? I joined this week, so I'm getting my head round it all and meal planning in my head constantly at the mo. I'm veggi so have to adapt some of the recipes, but it all seems straightforward so far.
Oh and the app is invaluable for syn values, and working out what food in my cupboards I can incorporate and what I might avoid!

I'd love to join this thread! I'm 10lb down since the thread was started (2st 9lb down since I started on Jan 5th) and would love to lose at least another stone before July 4th when I go on holiday. I'm currently 12 stone - that would take me to 11 stone which would be a healthy bmi for the first time in many, many years...

I keep forgetting to pop into this thread! I didn't have a good week again last week. It all went well until the weekend and then just made stupid choices. I did still lose, but it was only 0.3 kg. Still, I've lost the equivalent of 1 lb over the last 2 weeks, so better than nothing!

I took a huge step for me this week and decided to start doing C25K. I did my first "run" on Wednesday and managed to do a couple of 60 second runs, but wasn't able to do it all. Planning on going out again before lunch. I came on this morning, so I'm hoping the exercise will help alleviate my period pain.

Welcome Geepee, Emma, Labrador is it sad that I am excited to see new names joining this thread.
Emma congrats on your loss, every loss should be celebrated, good luck with your C25K I wish I could give it a go but I have problems with my feet, so last week I started trying to walk more.
Geepee SW is great for veggies, I'm a pescatarian and found I am eating a greater variety of fruit and veg than I ever did before. I'm missing the creamy, cheesy sauces though. Meal planning is a way of life on SW so it sounds like you are off to a great start.
Emily amazing results from January til now especially as you don't appear to have as much weight to lose as some of us, meaning me, which makes it harder. Good luck on your countdown to your holidays.
Labrador all are welcome, some of the folks are doing SW (Meetings or on-line) I'm doing SW ish (following SW guidelines / healthy eating but have not joined). Some of us are still carrying baby weight, yes me again, even though my DS is 16 (years not months I'm sorry to say).

Thanks itmustbe - started at 14st 9 in Jan, I've set my target for 10 stone but may change it, I don't know yet! I'm only 5ft 6 and write about food for a living, which is why I put that weight on in the first place! Fun though Grin

Thanks for the lovely welcome itmustbe, have been to supermarket and stocked up on loads of stuff, have been trawling through the app to find interesting recipes and there are some great ones. I'm usually a lazy cook, but most seem reasonable and not lots of faff........ Remind me of this when I'm struggling in a few weeks.
Oh I've already tried the frozen sweet potato curry, with plain jacket and plain salad, which was very filling, split the portion over two meals as too much for one meal.
