Rules around banning?

Feeling a little nervous after the recent thread that went 'poof' and reports of people being banned and not knowing why/not having any deleted posts beforehand.

Is there a three strike rule? No strikes?

Are you not allowed to share emails from HQ with the peasants public?

I've been on MN for just over 5 years under various names and I don't "know" anyone, except for the names that I see frequently. I haven't seen any evidence of special favours but I'm sure we'll have the royalty comments coming along shortly...

People who have been around for years are more likely to have had a few 'off' times during those years. Seems a bit unfair to hold them against them indefinitely if they are months/years apart compared to those who frequently have posts deleted for breaking Guidelines.

Wannabe has been here years, hasn't been goady & even ticks the bloody MNHQ 'recent hard time' box.

But wouldn't that be taken into account user26436432 has been registered 5 days and got 47 reports in 3 out of 20 comments LighthouseLove has been registered 10 years had 500 reports over 1284 comments but only 5 have been in them last 50 for the last week

I was banned two weeks ago for pulling someone up on what I thought was a deliberately goady post which was then followed up with a very nasty PM from the OP. MNHQ deleted my post, which admittedly could have been more constructive, but there was no warning, no email, just couldn't log in for several days, while the offensive goady thread remained. I'm still very annoyed about that one to the point that I can't be bothered to post like I did.

There does seem to be an awful lot of bans being dished out ATM. Some rather excitable and enthusiastic newbies in MNHQ perhaps?
