Why do so many people think the Doghouse is awful? I lurk/post there and it doesn't seem radically different from elsewhere on MN to me. But then I also hang out on the feminism board and have never understood why so many people have a problem with it either. IF MN really wanted all the forums fluffy and lovely surely AIBU should be the first one to be lined up against the wall?

Nooka. I am not sure that awful is the word I would use but definetly intimidating. I would never venture into the feminism section. It scares the living daylights out of me tbh. But I have it hide. I think the problem with feminism is that it has been misunderstood for a long time so it isn't uncommon for there to be expectation of strongly held and expressed views. The dog house is not a topic I would have expected to have such strongly and firmly expressed views, if I had need for the topic I would have expected gentle constructive advice. As for AIBU I know it will be blunt and at times harsh and the expectation means I know not to venture there when feeling fragile. Expectation tempers the reaction and approach imo.

Right. Really need to be getting the kids ready for school but a couple of quick points.

I laughed at Justine's comment to AF and until AF comes back and tells us if she was offended by it, think it best just to let it be.

I referred to a train wreck waiting to happen because I read the thread where you against all advice took that dog into your home. It was clear from that moment that you would, in a matter of months, be back asking or help rehoming the dog and that something like this would happen.

I you think that the whelping thread was not that bad, then you need to get out of the doghouse more. It was appalling. Jumping in a poster who had NO IDEA about the issues with puppy farming, abandoned dogs and rescues when she had stated that they had more intersted buyers than puppies - what part of that is reasonable?

DBF was the troublesome younger sister I have not got in RL. I agreed with her about almost everything that was not dog-related and I will miss her.

Bloody hell this thread has gone awry, hasn't it? It's all a bit girls' boarding school - 'she said that, she said this, your insult's worse than mine, teacher's being soooo unfair'.

I image that AF was originally 'quite cross' because of Justines's really crass comments about the feminism section made in response to complaints about MNHQs very very slow response to some pretty nasty trolls there and how that didn't fit with the banning of DBF/Valhalla essentially on the grounds of making sure the the dogshouse is nicey nicey. I'm (obviously) not AF but I would be extremely pissed off if someone dismissed my perfectly righteous anger in such a snidey way.
