Custardo, I've C+P'd this from the previous thread:

Out of interest how would anyone else respond when more than one experienced (dog) rescuer says it's not a good idea to take in a staffie possible pitbull cross young dog that's already been rehomed twice in less than a year and hasn't been assessed around children (when your child has SN); into a flat that's on the 2nd/3rd floor in an area where dogs are stolen for fighting? And that a rescue centre would be better placed to take in the dog and find it a suitable home? And that they would personally use their rescue contacts to help you find a dog that is a good match for your lifestyle.

And how do you think the rescuers might respond when the person does it anyway and then posts a few weeks later that they're afraid the dog will be stolen by those involved with dog fighting and they're passing the dog on to yet another person, again avoiding rescue centres that would homecheck and provide support to the new owner if they had to give the dog up.

I would have exploded. They didn't. They did get blunt.

Simpson pointed out that I'd actually missed a bit where the individual said that the dog was also showing aggression and weeing all over the floor.

LucyStone · 08/11/2011 00:28

Funny that. Justine has both insulted feminism section and dog house and personally attacked AF. and personal attacks aren't allowed?

MrsDistinctlyMintyMonetarism · 08/11/2011 00:29

Sarah I've got it! You can be Maverick and I'll be Goose.

We can zoom around threads doling out 'That Loving Feeling' and you can be all kerazy and I'll be the grounded one that gets to snog Meg Ryan.

It'll be great!

Lucy, the AF thing wasn't as you're taking it. No need to be insulted on her behalf.

I always fancied Goose...

Night all.

SacreLao · 08/11/2011 00:31

But Galaxy

I called TLES names on that thread, where is my warning / banning?

TLES called herself foolish, which was the name calling DBF was accused off, should we report TLES for personal attacks against herself?

DBF called TLES a liar, this was proved. TLES had also called DBF a liar so it was retaliation.

This is mumsnet not fucking netmums, since when do we have to play nice and not say anything that could be considered upsetting.

I'm always telling people to fuck the fuck off and have never been told off for it yet.

ItsonlymeMrsDB · 08/11/2011 00:31

I suspect I may also be a old gimmer.

Rhinestone · 08/11/2011 00:37

Just gone back and read the lead up to Justine's comment to AnyFucker - agree with LucyStone that it sounds like a personal attack. Will Justine have to ban herself now? How would that work?

Lemon I'm quite capable of deciding for myself what to get angry about, what with being a grown up and everything. Thanks all the same. That wasn't a personal attack by the way.

DandyLioness, DBF and other posters actually use their rescue contacts to help people on here. Very recently - as I said at the end of the previous thread - they responded to the post of a woman whose DH wanted her 10 year old dog out of the house because it snapped at their toddler. Within 48 hours the y had collected the dog and had it in a new suitable temporary home awaiting rehoming.

Pan · 08/11/2011 00:38

Hope that the proposed naughty step is a very big one.

I'd just ban the fucking lot of you. Ingrates.

LucyStone · 08/11/2011 00:39

I know, captain Nancy. which is what makes me even angrier about it... does that mean it's ok for me to insult ds, seeing as he's mine? practise what you preach, and all that...

HowlingBitch · 08/11/2011 00:40

Ok I think the point has been made, Can you please unban DBF?

Please?

MildlyNarkyPuffin · 08/11/2011 00:41

The opinions in The Dog House may be strong sometimes - still nothing compared to AIBU on a daily basis - but they also embody the get-involved-and-help-each-other spirit that I think is truly what MN stands for. If you're having trouble they will do everything they can to help, from finding you the contact details of a good trainer locally they believe will be able to deal with your dog's behavioural issues to making sure your pet is looked after and found a good home if you suddenly have to give them up.

Scuttlebutter · 08/11/2011 00:42

I'm still concerned about Justine's comments about the Doghouse needing to "change its ways", and would like her to to explain/justify this. There are plenty of areas of MN including AIBU where a robust exchange of views is positively welcomed - why is the Doghouse suddenly being singled out? How exactly would Justine like us to sugar coat things? The statistics I quoted about dogs killed in Council pounds are that - factual and correct. Should we refer to these dogs as "going to live on a nice farm in the country"? Should we stop alerting people to the issues of dog theft, dog fighting, puppy farming and the horrible ongoing problems with breed specific legislation?

I say again, if MN's justification is to make the life of parents easier (well, nice welcome there for those of us who haven't had kids) - actually, the Doghouse does that. If it really is about making life easier, WHY NOT HAVE STICKIES? Most forums do.

We could cover all the FAQ like how to find a good breeder, how to spot a bad breeder, how to find a good behaviourist, etc. etc. We wouldn't have to repeat ourselves for the 874th time when a numpty/fellow MNetter who we must be supportive and positive to, says "Well of course it's known that all Staffies are slavering child eating demon beasts of the pit" or "I'd never have a rescue dog - they are all slavering child eating demon beasts of the pit" or similar.

DBF is someone who has posted tirelessly to educate and inform people about the reality of life with a rescue dog, and the reality of life and death for dogs in pounds. Many posters have said that they have had their eyes opened to the realities of pounds/puppy farms etc by some of the posts in the Doghouse. If that means even one more rescue dog finding a home, or one less puppy being bought from a puppy farm, then the odd bruised ego is probably acceptable. A bruised ego is quicker to mend than a needle after seven days.
