Hi all,

I thought I'd start a thread for KS4 applications for Brit School as my daughter has her workshop and interview this week and I know we will both be anxiously waiting to here afterwards!

She's applying for Film and Media production strand as is really passionate about working within the film industry..

We have no idea what to expect at the workshop and interview at all!

good luck to anyone else there this week!

Good luck - we are there this week as well for Musical Theatre.

Did you get the email today about checking the meeting date carefully? Some people have missed the workshop time because they didn't read their email properly and they won't reschedule. I am now triple checking everything!

Good luck! My DC has their musical theatre workshop and meeting this week too. We are so nervous.

@emmaw1405 How long is your interview for? My DC’s is 15 minutes long followed by the workshop. 15 minutes seems awfully short to me!

I saw the email and have checked 5 times already what the date is this week! I’ve also took a photo and sent it to DD so she can check it too! The stress!! Ours is an hours workshop and then 15 mins interview which I agree isn’t long! But less time for one of us to say the wrong thing maybe 😂 so nervous - she wants this more than anything!

@ginman Ha! I’ve also taken a photo! For evidence! And I made my husband double check, in case I’d somehow lost the ability to read times! 😂

Thankyou so much for making me feel normal! I’ve also just logged in at work to read it again and checked the calendar again!!

@Zanthe ours is 15 minutes as well, then the workshop at 2.45 until 4.30pm. So I'm guessing they perform everything at the workshop?

We're in North London so leaving early to give us plenty of time to get there. All I've heard this week are show tunes - will be so glad when tomorrow is over.

@emmaw1405 I guess so. I don’t really know how it works. I hope the audition part isn’t in front of everyone. That would be pretty scary!

My daughter had the workshop and interview today, but rally hard to know how it went. They were lovely, but she was a bag of nerves bless her! Good luck to everyone else with their auditions/workshops this week, now the nerve wracking waiting starts!

That’s good they were lovely but your right - impossible to know how these things goes .. am sure all the kids applying are talented and they will have to of course (and quite rightly) choose a real mix of kids for each discipline .. not sure I’ll get much sleep tonight as DDs workshop is tomorrow morning!

Hi everyone, my son has applied for Interactive Digital design and has his interview and workshop tomorrow! We are both so nervous, has anyone else gone for this strand ? And has any tips to give ? Thanks

Good luck everyone! My DC has their slot tomorrow too. The terminology has confused me throughout the process - it says ‘theory’ online but the email talks about ‘workshop’. And then the email talks about accepting both invites but there was only one. And the theory is only 45mins, so a lot to fit in with the tests and solo performance, whereas the meeting is 30 mins. My DC is as cool as a cucumber and I’m in bits. Will be glad when it’s all over!!

My son just finished his workshop and interview. We both were a bag of nerves! Good luck to all the kids! Now the long wait to find out if he's got a place 🥴

@Atmywittsend1 It’s all so unclear, isn’t it! I had exactly that same issue with the “two invites” that was actually only one invite! I ended up emailing them about cos I was convinced I’d only accepted either the interview OR workshop but not both!

@Mummy0fFour How was it? I hope it went well. X

@Atmywittsend1 I agree everything is unclear. It went well but my son said he found the workshop a little difficult. He was so nervous at the interview, he didn't say all the things we had practiced. The email also said the workshop would be a group activity but it wasn't. How did you both get on today ?

HI, Now Im on my laptop my replies look very out of sync and don't make sense! So we had our workshop and interview today FMP. She said the workshop was good - not what she had been expecting - sounded more about team building etc and how they interact and was over in 45 mins. The interview was ok - tricky questions a such for a 14 year old - I didnt speak at all - she chatted away and who knows if she said what they were looking for but she answered honestly so all we can do now is wait! Good luck to everyone else - lots of kids there and thats only one day!!

@Mummy0fFour my DC was the same, we had practiced a little, but in the moment they forgot bits. I found it harder than expected to not answer for them, it was quite a surreal experience to listen to my DC being interviewed. And I guess it made me realise that they really are growing up! The music workshop/meeting also seemed quite solitary compared to the other strands, which seemed to have group activities. I think it was all still a bit unclear on the day with where to go/what was happening, but the staff and students were nice and friendly. Now the wait begins!

Hi everyone, my DS had his workshop & meeting yesterday for interactive digital design. (IDD) He was so nervous, but handled himself well the computer he was allocated wasn’t working so there was a delay to the workshop start time, which added to his nerves but he was managed himself well in the interview.
Like@ginman I didn’t say a word only to confirm who I was, i also found the questions a bit tricky but my DS answered them all, just hope he gave the “buzz” words they are looking for as he is desperate to get in.
Good luck everyone!
Has anyone else applied for IDD?

My son had his workshop and interview on weds for music. I agree the website and emails were confusing but on the day it all was straightforward and ran smoothly with the students telling you where to wait and taking you to the rooms at the correct time. Was nice to meet other kids and parents in the canteen and outside their interview. Good luck everyone!

@Skysti my DS has applied for IDD too. We was also there yesterday.. I spoke a bit in the interview I couldn't help myself lol, & they asked at the end do I have anything I want to add so I just let it all out 😂 I feel like I wish we could go back and do it again so we can say all the bits he forgot lol. How did your DS find the workshop ? Mine said he found it slightly difficult but managed to get on with it.

@Mummy0fFour Aww good luck 🤞 I might have seen you there our workshop/meeting was at 9:00am & 10:15am. I wish I said something now LOL! DS found the workshop ok after the issues with his computer were fixed. He completed the task within the timeframe.
DS is so relaxed now it’s over, where’s as I’m anxiously waiting..🫣.4 weeks feels like forever 😭
Do you know how many students they accept on the course?
Are you within the catchment area?

All went well for us yesterday for Musical Theatre - my daughter was happy with her performance. She did a bit of singing in the car park to warm up her voice (as she tells me!) and was a bit self conscious at first but I told her not to worry as she was at a school for the arts so its probably not unusual there! Just the wait to hear now.

I also wanted to say how lovely the kids were that my daughter spoke to, they all seemed to be rooting for each other. We got chatting to another girl and her mom and they've been messaging each other on snapchat so hoping they both get in.

@Skysti yes we had exactly same times! DS interview was 10.15 as well. I was the lady with the baby.. it didn't seem like there was a lot of kids but not sure if they are doing more interviews on different days for IDD. I think it's 20 or 25 they take. We are not to far from the school, only 1 bus around 30mins journey away how about you ? I read on the chat for last year's intake most people got a answer after 2weeks so let's hope we get the result sooner rather than later 🙏🏽

@Mummy0fFour i thought it might’ve been you ☺️we actually spoke, we’re the family you met at the open day. 👋
It was my understanding that interviews/workshops took place on the 21st, 22nd & 23rd of Feb. I agree with you there didn’t seem to that many people there for IDD, but i think that might be due to so many applicants missing their workshop appointments. I did see loads of applicants for music, theatre, & dance, so good luck to everyone whose children have applied for these strands. 🤞
