Brit School KS4 2024

Hi all,

I thought I'd start a thread for KS4 applications for Brit School as my daughter has her workshop and interview this week and I know we will both be anxiously waiting to here afterwards!

She's applying for Film and Media production strand as is really passionate about working within the film industry..

We have no idea what to expect at the workshop and interview at all!

@emmaw1405 I didn’t know that the half term was for so long in Feb. So you’re most probably right we won’t her back until after the 8th March.

Just got an acceptance for DD - VAD starting year 10 in September. So quick, I was expecting a much longer wait so hopefully they'll put other ppl out their misery soon too! Keeping fingers crossed for everyone

Oh wow!!! That’s so quick! When was her interview? Ours was only last Wednesday - not gonna lie it feels like a lifetime ago though!!! Huge congratulations! Xx

@ginman - thanks so much - I can't quite believe it! She's going to be bouncing off the walls when she gets home!

Interveiw and workshop was Wednesday morning last week (21st) so same day as you I guess?

Amazing!! That’s the nicest part is telling them good news (hopefully🤞🏼).. our was actually Thursday for FMP - only a week ago 🙈🙈

I wonder whether they'll send an acceptance to her too, in which case she may see it before she gets home as I know shes been hitting the refresh button like mad on her emails since the interview.

She's got 3 good friends that have applied too though one for music and two for drama so still got to wait for them to find out too and I imagine the competition is much toucher in those areas (Brit is very local to us - about a 15 minute bus ride, hence there being a few folk she knows that have applied) 😬

Our daughter also has a few friends who have applied and 2 have found out today that they’ve got in! (Both Vad).

You wouldn’t believe how often I’m refreshing my emails now; just incase 😂

She's spent the last couple of hours walking round with a daft grin on her face looking like the Cheshire cat. Obviously the day for VAD results so hopefully they'll start looking at the other streams once these are out. I would think (and completely guessing here!) that the film and interactive design would follow next as they are similarish subjects?

Oh and for anyone wondering she was sent an email too at the same time as us, though she was too scared to open hers otherwise she'd have found out while at school.

Well done to your daughter! This last week has felt so long, it must be so nice now the wait is over for you guys and you got the news you wanted 👍

Ha! I saw that the principal was presenting an award and I thought to myself, “Shouldn’t he be at home trawling through applications right now?! 😂😂😂

I’ve just logged on to her Brit school page and it’s now saying ‘phase 2 appeal’

Everything else still says the same as it did before ‘offer - pending’ etc.

I’m guessing this isn’t a good sign though 😞

Does anyone else have this?

@GreenPombear I have just checked & it still states pending. So I done know whether that is good or bad.. What strand did your child apply for? X

Does your page have anything under additional phases?

That’s odd. Maybe a glitch on their system? It doesn’t make sense, surely, to randomly have a Phase 2 appeal link in there. Surely Phase 1 would come first?! Nothing has changed on my DD’s page.

I’ve had a google, phase 1 is to appeal against not getting an interview (I think). Phase 2 is to appeal if you are declined a place, or if you are put on a waiting list.

So my gut feeling is she will be given an outright decline or placed on a reserve list 🤔 😞

And for some reason that has appeared on her page before the decision 🤷‍♀️
