Hello! (maple with a name change). Here's to an outbreak of sun soon!

WouldBeGood · 08/06/2022 08:20

Thanks @runningpink !

@summer22now optimistic name but hope it works

summer22now · 08/06/2022 08:27

High expectations about the forecast tomorrow on!

WouldBeGood · 08/06/2022 08:49

Ooh…<hurries off to check> ☀️

summer22now · 08/06/2022 11:23

Today's weather definitely mocking the name change - it's a multiple raincoat sort of a day

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 08/06/2022 15:45

Thanks for the new thread @runningpink !

I managed to avoid all the burgers and chips at my lunch and opted for a seafood dish which I'm hopeful wasn't as calorific as something with fries and a brioche bun! As long as I avoid snacks this evening I hope I'm be more or less within my calorie limit.

Miserable weather here. Please tell me it will pick up for the weekend?!?

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 09/06/2022 07:59

So I did go over on my calories yesterday 🙄 but with protein rich snacks rather than sugary biscuits so overall I had a healthy-ish day. Will try and claw some back over the next few days. Though I'm going out tomorrow evening for a friend's birthday...

DH and I were discussing last night that the challenge for us now is not writing off a day when we have something social on, but having the willpower to make the best choices. If that makes sense? DH also has some holiday goals which is very helpful though!

Good luck today everyone!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 09/06/2022 13:49

Working from home today, so at lunchtime I squeezed in my first run since I fell off the wagon with holidays/covid. Some of you might remember I was one run off completing C25K. I couldn't bear going back a few weeks but didn't think I'd be up to a 30 min run so I started Les mills new running workouts instead. Just a short 16 minute one but it felt good to get out there again! Going to do a core class later!

WouldBeGood · 09/06/2022 16:10

Oh, @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo I was wondering the other day if you’d completed it! Well done for getting back out. I did a wee run today, trying out my new Lupa app for mindful running. Quite enjoyed it and it gives you a Spotify playlist to run to.

i also saw a 5 or 10K pizza run advertised for Glasgow- I might do a race for pizza 🤣

Ate loads at the birthday dinner last night, but very much enjoyed it. Back on it today but wine tonight I think. it is just making the best choices you can when out, I agree @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo Hope everyone else doing well!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 09/06/2022 18:06

Glad you enjoyed the birthday dinner @WouldBeGood ! I am tempted by wine as it's an anniversary of sorts for DH and I, but I've done so well otherwise today... In addition to my short run I did a core class, so feeling quite virtuous now.

I'm not sure I'd run for pizza, wine and crisps on the other hand... 😀

summer22now · 10/06/2022 09:26

My problem with couch 2 5 k is that I can't leave the house without bumping into someone I know 70 percent of the time - last time I tried it nearly every person I know saw me making a fool of myself in the local park!

Had a good food week! Having a spring this month and aiming for 3 k off before end of June holiday.

Wine, wine is always my weekend diet downfall. Must resist!

summer22now · 10/06/2022 09:27

Where is my brain? 3 Kg, and sprint not spring!

WouldBeGood · 10/06/2022 11:05

@summer22now I drive to the country to jog so no one sees me 😳

summer22now · 10/06/2022 12:59

Tempting....😀

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 10/06/2022 13:34

I put sunglasses on, a cap, and keep my head down. I know my neighbours can all see me, but if I don't see them it doesn't count!

Wine tonight for me! I set nutracheck to have a higher calorie allowance at the weekend than during the week so my calories balance out Wed - Tue. Also, if I overindulge I can really rein it in Mon/Tue before my Wed weigh in! 😀

I also try and go really low cal for breakfast and lunch and do a high calorie burn class after work on Fridays to mitigate against the impact of the weekend.

WouldBeGood · 11/06/2022 09:01

That sounds a good plan on the calories @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo Might see if I can do that too on MFP.

must get up and go a run.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 11/06/2022 15:25

I find it really helps to think about cals across the week @WouldBeGood allows for guilt free indulgence days! How was your run?

I did body balance this morning as I really want to try and improve flexibility and was running around town doing chores earlier so that's my activity for the day. Off to the cinema later - might treat myself to a small popcorn!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 11/06/2022 15:37

I have just looked up the calories for cineworld snacks. Ooft! Glad we're going after dinner!!

WouldBeGood · 12/06/2022 08:16

I was really shocked at cinema calories the other day, @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo . Extreme!

I did go a jog yesterday, then out to Mamma Mia in the evening, which seems to have used up loads of calories 😃

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 12/06/2022 23:41

We went to Costa today @WouldBeGood and couldn't believe how calorific even the smallest sweet treat was. DH and I had a bit of a boozy afternoon with friends at a street food outdoor place, we'd already factored in a big calorie day, but honestly, I think if we weren't counting, we would easily have had an extra 2k calories each today, without being particularly excessive!!!

Mama Mia sounds fun!

WouldBeGood · 13/06/2022 08:02

It’s scary @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo ! It does really put me off now unless I really fancy something. Sounds like you had a good day though. I got lured into a massive Sunday roast, so I think I’ll restrict calories a little this week to compensate.

PT later on and going to try to up my steps.

how’s everyone else doing?

WouldBeGood · 13/06/2022 08:32

Oh, and I’d need to go premium to set different calorie goals for the weekends, so will just have to do it myself, and note my “extras”

GoldenSongbird · 13/06/2022 08:41

Hello! Can I join? I lost tonnes of weight in the first lockdown then put even more on last year. I'm peri-menopausal and really struggling with motivation so I'm hoping all your enthusiasm and focus will rub off on me 😀

WouldBeGood · 13/06/2022 08:45

Hi @GoldenSongbird !

I do find this thread motivating, sure you will too.

I’m 52 and piled on tons of weight pre and during lockdown. Started trying, then got properly into calorie counting in January, which has been a total game changer.

GoldenSongbird · 13/06/2022 09:05

Do you limit carbs or just calorie count? I feel as though I've read so many different books, I've forgotten how to eat 😄 but I figure if I eat less and exercise every day (even for short periods of time) it should help. New scales are coming tomorrow. I'm going to meal plan later.
