Tape on the bedroom door

WTF? I've just found sellotape at the bottom of the bedroom door, I saw it out of the corner of my eye as I'm sat on the bed.

It was stuck on the door itself but long enough to reach the door frame if it was taped from the outside. Wtf?

DH and I together 18yrs no red flags, not really. He has recently started sleeping in the spare room since he caught Covid and decided to stay there. He's been enjoying late nights watching box sets while I sleep.

Why would anyone put tape over the bottom of the bedroom door?

That's odd. Have you asked your dh?

user1477249785 · 20/11/2021 22:18

OP what are you worried about here?

claymodels · 20/11/2021 22:18

Hadn't it just been transferred from elsewhere on feet/pet/child?

AnxiouslyAnxiousToday · 20/11/2021 22:21

Not even sure what to ask.

Just placemarking to find out why this is questionable.

Old poster? Measuring door but couldn’t find the tape measure?

BigbreastsBiggerbeard · 20/11/2021 22:22

Is it on the inside of the door? I'm presuming so as you could see it while on the bed.

Santaischeckinglists · 20/11/2021 22:22

Does he work? Are you home? Is he checking if you take anyone in there when he is out?

MrsSkylerWhite · 20/11/2021 22:22

Just ask him.

OppsUpsSide · 20/11/2021 22:23

What are your suspicions? I would probably just think ‘oh’ and put it in the bin.

RainforestLizard · 20/11/2021 22:24

I can't picture what you mean....

LostThePot · 20/11/2021 22:24

I’m sure I had this in my spy book that I had when I was a kid. It was to see if someone had opened the door when you were out.

SickAndTiredAgain · 20/11/2021 22:25

DH and I together 18yrs no red flags, not really.

What does not really mean?

The only “reason” to tape a door would surely be so that you knew if it had been opened. But unless he thinks you’re sneaking out and back in in the middle of the night I can’t see why he’d see the need to check this?

TwinklyBranch · 20/11/2021 22:25

Why would you go to the trouble of posting on the internet rather than saying "oi DH, what's this tape on the bottom of the bedroom door?" Confused

Dancingonmoonlight · 20/11/2021 22:25

Is it on the inside of your door or the spare bedroom door?
I imagine it was put there to stop a draught if it was hanging down? Not the most practical but could have been the nearest thing to hand when in the room.
I'm puzzled as to why you mentioned you have been married for so long. Why is that relevant?

SickAndTiredAgain · 20/11/2021 22:27

The fact you’ve posted this in relationships and mentioned your marriage etc makes it sound like you’re assuming some sort of sinister motive. But that seems an odd jump to make

nomorefrogs · 20/11/2021 22:27

I was also curious about why mention 'no red flags not really' do you think your dh is spying on you?

jesspaws · 20/11/2021 22:28

Ok so the tape was on the outside of the bedroom door and right at the bottom. I saw it as the door was partially open. I've only ever heard of putting tape on a door like that to see if someone has been in the room or not. I'm proper baffled.

nomorefrogs · 20/11/2021 22:31

Have you got an 8 year old child with the usborne book of spy tricks? If not and you have been in your home a while it seems like your dh is worried about your behaviour. What red flags have you noticed?

What is it with people on this forum? Do they not communicate with their partners?

Just bloody ask him 🤯

Fifteentoes · 20/11/2021 22:32

Your DH is clearly trying to sellotape you in to the bedroom so you remain his prisoner forever. How on Earth did you manage to escape?

ponkydonkey · 20/11/2021 22:37

My kids go this all the time
They set traps... and forget about them.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 20/11/2021 22:37

Don't say anything, just remove it and see if it appears...
If it does reappear come back here for advice

jesspaws · 20/11/2021 22:39

Why would anyone set a trap to check if I'd been in to the bedroom? I've been in and out about 10 times today, so it can't be a new thing. I will ask him, but just wanted other opinions first.

HadEnoughOfBears · 20/11/2021 22:43

Do something to it that makes it look like it's been 'naturally' disturbed and then wait to see if it's fixed / replaced

ChrissyPlummer · 20/11/2021 22:43

@LostThePot I had this too! It was from a promotional book with Frosties 😂.

It’s probably just stuck there from something else OP.

musicviking1 · 20/11/2021 22:44

Perhaps communicate with your husband?
