Tape on the bedroom door

jesspaws · 20/11/2021 22:13

WTF? I've just found sellotape at the bottom of the bedroom door, I saw it out of the corner of my eye as I'm sat on the bed.

It was stuck on the door itself but long enough to reach the door frame if it was taped from the outside. Wtf?

DH and I together 18yrs no red flags, not really. He has recently started sleeping in the spare room since he caught Covid and decided to stay there. He's been enjoying late nights watching box sets while I sleep.

Why would anyone put tape over the bottom of the bedroom door?

OP posts:
Vapeyvapevape · 21/11/2021 07:31

The sellotape is a cunning diversion to distract the Op from seeing the bucket of water balanced on top of the door .

RoseAndRose · 21/11/2021 07:36

10. He thinks you spend too much time on mumsnet and is waiting to see how long it takes you to post about the random sellotape on the door

I really like this theory!!

DC trying out a prototype Santa trap sounds the only one which is really likely hough

Vapeyvapevape · 21/11/2021 07:44

The op must have tried to remove the tape and managed to get herself sellotaped to the door- there’ll be a bloke start a thread soon asking if we know why his wife has taped herself to the door.

thegreywoman · 21/11/2021 07:45

We need a diagram.

Whataday21 · 21/11/2021 07:51

Yes, my immediate thought was that they're not box sets he's watching!!!

lunarlandscape · 21/11/2021 08:02

@Santaischeckinglists

Does he work? Are you home? Is he checking if you take anyone in there when he is out?
But that would be insane. We walk into our bedrooms ten times a day to get changed after workouts or dirty housework, deposit laundry, dry off after a shower etc. I think it's probably been used as masking tape last time the room was decorated and finally worked loose.
Arethechildreninbedyet · 21/11/2021 08:10

Do you have thick bedroom carpet? I found similar on the bottom of our door and our cupboard wardrobes and DH had stuck it to our room and the youngest’s room because the door pulled on the carpet and made opening/closing the door difficult.

BoudiccaBee · 21/11/2021 08:11

👀

doistayordoigo · 21/11/2021 08:15

I've put tape around a door to stop a spider escaping until someone can dome an d deal with it (bad phobia Blush}

I can also imagine putting tape at the bottom to stop a draft or something like that.

Xenia · 21/11/2021 08:25

Small children do all sorts of things so that is most likely. The other reason I have taped around doors or windows or workmen have is when you paint you put "masking tape" on so you do not paint over what is underneath. Sometimes you only find that years later as it has been painted over.

Namenic · 21/11/2021 08:26

Is the tape to make a noise if you open the door? I was thinking on the same lines as @Whataday21

neveradullmoment99 · 21/11/2021 08:32

Could it beholding the carpet down? Like a carpet stay?
Could it be to trap spiders?
Doesn't sound sinister. Just ask your dh.
Maybe him choosing to sleep separately is making you feel paranoid. Why is he still sleeping separately? I think you both have deeper issues.

stillcrazyafterall · 21/11/2021 08:33

Just read about this in a James Patterson book. Baddie taped a match to the bottom of a door with sellotape after turning the gas on inside. Person opens the door, the match strikes (not totally sure how that works) and BOOM! The room blows up.

Probably not relevant but you never know...

Iamacatslave · 21/11/2021 08:40

Patiently waiting for an update 😃

Couchbettato · 21/11/2021 08:41

Tape the bottom of the spare room door in retaliation?

Orchid876 · 21/11/2021 08:44

Do you have children? Lots have posters have suggested it was your DC, so I think to not mention if you have kids or not is a bit odd. Not as odd as this post, but still odd.

MumofSpud · 21/11/2021 08:46

Op - r u ok hun?

This thread could end up in classicsGrin

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 21/11/2021 09:02

Ah!

They call it bad sets now?

Lovemusic33 · 21/11/2021 09:02

He’s watching porn and doesn’t want you to catch him out.

MrsSkimpole · 21/11/2021 09:04

@CricketCat

I had a green £3.99 sticker stuck to my trousers today. I think my husband is trying to sell me, because I have no idea where it came from.

Sellotape is, fortunately, very sticky.

Well, it is when you first take it off the roll, it sticks to everything you don’t want it to. But when you put it on the thing you want it to stick to, then it is not sticky.

diddl · 21/11/2021 09:25

Does everyone have an ensuite?

If not & you get up in the night it's surely just to use the loo?

GroovesintheHeart · 21/11/2021 09:27

A classic sellotape fetish.

Yummypumpkin · 21/11/2021 09:30

** I saw it out of the corner of my eye as I'm sat on the bed.

I keep thinking of this bit.

It feels like a clue.
