Tape on the bedroom door

WTF? I've just found sellotape at the bottom of the bedroom door, I saw it out of the corner of my eye as I'm sat on the bed.

It was stuck on the door itself but long enough to reach the door frame if it was taped from the outside. Wtf?

DH and I together 18yrs no red flags, not really. He has recently started sleeping in the spare room since he caught Covid and decided to stay there. He's been enjoying late nights watching box sets while I sleep.

Why would anyone put tape over the bottom of the bedroom door?

What does not really mean?

The only “reason” to tape a door would surely be so that you knew if it had been opened. But unless he thinks you’re sneaking out and back in in the middle of the night I can’t see why he’d see the need to check this?

But if it's visible from inside the room then presumably it was put on by someone inside the room, whi then couldn't leave without disturbing it. Sounds to me like somethng perfectly innocent has been caught on the door, maybe something with static.

I found a CBeebies sticker stuck to our hallway floor this morning, wondering now if I should assume it’s suspicious.

Well, I have to admit, my first thought would be, "Look what the cat's tracked now," and not "I wonder why he's taping the bottom of the door?" I can think of any of about 100 reasons tape could end up there, and someone trying to trap me about a room that I'm in and out of 15 times a day is right at the bottom of the list. Ask him.

I think you've cracked the case.

He's watching porn and sellotaped you in so that he can hear if you are opening the door and are going to catch him out. So he hears the ripping sellotape noise and quickly switches to a "box set". That's my best guess. It still makes no sense though.

Do you have young kids watching spy movies? This is the sort of crap we used to do playing spy kids.

I don’t really understand. Why would he need sellotape to know if you’ve left your bedroom? He’s in the house! He’ll hear you leaving the room! And why would he want to know if you leave the bedroom? are you not supposed to?

I think he told the kids not to go into your room and wanted to see if they did what he said. He’s a weirdo and definitely had a spy book as a child. Create some clues for him to discover.

I suggest starting with writing on the mirror that can only be seen when it steams up. What about a cryptic “SELLOTAPE?”
