DP said a very strange thing tonight ?!

DP has called by tonight to hang out for the evening with me and the kids .
When he came through the door the first thing he said was ‘ok so where are these sausage rolls to reheat ?’
Earlier today my mum who was caring for the kids whilst I worked, cooked some sausage rolls and left the remaining ones we didn’t eat in oven for me to reheat for DP and kids tonight.
There’s no way he’d have known of this as both myself , nor my mum have mentioned this to him today and he knew they were in there without being told or even looking . They hadn’t recently been cooked and place didn’t smell of them.
When I questioned him on how he knew, he just said ‘ oh, instinct I guess’ no further explanation Shock
Is it strange he said that? I can’t quite work this out !!

Are sausage rolls the only thing your mother would cook?

Probably the smell, a colleague used to bring a sausage roll in for breakfast, the entire (large) office would smell very strongly of it for the rest of the day. Sausage rolls are normally cold and you heat them yourself I think?

I think I'd be pressing him a bit further. His answer of knowing about the sausage rolls because of 'instinct' is a load of tripe-unless your mum often makes sausage rolls?
Dig a bit deeper.

That is very very weird

He has a camera in the house.

I also think it depends on whether your mum often cooks them and leaves to reheat.

V weird. As PP said, mentioning reheating them is v specific.

Sorry OP but he must be watching or listening to you, there's no other explanation

My guess is camera or some other sort of recording advice in the house too.
Very creepy.

Have you mentioned them to anyone else by text? Maybe your phone is somehow linked and he has seen the message?

His response is the oddest thing. Instinct?? Did you laugh when he said that and then ask for an actual answer?

Report
Time2change2 · 28/08/2020 21:27

Ask him more OP- instinct isn’t an answer! What doesn’t that even mean? Did he smell them? Why did he think there were any left to reheat. Gauge his reaction very carefully when he answers.
Watch out for these signs:
Blinking more or for longer
Licking lips
Shaking head side to side ever to slightly
Itching / scratching face
Red cheeks
These are all signs of lying. Ask some important questions and watch the answers!

Could the Sausage Fairy have told him?

Report

My first thought was he's shagging your mum for some reason

AcrossthePond55 · 28/08/2020 21:31

From previous posts about him, you’ve had your suspicions about him accessing your phone/his phone secrecy

Is this true, OP?

If so, then I think you have your answer.

Your mum probably mentioned it and then forgot she had.

Is he just winding you up? Was he actually in for a couple of minutes before you knew? Perhaps he overheard you saying 'We'll reheat those sausage rolls when Bob gets here.' whilst he was taking his shoes off in the hallway or something?

I hope his name isn't actually Bob, because then you'd really freak out.

I don't think it sounds sinister, unless there's a sinister feeling about him in other ways.

Spluttered my drink...

He could have smelled them but to say 'to be reheated' is quite specific!

Can you log in to your WiFi router to check the devices using it? It will show phones, Alexa/Google smart speaker, TV, PC, iPad/tablets etc...if there's anything else then it's a watching/listening device.

Log in to the admin page - the code & password should be on the back on the router.

My ex used to do this, i.e. come out with things he could only have known by spying on me or reading my private messages. He used to constantly gaslight me by telling me I had actually told him whatever he’d come out with. He hadn’t, I caught him going through my phone and found a hidden camera.

I’m not saying this is the case her, but proceed with caution.

You need to-do a test, talk about or do something really random in your kitchen and see if it comes up in conversation.
