Ex being sentenced today. I need some hand holding

Long story short. My ex husband raped me numerous times during our relationship. I finally reported him last year. Last month he pleaded guilty to 2 counts of rape and 1 count of assault by penetration. He left it right to the last second to change his plea to guilty but I was so relieved I didn't have to go to court.
He is in court for sentencing today. I am a bit of a mess. I feel so shaky and scared. I know he's going to go to prison so I don't know what I'm scared of.
I have to phone witness care later and they will be able to find out his sentence.

It's a bit embarrassing really, Brenda. Ex used sleeping tablets to knock me out and he also filmed his actions on his phone. My understanding is that a sentence of 6 years had been decided but then the judge added 4 years to that because of the additional factors.

Oh honey Sad

It's not embarrassing, he is the shameful pond scum who did this.

fakenamefornow · 08/09/2015 19:22

Great news!

BrendaandEddie · 08/09/2015 19:29

yes that would be right. Recording in any assault is deemed to be aggravating

queenofthepirates · 08/09/2015 19:57

You are amazing, your bravery means that it's stopped him from being able to do this to another woman for which I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Keep that in mind if you ever feel low, you are worthy of great awards and your daughter should be proud to have such an fantastic mother.

springydaffs · 08/09/2015 19:59

Anyway, that's all behind you now and yay the scum has got his comeuppance. Good.

I am so thrilled for you. Well done, you've done something so marvellous. Be proud of yourself - we are! Flowers

Delighted for you OP. Well done Thanks

MiscellaneousAssortment · 08/09/2015 23:43

You are brilliant, and he's a sick fuck. I'm so pleased the law actually worked in this case. Tbh I was expecting to be saddened by the easy reduced sentencing that you hear about. I'm so glad you didn't have to deal with that.

Now, you know he did a terrible thing (/s), we know on here he did a terrible thing and now we all know the law agrees that he did a terrible thing... Which is a massive 'we believe you'.

I do believe and it's so unfair you had to have any of that happen to you. I hope this moment eventually helps with the journey of healing you can go on now. I know its not over, naive to think it's done now, but bloody hell, it's a small bit definite step in the right direction (which is away from him, in jail).

Am so glad.

This is such good news - its great to hear justice working properly!

Flowers and I hope you and your DC make a great new life for yourselves.

Thank you so much everyone.

I seriously couldn't have done this without you guys. It was MN that gave me the strength to leave him 3 years ago. Then last year when I was trying to find the courage to report him it was again you guys that supported me and got me through giving my video evidence. Now here you are again getting me through. I'm not normally very gushing but I seriously love the wonderful, strong, giving members of Mumsnet.

What a skunk he is. Angry
So glad his depraved arrogance contributed to his downfall!

Move far far away, excellent plan. And again, WELL DONE!! You've done an amazing thing. xx Thanks
