men do confuse love and sex

Sneaking out of the shadows I suppose I am asking the Dads something although I can see it is a topic that has been covered before.

I love my wife she loves me but we have not made love in 6 years.

I think what scares me is the idea that she does not fancy me. More than that perhaps she is seeing someone else.

Help.

But MT2 SS Says his wife is at home all day looking after their ds. But they haven't had sex for 6 yrs so I presume the child would be in school. A fibber has to have a good memory or they will trip themselves up.

M2T · 25/11/2003 11:14

My Mum still classed herself as a SAHM mum when all of us were at school!! He must have meant that she doesn't work so she is at home every day!
She could be home-educating, there may be a number of reasons!! Why must we instantly jump on the "OH MAGOD it's a TROLL!" option?

Rhubarb · 25/11/2003 11:30

Hmmm good point. Come back SS and assure us that we've not been wasting our efforts on a troll! If so then we'll just have to trace you using our expert pc powers and come to your house to duff you up!
Dadslib - can you find out more about him!

Forestfly · 25/11/2003 11:32

Has the troll thread been deleted? I can't find it?

Why thought DL?? What if he isn't???

I think it's very sad that MN'tters are so paranoid.

completely agree with you M2T and don't think people would treat a female poster as warily
.
"I love my wife but we have not made love in 6 years" is a VERY common problem. I just can't see why ss aroused so much suspicion

Clarinet60 · 25/11/2003 22:49

Trolls usually disappear when they are rumbled.

Clarinet60 · 25/11/2003 23:14

Jasper, he didn't, at first. It was the way he 'responded' to our posts that aroused suspicion, not the lack of a sex life. That's quite common, I agree.
I do agree that male posters are treated differently, at least, by me. It's really hard to explain why without sounding sexist, but you know how there's always some great reason why they can't do the washing up? Some whiff of that attitude always seems to sneak in in the end, and no matter how open minded I start out, I seem to end up wanting to send them to their rooms.

jasper · 25/11/2003 23:52

Driole I have just reread this whole thread with particular attention to SSs contributions and am even more mystified as to why people are suspicious and others are almost hostile.

Aloha said SS did not sound stupid (or troll like if you ask me) just really really sad and defeated. Very true, poor guy .

He came here for support and advice and has been doubted and even ridiculed. This is not the mumsnet I know and love.

M2T · 26/11/2003 08:29

Jasper - I've got to agree with you, I think it's a bit ridiculous actually!!!

lazyeye · 26/11/2003 08:44

Must admit, think we should leave it now. If hes genuine, which I suspect he is, he is going to be very hurt, and its not doing anyone any good slagging him off here. If its a troll, then best to leave it as well.

Rhubarb · 26/11/2003 10:50

Oh, so Dadslib come across all superior and pretends he knew all along! Yeah right you did!

Anyway, if SS was a troll, what has he possibly got out of it? It's not like he's asked us all to describe our sex lives is it? And he did say that he just wanted reassurance that his missus still loved him and wasn't seeing anyone else. I agree that he contradicted himself, I just don't see the point of this particular troll exercise, if it was one.

Clarinet60 · 26/11/2003 13:07

People who have read the thread through again will see that he's had a lot of painstaking advice that he's ignored. He may or may not be a troll - he's certainly quite rude.

Teletubby · 26/11/2003 13:34

Don't wish to be dim but what is a troll?

Forestfly · 26/11/2003 13:36

Look up the link in the troll thread and you will see

Clarinet60 · 26/11/2003 13:41

Rhubarb, to attempt to answer your question, my assumption was that he decided to invent a scenario where the woman was partially in the wrong (in his eyes) then sit back and see what mumsnetters had to say about it. It's only a vague guess, but you did ask A kind of feminist-baiting.

FairyMum · 26/11/2003 13:47

I think he was for real. If he wanted to provoke, he would have done it in a different way.

popsycal · 26/11/2003 13:49

i posted the following comment on nother thread......
