And there’s some rubbish about an ex-stripper policeman?

Place marking but need to do a serious catch up...

ADarkandStormyKnight · 01/08/2018 18:25

Thanks for the new thread.

Abra1de · 01/08/2018 18:41

Is it awful or me not to care about Fallon’s wedding?

cheminotte · 01/08/2018 18:49

Signing in, thanks for the new thread Pseudo

LassWiADelicateAir · 01/08/2018 18:56

Hannah's response was another poorly written, overly aggressive female character. Would anyone in real life speak to their new boss like that? Absolutely ridiculous

Exactly. Dreadful writing.

I'm moderately interested in Fallon's dress. Harrison is awfully dull. He didn't use to be but I can't see this marriage lasting.

MikeUniformMike · 01/08/2018 19:07

Ooh hasn't he got a nice voice.

Gruach · 01/08/2018 19:07

Thanks Pseudo!

Oh dear ... Two sides to every coin I guess ...

GrinHmm

PicklingGherkins · 01/08/2018 19:11

Thanks for the new thread! I love catching up here after I've listened to my podcast (usually the following day after my way home).

SecondTimeCharm · 01/08/2018 19:18

hi all, freshly rejoining mumsnet after a few years and happily plonking myself on this thread. love catching up on the podcast every day if i can and was brought up listening to the archers so it’s in my blood at this point!

agree that outburst from Hannah was very out of character?!

PicklingGherkins · 01/08/2018 19:19

I also don't really care about the wedding (and I'm usually a sucker for these things). Neil is definitely either in for an employment fall or will resign and join Rex and buy a shed load more pigs to run a joint enterprise. I can't wait to hear Susan's reaction with her underwoods cordial. I hate and love Susan in equal measure.

Also Shula is a sanctimonious, self absorbed idiot. Oh and I hate Pip so much (same reasons).

EsmesBees · 01/08/2018 19:47

Such a nice voice

Fink · 01/08/2018 20:20

Who has a nice voice (I missed the end of the last thread owing to family wedding)? Robin?

MereDintofPandiculation · 01/08/2018 21:08

Another pantomime villain. Have the SWs forgotten how to do subtlety?

LassWiADelicateAir · 01/08/2018 21:10

Must be Robin. No one else has a lovely voice.

Wouldn't it have been wonderful if Tobes and Rex had an uncle as well who wanted to visit and they had roped in Roger Allam as a guest member of cast?

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/08/2018 21:32

Thanks Pseudo and welcome SecondTimeCharm!

Am thinking Robin may toy with the idea of buying Home Farm.

Then it will all come to naught.

TigerTeatimes · 01/08/2018 21:55

Thanks for the new thread. I want to get sloshed with Robin, but what is his problem with Rex?

EBearhug · 01/08/2018 23:15

It makes Josh's family treatment look almost favourable!

anappleadaykeeps · 01/08/2018 23:38

Robin does seem to be the interested cash buyer for Home Farm, or is that just too obvious.

Poor Rex at the moment.

TigerTeatimes · 01/08/2018 23:47

Worse off than Josh in paternal appreciation stakes Confused I could cry.

Gruach · 02/08/2018 01:49

Interested cash buyer?

That’ll be Justin. No?

(Wasn’t listening properly at that point - so may have missed any clues.)

Minimammoth · 02/08/2018 03:27

Thank you Pseudo for new thread.
If we are looking at the fall of the house of Aldridge, and the rise of the house of Fairbrother, that could be interesting. Kate could plonk spiritual home anywhere, Adam, could be unemployed and dependant on Ian, and just sleep all the time. Jenny could move in with Lilian and Justin. Roauri, and Brian can live in a left over yurt. Job done.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 02/08/2018 03:52

I reckon Robin is on the ropes.

I was surprised that he didn’t sniff at “Scruff Gin”. I can’t see something with that name gracing his liquor cabinet.

Gruach · 02/08/2018 06:58

Robin is worryingly ingratiating - and has made sure to connect with the people he believes to be Ambridge aristocracy. Wonder if he’ll sniff out Justin.

Again, the absence of Carol (‘in the wine trade’) from this story is glaring. Again, it only needed someone to mention her name ...

What is lovely is the way Toby firmly but elegantly stands up to his dad. He was so beautifully loyal to Rex yesterday when Robin was tearing him apart. I wonder if it’s parenthood that’s given him extra confidence, or whether he was always more assertive with Robin - paradoxically gaining favourite son status because of that.

Bekabeech · 02/08/2018 07:58

I think Robin is part of the explanation for why Toby and Rex are how they are. I'm not quite sure why he is so keen on ingratiating himself with Jill, and I doubt he'll succeed.

I think Hannah used to slightly idolise Neil as a great Pigman, and her outburst was at realising he's human. And she is also very anti any signs of corruption. (But she also heard Lilian rather than what Neil said, which did sound like "fixing" things for Emma rather than general concerns.)

R4 · 02/08/2018 08:26

We seem to have set up the Fairbrother family as the new love/hate relationship for the Brookfield Archers, to replace the Grundys.
Can someone tell me when we last heard from Eddie? Is Trevor Harrison OK?
