Unless you blame her for Rob's abuse its pretty harsh to say she is sponging by taking help from the family business which she helped to build.

I don't think she's sponging in that respect, but she does seem to have a lot of childcare available even when she's not working. I speak as a fellow single parent who lives with my parents: they have to babysit for me when I'm at work outside of school hours, there's no way I would then take liberties by also asking them to babysit while I socialise, do hobbies etc. I socialise either with my child or during any school hours when I'm not working because it would be completely unfair on my parents to ask any more of them and I can't get in a professional babysitter while they're at home. I just don't see how Helen can justify so many coffees with Ian etc.

All the areas rubbished by Natasha are those championed by Tom in particular. I heard that as Helen being supportive to Tom who was plainly upset by the analysis. And its a fair point if Natasha's business is very focused to say that a mixed farm is a different type of business (and long term less risky).

Right back at you Helen - making bad cheese in a building supplied by your parents with milk supplied by your parents whilst your kids are looked after by your parents and your huge legal bills are paid for by your parents........

Its a family farm. All of the current generations are continuing from a previous generation. Helen was the driving force behind the creation of the dairy - I remember her going off to college to get the qualifications. Pat was heavily involved but it was originally Helen's idea and creation and mainly her labour until they added the shop and took on extra help.

Her cheese going off the boil seems to be related to changing the milk source - another idea of Tom's and one which Helen initially opposed, concerned for the consistent quality of the milk. She has been proved correct.

Henry went to a child minder some days with wrap around care from GPs - hardly an unusual model. Rob stopped Helen working and left her with nothing of her own. Unless you blame her for Rob's abuse its pretty harsh to say she is sponging by taking help from the family business which she helped to build.

I'm, not sure that many of us have proper formal ideas for our future lives, businesses etc. IMO Bridge Farm is probably one of many farms who cobble things together. They do certainly have the vision to be organic though.

I have wondered for a while why Helen doesn't make some sort of goat's cheese as well as BB , I suppose it could be instead of.

I’d say Susan has an over-inflated perception of the inescapability of her lowly familial status - something that’s always more piercing when she’s forced into some new relationship with the people she considers superior to her.
