Would my front door put you off buying my house?!

Just painted it. Colour is not quite what I was going for. I wanted a lighter dusky pink. Ive only done one coat. Do you think it's too much? It's a wooden door so can be re-painted by buyers. I'm putting my house up for sale soon.

No not at all. Although to be honest around here it would only be serious structural stuff that would put someone off a house. They are being snapped up.

No, we have a pink house near to us and myself and the kids love it. They have pink plant pots to and at Christmas a little pink tree in their porch. Brightens up my day.

No, it wouldn't put me off as a buyer. I'd repaint it though, apologies, as that wouldn't be my choice of colour.

I suppose if people are not entirely keen on the house, it might be one thing too many to have to change though. I would think that general advice about decor to facilitate a sale would be to keep colour choices quite neutral and mainstream.

My son's property has a purple UPVC door so not cheap to change. Didn't put him off buying it and actually makes his place easy to find!

A bit deeper and more dusky might be great. It’s a bit bubblegum at the moment. Perhaps a nice window box in a matching shade?

I think it looks quite nice. I would clean off the one vertical piece of stone that’s to the left of the door as it’ll make quite a big difference in making the door area look clean and fresh.

That’s what I was going to say “it’s the one with the pink door” can be said to any lost friends or delivery drivers etc.

Personally I think it looks fine, but some buyers would either be put off, or feel it necessary to repaint. not sure why you went for a bold colour if you’re putting the house up for sale, surely would have been just as easy to choose something more neutral instead?

What’s the house like inside? Is it a house where a buyer wouldn’t have to do anything? Or is it a house where the purchaser would have to redecorate?

Not at all but then I have an orange door. And it's so quick to repaint for anyone that's not keen.

Its not my choice because I dont like pink. I would be a bit put off by having to paint it but that one thing alone wouldnt put me totally off if I liked the rest of the house

It would not put me off. I like pink. But front doors are very personal and may not be to everyone's taste, they can always repaint if they don't like it.

It could actually be a good selling point in that it draws the eye.

Your front door definitely would not put me off. But the next door one would have me questioning if there is any subsidence or anything going on, it is lopsided!

No. Is just know I wanted to change it/paint it as it’s not my style.

It looks nice but really, if you're about to try and sell your house, generally keeping things fairly neutral and conventional will appeal to more buyers.

People then make the changes they want when they move in.

I don't think many buyers would be put off by potentially wanting a different colour paint on a front door though. That would be especially so if they liked the rest of the house.

No it wouldn’t. It’s not to my taste as my house is lovingly called a mausoleum by my mum but I’d know I could paint it.
