‘Should’ we move out of SW London

We live in a lovely leafy part of South West London. 3 kids and our house has 4 bedrooms so we do technically all fit. The garden is tiny but it is quiet at least. We love where we live but there is such a huge impetus to move because kids ‘need’ more space. Has anyone decided to sit firm and stayed in their little London homes with a growing family? Or has anyone made the move out to Surrey and think that in hindsight they should have stayed? Kids range between 3 and 9.

Sounds like the perfect solution all round. So nice to hear someone say how happy they are.

Good decision I think. All the best!

Great news OP !!

So glad you made this decision and wish you every happiness! That Location episode was eye opening 😊

Great decision

Definitely stay. Before you know it they'll be teens and having excellent public transport on your doorstep becomes essential unless you want to become a 24/7 taxi driver.

I would 100% stay in your position. We have been having similar conversations and I've put my foot down and said I'm not giving up my London postcode! We will have to move eventually as we are in a flat but even so, our community where we are is incredible, we frequently (pre-Covid) went into town for activities and culture, love the green spaces we have. We are SE but if I had a 4 bed house in SW London I would absolutely stay put.

We moved - as did almost all of our friends.
Live is much easier, there are no worries about safety, plenty of do. Children grow up more slowly. Less drugs. More community feel.

We’re still close enough to travel in for the evening.

ParentOfOne · 23/05/2021 09:03

Could I ask you to elaborate on "less drugs"? What areas are you comparing?

Wow - glad to find others feeling the same way as us.

@coco123456789 what did you end up doing?!

MsTSwift · 16/05/2023 15:12

They will thank you as teens!
