What’s going to happen?
Providing our flakey buyer even wants to go ahead now?
We were due to exchange tomorrow and complete Friday.

*11th March! Forgot which month we were in!

lovelyupnorth · 29/03/2020 09:03

Glad it all worked @igglypop. We had completed last week 20th and moved Wednesday was hard work as removal company binned on us last minute but managed to borrow a van from work and a pickup form a friend and did it between us.

afrikat · 30/03/2020 12:37

Anyone else still hoping to move this week? Our solicitor still heading for completion on Friday and our removal company still saying they are working so desperately hoping it all works out!

Bezzi · 30/03/2020 13:27

We are hoping to move on Friday. Solicitors are aiming to exchange and complete on the same day so I guess it won't be definite until then. Friday can't come soon enough!!

We're emptying our house into storage this week so there's nothing to move on Friday as we couldn't find a removals firm so it had better go ahead!!

afrikat · 30/03/2020 15:15

Bezzi that sounds so stressful! Really hope it all goes well for you

0htooooodles · 30/03/2020 15:30

We're still in limbo. We sent a few emails to our solicitor to pass up the chain to try and sort something out, we also sent an email to our buyer to hold out for the time being and explained the delay. Hoping it all works out Sad

snaxinyourslacks · 30/03/2020 16:22

Well our removals company has pulled out as they can't keep the workers 2 metres apart. Have just hired a van to do it ourselves .

PollockBollocks · 30/03/2020 16:45

We were supposed to exchange and complete this week but the vendors Solicitors have gone quiet and so has their estate agent Sad

It’s a very short chain and an A&E doctor is moving into ours. She needs to move ASAP.

Very upset. I wish we could contact the seller direct (the house is empty) but don’t know their name or how to find contact info

TulipsfromAmsterdam · 30/03/2020 21:03

@pollocksbollocks are vendor's details on memorandum of sale?

PollockBollocks · 30/03/2020 21:35

TulipsfromAmsterdam yes they were! We found it in the end. Phew!!

Getting rather nervous about the whole thing. Chocolate helps!

Imissthebeach · 01/04/2020 11:38

Is anyone still making any progress towards exchange? We were supposed to exchange & complete last week, then this week & now it’s looking like next week or the week after.

We’re downsizing into an empty property & it’s all going ahead but our vendors online conveyancers & estate agents are being absolutely appalling!!

We’re also aiming to move closer to the hospital as my husband is a key worker. The sooner we move the better Sad

Luckily loads of van hire around here and they’re all open for business!!

0htooooodles · 01/04/2020 11:45

@Imissthebeach we've had no response from our solicitors. Still in limbo 🙁

Bezzi · 01/04/2020 11:54

We should be exchanging and completing on Friday. So far so good, everything is set up, properties are vacant and everyone is willing, but I guess we won't know for sure until it's all gone through.
Hope everyone else has successes Daffodil

Bezzi · 01/04/2020 11:55

@0htooooodles the most frustrating hit is when people just don't respond :(

0htooooodles · 01/04/2020 12:11

@Bezzi it's rubbish! I might make them wait for their money...they expect us to wait to move, might just as ' you'll get your money in the next 6-12 months when the world is back to normal!'

Imissthebeach · 01/04/2020 12:21

Our sellers Solicitors just won’t respond & nor does their estate agent. Same online business! They’re also answering enquiries terribly and my conveyancer said they’re lack of knowledge is a concern.

Whhhy us? Literally 2 enquires away from it all being over

0htooooodles · 01/04/2020 13:05

@Imissthebeach we're literally at the last part too. We were meant to exchange and complete weeks ago, but our sellers solicitor fucked up some documents, and was so slow in fixing them, and then all this happened. We're now trapped waiting until the people at the end of the chain decide they're ready to move. Just so sick of it all. We've been doing this since October Sad

Imissthebeach · 01/04/2020 14:09

@0htooooodles oh gosh that sounds horrendous. Sounds like they aren’t competent at all! Sad have you done any packing yet?

Every time I unpack something - it progresses just a tiny bit.

I’m not usually superstitious 😂 but am wondering if I unpacked loads we’d probably exchange & complete!!

I know I’ve lost my marbles

Jonb6 · 01/04/2020 14:13

Moving house is in the list of allowed activity in the coronavirus act.

0htooooodles · 01/04/2020 14:30

@Jonb6 it is, yes. Except when it comes to the people at the end of our chain who are refusing to move until all this is over with 😩

OutComeTheWolves · 01/04/2020 18:00

Ours to ohtooo or our buyers' solicitors in any case. What I was wondering is why would Solicitors be like this.

Obviously completing and exchanging on the same day minimises the risk of real problems, so what do they have to gain by saying no exchanges until after this is all over. Surely they're just cutting off a large portion of their income and risking not getting paid at all.

It's a genuine question btw not a dig at solicitors because I have no knowledge at all of the property market/conveyancing.

LolaSkoda · 01/04/2020 18:40

Sadly they’re not gaining anything.

They’re saying no delay between exchange and completion as if you get ill or die from this horrible virus, contractually you have still committed to buy the house after exchange.

You can lose your deposit and incur further costs.

The whole situation is shitty but the lawyers are trying to protect their clients.

OutComeTheWolves · 01/04/2020 19:38

Sorry @LolaSkoda I don't think I explained myself very well. Our buyers solicitors are refusing to exchange and complete until this is resolved. I completely understand why there's no gap between exchange and completion - and am more than happy to do both on the same day. I just don't understand why they've put a stop to both.

LolaSkoda · 01/04/2020 19:47

Ah I get you! Then I agree, I don’t understand that either!

Imissthebeach · 01/04/2020 19:48

I’m scared about doing both on the same day! Packing up the whole house & it might fall through whilst it’s all in the van. Eeek!

I’ll have no idea when to redirect post and sort out utilities ahead of time. And there’s no broadband installations happening before mid June - that’s what EE said anyway!

The whole thing terrifies me but my previous two sales have fallen through...so I think I’m naturally worried
