What’s going to happen?
Providing our flakey buyer even wants to go ahead now?
We were due to exchange tomorrow and complete Friday.

Thanks user. Good luck at work this week!

igglypop · 24/03/2020 19:53

@Treacletoots that gives me hope.

Treacletoots · 24/03/2020 19:58

Yeah. We didn't expect it after last night. However AnyVan are still legally operating, even in Italy. Worth giving them a look?

OVienna · 24/03/2020 20:09

Good luck all of you. Fingers crossed!

Chuffaluffa · 24/03/2020 20:47

Thanks all for this thread. I moved in with my parents four weeks ago with my three children, expecting to have completed by now, my parents are both vulnerable to infections and two of my children have chronic lung issues. My husband is buying me out and his mortgage company have delayed massively, it should have been so straight forward. My sellers are buying a vacant property and so we’re the only chain, can’t see them pulling out- they’ve shown me how to use the boiler etc, but I really want to get out of posing more risk than I need to to my family. I don’t know if this thread is reassuring or not, but I’m relieved I’m not the only one in the country in this mess.

StylishMummy · 24/03/2020 22:19

We're selling to a cash buyer and moving in with family, we're having to move stuff gradually as when it comes to completion, we can't rely on movers Sad very stressful time but we're fortunate we can break the chain for the onward purchase

Iola4 · 24/03/2020 22:33

Hi all, we should have exchanged last Friday but our solicitor was slow but has now seemed to speed up.
Ours is a part exchange for a new build.
Solicitors on both sides are extremely keen to get us in Friday, we have our own van and will be doing our own removal, the sales lady will unlock door and put keys in letter box for us when she gets the call to go.
I'm so stressed out, then reading all this has just made my stress worst :(
We are moving 10mins away, we live rurally.
Concerning the Land Registry...can someone please explain this to me? We signed piles of forms last Friday (although it wasn't an actual exchange...I think our solicitor panicked and covered her arse when she realised what was going down). Do the solicitors in England do this electronically? We did sign something regarding a land registry as our solicitor mumbled something about the fee being a rip off.
But could I just get clarity please. I have information overload at the moment :(

igglypop · 25/03/2020 07:02

Only 2 more days to see if this goes ahead.
I’m nervous.

Flipping heck, how nerve wracking!

Hope it all goes through

stressandmorestress · 25/03/2020 07:45

@coffeeandgin24 will you give it a rest? You've commented on multiple property posts saying the same thing, as you don't understand the basics of house purchases please take your unwanted opinion elsewhere. As I've already stated, we all obviously started this process before things were like this and people have spent thousands/will lose thousands if they pull out now.

We were at the very end stages and it has been delayed by 3 weeks until lockdown has been reviewed. Not sure my anxiety can take anymore stress at the moment.

Treacletoots · 25/03/2020 07:52

Well said @stressandmorestress

Only those who give precisely 0 shits about anybody but themselves would pull out of a house purchase they've been trying to do for months, sometimes years.

Sit down and zip it @coffeeandgin24

afrikat · 25/03/2020 08:53

How is everyone else doing? I am trying not to stress too much but I'm really hoping to get some clarity in the next few days.

Our solicitor is carrying on moving towards completion for now (supposed to be Friday 3rd) but is waiting on guidance from the law society to make sure that legally we can go ahead.

Our removal firm says it is business as usual for them. Our buyer seems keen to crack on. Waiting to get confirmation from our seller that if we are allowed to, they are also good to go. Am assuming if anyone is self isolating we won't be able to move but so many variables

igglypop · 25/03/2020 09:12

I spoke to agents this morning.
They’re still pushing to go ahead.
Our removals man is dropping boxes off today.
My main concern is that either the solicitors are told no more exchanges and completions or that Boris gives an update that causes someone in our chain to pull out.

Rlw2020 · 25/03/2020 09:18

@igglypop I'm in the same boat. The not knowing is awful. I am praying that they don't stop the exchanges as we should have exchanged already with completion this Friday.
We have the hire vans sat on our driveway and we are all packed!

Fingers crossed we can get over the line.

@Coffeeandgin24 please stop commenting, you have no idea what this means for us and it is just unhelpful and quite frankly annoying.

igglypop · 25/03/2020 09:40

I’m not seeing these coffee and gin posts people keep talking about. Thankfully!

OP posts:
snaxinyourslacks · 25/03/2020 09:50

We are waiting for exchange and completion today! Yesterday our solicitor tried to put us off but since there is no chain and the house we are going to is empty, he is going to try push it through today.

poppym12 · 25/03/2020 10:07

I'm being loaded onto a van. Managed to find a company at 5.30 last night. We've packed what we could in a few hours, the rest we'll have to move ourselves in our cars.

LolaSkoda · 25/03/2020 10:11

Pleased for you, poppy!

igglypop · 25/03/2020 10:20

That’s amazing @poppym12
Did you exchange and complete today? Can’t remember your situation.

OP posts:
user1487194234 · 25/03/2020 10:24

For anyone in Scotland there is an update from the registers of Scotland and the Law society, there are discussions going on with a view to sorting something out ,awaiting further update
If you are settling today they are trying to sort something out to let it go ahead

igglypop · 25/03/2020 10:48

@user1487194234 hoping the uk will still be ok. We are still aiming to do a simultaneous. As long as the law society doesn’t put any restrictions on and nothing comes out from Boris re moving house.
I’ve never been so stressed.
Sat amongst a house of boxes and still won’t know til Friday what’s happening.

OP posts:
poppym12 · 25/03/2020 11:13

No. Our rental is being sold so we bought a small flat. Fortunately it completed on Friday so we had the keys to get some decorating done (which is now on hold).

R2519 · 25/03/2020 12:22

Michael Gove has said people should cancel plans to exchange contracts and not move. Perhaps that means further measures are coming in. I can understand those who have already exchanged and have to move continuing with the process, but if you havent exchanged yet i would be very reluctant too. Banks are also reviewing mortgages so there maybe some last minute changes to affordability and offers withdrawn. I moved end of last year, without having to deal with all this added stress. Good luck to those who are in that process but i would recommend pausing until this calms down. We are set for a recession after this and house prices will fall so if you are taking a high % LTV mortgage you may be in negative equity very quickly.

friendlycat · 25/03/2020 13:06

Yes Michael Gove has told people to pause and not go to exchange. This has just come out today. Perhaps the Law Society will immediately give some guidelines. I understand this is incredibly stressful for everyone who is in this situation as moving is bad enough as it is. But if you really do not need to move do you want to do so? Think about service providers that you need in amongst all of this coming into your new home etc. All the removal people etc. I can see many chains now falling apart and I feel for everybody in amongst this nightmare. But the bigger nightmare is staying well and saving lives.

jimmyjammy001 · 25/03/2020 13:12

Yes mortgage lending and exchanging contracts to be stopped. This is not good for the housing market.
