Early days... Babies due May 2010. Lets start our journeys togethers now!!

Hiya,

Just thought it might be nice to start a thread for those of us due in May 2010. I know its only early days but I followed one of these whilst being pg with DS1 and it was invaluable.

Couldn't find one for my dates this time round (might be wrong?) so thought it would be nice to get together, share stories and follow the progress with some others in the same time-period.

I'm due 6/7 May I think. Didn't really plan to have such a short gap between DS1 and DC2 but also didn't do much to prevent it. (IYSWIM!)

Have started feeling nauseous already(!) which I can't believe as I didn't have it nearly as early as this last time round. No sickness last time and a very enjoyable pregnancy - so am hoping for the same again this time round. Slight disaster with giving birth 2 weeks early with no hospital notes or hospital bag, two hours from home and at a family funeral...(!) So am going to stay AT HOME near the end this time round. Really looking forward to giving birth again. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience last time and looking forward to hearing other peoples stories and sharing our pg's together!

Oh... gap between DS1 and DC2 will be 16 months! Ahhhhhh.

Hi newmomma!

Really nice to see you've started this, I'm sure I'll be posting every worry on here over the next few months!

I'm pregnant with my first baby. Slightly shocked tbh! It was only my first month off the pill which made it an even bigger shock! Due around 14th May.

No sickness yet, but soooo tired all the time and weeing like a camel!

Hope you're well (aside from the sickness of course!)

Hello all .... I have just discovered I am expecting DC3, and DD2 is only 5 months old ............. Will have 3 under 3. Agggggggggghh. But delighted at the same time. No sickness yet.

I may well sneak under the May fence as my due date is 30th April. Due with my 4th, BIG shock as not planned. I'm having a scan tomorrow as I had ovarian cysts last time so as I'm feeling SOOOOOO sick I am hoping that there is only one baby in there - will have a heart attack if it's twins!!

Newmomma I had a small gap between my first two (15 months) and although it's hard work at the time, it really pays off later on - and Madigan if you're going to have three under three, then surely they'll go to school in consecutive years so you get your life back quicker ? I had 3 under 4 for a bit - that was fun!!

This time, my DS2 will have JUST turned 2, and he's already showing signs of being VERY strong willed - so I'm really looking forward to the terrible twos with a newborn - NOT!

First1 - congrats on baby number 1 - hope that you get to enjoy a lovely first pregnancy and get spoilt rotten (it doesn't seem to happen in subsequent ones quite so much!

hi i am due in may seems like suuucccchhhh a long time! this will be my 4th baby i have a 7 yr old 4 yr old and 23 month old i have had my 6 week scan and all looks good i am so excited new pram hehehehe x x hope everyone else is feeling ok x x

first1 Congrats! It is sooo exciting first time round - but can be daunting and emotional at times - don't be afraid to ask any advice or use us as a shoulder to cry/shout/rant/scream with joy on!

Madigan I thought my life was going to be hard with two under 2!! I think you should expect lots of requests for advice from me! Do you think it gets easier with each baby?

Panicmode Fab name btw! Sorry to hear about your cysts - fingers crossed they don't cause you any problems. Is there a chance it might be twins?? My MIL told me last time round that me husbands grandfather was a twin so I guess there is a small chance mine could be too... Escaped it with DS1 though - but feeling much sicker much sooner than last time so wondering if it might be a possibility...

lizzie942 thanks for letting me know about the antenatal thread - I might go and check it out.

joshark 6 week scan - lucky thing! Are you in the UK? I don't get a scan until 12 weeks...? I love seeing the baby on the screen. I remember being gutted after my 20 week scan thinking I wouldn't be able to see my baby again for another 20 weeks, until giving birth. It seemed like such a long time...

Welcome butterscotch! I think your gap between babies is what I would have planned had I been thinking properly!!

Nice to 'meet' you all ladies!! Hope we can keep in touch and keep this thread going all the way until May...

Anyone got any information regarding Maternity Leave btw? Am not sure whether I will have accrued holiday whilst being off on ML for the last 9 months? And if I do - whether or not I can use it as and when or if it has to be taken before returning to work (in approx one month; boo)?

Newmomma - you will accrue 5 weeks of holiday over the year you are on maternity leave. So you are owed 3 and a bit

Very relieved this morning - it's not twins!!! Neither are there any ovarian cysts, so feeling much more positive (or rather less negative) about it all at the moment.

And I swear I'm feeling flutterings, but I'm only 7+4 today, and the baby is 17mm long, so it can't be!

Fab news Panicmode - must be such a relief!
Think it might be a bit early to feel anything - I felt DS1 at 17 weeks and even then people kept telling me I was imagining it - but they got stronger and stronger - so I wasn't!

Thanks Bessie123. Do you know if I can take the holiday when I want or does it have to be taken before I return to work?

Morning ladies! Woken up this morning with what feels like 2 lead balloons on my chest! My boobs are sooo heavy! Is this going to stay with me till the end now or can I look forward to feeling slightly lighter up top again soon!? xx

Hi, im due in May, not sure on the dates yet... i already have a little boy who will be 17months at the time (crazy or not?)
A little worried at the moment though as i had an early scan due to some spotting last week and they said they don't know if the baby is gorwing or not, either it's stoppepd growing (not good) or my dates are wrong and am earlier that i thought so going back for another scan on Monday which seems like a lifetime away!
i'm really hoping though that this little bean pulls through.
NEWMAMMA did you plan yours this close together, the very few people that know about us seem to think it must be a big mistake and they all keep
saying "you must be mad... it's going to be so hard" not really want you want to be hearing! ha ha

First1 i had sore / heavy boobs with my first, i got it at around 7/8 weeks and lastesd for a few weeks, it got to the point were i couldn't get in the shower becuase it was so sore but i was pleased becuase i knew my body was just chaging for the baby!
it will ease off!xx

newmomma - that depends on when the holiday year starts and finishes at your job and, if applicable, whether you are allowed to hold holiday over.

First1 - I got sore boobs about a week ago (not even 4 weeks pg) and they stopped hurting on Monday. But I only stopped bf about 3 and a half months ago and had only just stopped lactating, so the milk ducts might have been almost big enough already.

daniwalkes We didn't really plan them so close together (I didn't expect my cycleto return to normal quite so quickly after just ONE period!) but we're both v. happy about it.

I'm SO pleased you said that - I have been getting really down about all the negative comments people keep saying when I tell them. The standard response seems to be "Oh F**k, really?!" And the same as you getting very beored with the negativity - your life is going to be so hard, blah blah. Even my Mum seems to be struggling to be positive about it and she had 4!!

First1 painful boobs do go down quite quickly during pregnancy - but expect the 'swelling' to return when the baby is born!! My boobs didn't feel normal again until about 4 months in...

i often feel like hitting some people, the comment so far was " wow, you must be gutted, what an awful thing to happen so soon. you'll never cope! and think of how fat you'll get becuase it's not like you've lost all the baby weight from last time is it?"
how is that helpful? i don't really understand what sort of reaction they're expecting from me.... i just said "actually this one was planned and and i cant wait to do it all over again and being pregnant is the best regardless of how fat you mgiht get!"
this baby wasn't planned but i wasn't about to tell them that!
Some people hey!

Just want next monday to come round to make sure all is ok, worrying alot though and trying not to get too excited but it's really hard!

daniwalkes Those are horrible comments Cheer up babe, the babies may be close in age, but just think how nice it'll be in the future! Don't let those comments get to you, you're having a new baby and that's fab news! xxx

i'm not too worried what other people say. we're happy and thats all that counts. the person who said it is in their late 30's and has no kids (always said she never wanted them) so i think she's just jealous!
it's so great to have people to talk to on here though.
I'm very lucky that i have an easy little boy, he's always slept through the night since he was 6 weeks old and he's a star so im not worried at all!x

daniwalkes you're so lucky your son slept through from 6 weeks. my little boy waited until over 6 months and still has the odd blip. we had so many troubles when he was born and i think maybe people are thinking it will be as hard 2nd time round - but i feel more confident this time that i will be able to cope better as i've done it once. (and hoping for no tongue-tie this time!)

you're right - the baby weight comment is a classic. and 'the new baby will wake DS1 and then you'll never ever sleep again', 'you'll be skint forever','breastfeeding TWO at once??'.. blah blah blah. but you're right - i throughly enjoyed being pregnant last time round (and giving birth i might add - almost addictive!) and am really over the moon to be doing it again. i'm not naive - i know my life will be hard. but why can't people say something positive??

I loved the birth.. people think i'm lying but i'm really not, there is something very addictive about it and i loved the excitement of it all, everything!
the other classic is... you'll never have another one the same, every child / birth is different so you wont be as lucky this time round.
im keeping everything crossed for next week... i really want this baby!

I had a (planned) 15 month gap between my first two - I think the nicest comment we had was "haven't you two heard of contraception?"....you can imagine the comments I'm getting now I'm having a surprise number 4!!

I won't lie to you - it was hard work having two so close together BUT I never had a problem with jealousy, and although they fight a lot at the moment (it's a phase, it's a phase!) they are the best of friends and it's really paid off. I'm hoping that my younger two will also have a good bond even though there's going to be a more classic 24 month gap between them.
