Hiya,

Just thought it might be nice to start a thread for those of us due in May 2010. I know its only early days but I followed one of these whilst being pg with DS1 and it was invaluable.

Couldn't find one for my dates this time round (might be wrong?) so thought it would be nice to get together, share stories and follow the progress with some others in the same time-period.

I'm due 6/7 May I think. Didn't really plan to have such a short gap between DS1 and DC2 but also didn't do much to prevent it. (IYSWIM!)

Have started feeling nauseous already(!) which I can't believe as I didn't have it nearly as early as this last time round. No sickness last time and a very enjoyable pregnancy - so am hoping for the same again this time round. Slight disaster with giving birth 2 weeks early with no hospital notes or hospital bag, two hours from home and at a family funeral...(!) So am going to stay AT HOME near the end this time round. Really looking forward to giving birth again. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience last time and looking forward to hearing other peoples stories and sharing our pg's together!

Thanks for the congrats Congratulations to all of you too!

daniwalkes - I think I'm 5 weeks now.

argento · 16/09/2009 13:15

Ooh, I also have a quick question for those of you who know what you're doing! This is my first pregnancy, and a bit of a "suprise", so I haven't been taking folic acid or anything - is it worth starting now?

MiniMarmite · 16/09/2009 13:15

Congrats everyone and thanks for starting the thread Newmomma. I'll join the antenatal one too.

I came on MN today to find somewhere to post as I've just found out I'm pregnant - if all goes well baby will be due around end of May.

DS1 is 12 months and this is a little earlier than we were expecting so shocked but very pleased!

I had a MMC a couple of years ago so I get very nervous at this stage so even writing that I'm expecting makes me feel a bit edgy!

MiniMarmite · 16/09/2009 13:16

Argento - definitely start taking folic acid now and until you reach the 2nd trimester.

PanicMode · 16/09/2009 13:19

argento I wouldn't stress about the fact that you haven't, but would now take folic acid until 12 weeks. This baby wasn't planned so I haven't been taking any folic acid in the run up to conceiving but I am now taking a Boots multivit thingy that is ok for the whole 9 months. I have to confess that I'm not religious about taking them, but I do try to eat lots of fruit and veg and bread, so should be getting folic acid through my diet.

MiniMarmite congratulations and lots of sticky vibes for this baby.

argento · 16/09/2009 13:24

Thanks, I'll nip to Boots today.

first1 · 16/09/2009 14:48

Just booked my 6 week scan next week woop! £140 but totally worth it if it'll calm me down! Has anyone else had an early scan? The other ones i'll have on the NHS. Just wondering what other peoples experiences of it are. I'm really nervous

first1 · 16/09/2009 14:50

argento i'm taking Pregnacare every day. It's two tablets. One's omega oils and the other is a multivit with the 400mg of folic acid. Just another suggestion for you

PanicMode · 16/09/2009 15:14

first1 I had a scan yesterday at 7+3 - I had an external which I was surprised about as last time it was an internal probe. The 'baby' was only 17mm so you see the shape and I saw the heart beating (once the sonographer had pointed it out!) and it was very reassuring....although obviously you see a lot more detail at the 12 week scan.

first1 · 16/09/2009 15:17

Thanks panicmode. Think I'll be 6+4 at the scan. Not expecting to see alot, just hoping to hear a heartbeat, that's all I ask for! Been told it's an internal. Glad everything went well at yours.

GiPi1 · 16/09/2009 19:25

daniwalkes roll on Monday !!!

Hi everyone - am due on 30th April so am 7+5 - already have ds and dd aged 7 & 5 - from failed marriage this little one not planned, and partner (or should i say now-ex partner is "absent". So, am single mum but very happy to be having my little bean.

Have had bleeding for last 2 days and scan today which showed bean to be doing well - phew but bleeding has continued and I am not sure what is going on as sonographer confirmed that miscarriage is DEF not imminent !!!

Boobs are bit tender and tummy starting to swell but no sickness or anything else !!!

Hope we can all help each other out when neceesary - I think the next 33 weeks or so are going to go VERY slowly !!!

xx

tinylion · 16/09/2009 19:28

Hello everyone - I'm due around 12 May - I have a 2.5 year old dd already. We've been trying for over a year, so very pleased to be pregnant again.

Boobs are incredibly tender and MASSIVE. I'm only 5 foot so I look very top heavy.

And ohhhhh feel sick, when I get hungry. and very very very tired.

Just like last time.

BUt not like last time, I am far more chilled out and accepting of the whole thing...

PanicMode · 16/09/2009 21:13

Hi GiPi - we're due date buddies! I'm also due on the 30th April, with an unplanned number 4. Sorry to hear you're having a tough time with the bleeding and everything. I had a scan yesterday too - it was good to see a heartbeat and to find out that it's not twins as I'm feeling SOOOOOO sick!!

NK490a1b2bX123c75f36ec · 17/09/2009 10:59

I am also due 23rd April and its my first. Very nervous and just now getting excited about it all.
Does anyone know if it is safe to drink herbal tea with Raspberry? I have heard its something you have towards the end to stimulate labour???
My nausea is easing off now but am really sensitive to smells

babymeg · 17/09/2009 11:21

Hi All, I'm joining in this thread today too as I've just found out I'm pregnant too!! Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeee So Excited, can you tell xx

Ebb · 17/09/2009 11:37

Congratulations babymeg and everyone else! I'm due Dc #2 May 25th so very early days. Had a bit of a bleed on Tuesday and a bit of abdominal pain on one side so seeing the Doctor this afternoon. Hopefully everything will be ok.

I always feel a bit 'in limbo' in the first 12weeks. Until I see the baby at the first scan and know everythings ok then there's always that slight doubt of 'am I actually pregnant?'

Slight nausea and boobs a little heavy but nothing major except the wish to maybe hibernate for the winter!

Looking forward to sharing the journey with everyone.

first1 · 17/09/2009 15:14

congrats everyone! I'm 5+4 today and goin to see the doc because i've been having some tummy pains really hope everything is ok. got scan booked for 6+5. just hope they don't think it needs to be sooner. really scared

argento · 17/09/2009 16:03

Cramps and bleeding all afternoon

first1 · 17/09/2009 16:19

just been to docs and can breathe a sigh of relief. no bleeding so apparently its the old uterus expaning and stretching ligaments. bloody painful tho! argento, have u been to the docs? bleeding doesnt always mean bad hunny..implantation bleeding perhaps?

argento · 17/09/2009 16:22

Haven't been to the doctor yet - will see how I feel tomorrow. I don't think it's implantation though, too late for that and too heavy.

daniwalkes · 17/09/2009 17:48

argento im in a similar situation. i had some bleeding and cramping so went to the local epu and had a scan, they said either my dates are wrong or the baby has stopped growing. however they don't think the bleeding has anything to do with it and they put it down to just random bleeding.
I did have this with my first pregnancy though, for the fist 14 weeks i bleed on and off and he's a big healthy 9 month old so 9 times out of 10 bleeding is nothing to worry about.

Have you got an epu near you?

argento · 17/09/2009 17:54

There's a maternity hospital about 10 minutes walk from my flat, so I guess they have an EPU there. Not sure if there's anything they'll be able to tell me at only 4/5 weeks though? I'm working away at the moment though, heading home late tonight, so can't do anything til tomorrow anyway.

I'm holding onto that little sliver of hope that it's just random bleeding.

daniwalkes · 17/09/2009 18:03

it's horrible that there is nothing that can be done at this early stage!
i think they say they wont scan until 6 weeks but that could be different for each place.
I hope your ok though, and although easier said than done but try not to worry!x

PanicMode · 17/09/2009 18:57

argento sorry to hear that you're bleeding - but as others have said, it doesn't have to be bad news. A friend of mine had significant bleeding through her first trimester and has just delivered her gorgeous, healthy baby.
Stay positive and try not to worry (too much).

babymeg · 18/09/2009 12:04

Hi Argento, I'm sure you will be absolutely fine, my friend had heavy bleeding right up until 2nd trimester and she has a gorgeous baby boy 2 months old now, everything crossed for you as I know how it feels to be in limbo, I had 2 mmc's last year and waiting with baited breath to get past the 1st trimester
