Hiya,

Just thought it might be nice to start a thread for those of us due in May 2010. I know its only early days but I followed one of these whilst being pg with DS1 and it was invaluable.

Couldn't find one for my dates this time round (might be wrong?) so thought it would be nice to get together, share stories and follow the progress with some others in the same time-period.

I'm due 6/7 May I think. Didn't really plan to have such a short gap between DS1 and DC2 but also didn't do much to prevent it. (IYSWIM!)

Have started feeling nauseous already(!) which I can't believe as I didn't have it nearly as early as this last time round. No sickness last time and a very enjoyable pregnancy - so am hoping for the same again this time round. Slight disaster with giving birth 2 weeks early with no hospital notes or hospital bag, two hours from home and at a family funeral...(!) So am going to stay AT HOME near the end this time round. Really looking forward to giving birth again. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience last time and looking forward to hearing other peoples stories and sharing our pg's together!

KATE - Congratulations!!

So glad that all is now well - sorry to hear about your traumatic start (my first was similar re feeding/jaundice etc and he's now a very healthy 6 year old!) but I understand how difficult it is when it isn't a 'textbook' start to parenthood.

Welcome Jessica Grace (lovely name) and hope you can now relax and enjoy the babymoon!

PanicMode · 26/04/2010 10:50

Oh and Madigan - I have had 1 and 3 in most of my pgs, and this time round had a chest infection late on (I very rarely get anything!) but I think this year has been hideous for bugs and illness.

Hope you feel better soon!

KateM77 · 26/04/2010 12:14

Thanks Madigan and PanicMode, it's reassuring to hear about others going through it and all subsequently being fine.

I suffered horribly from insomnia and loo trips too...think the insomnia was good preparation for a baby who seems to be a night owl!

first1 · 26/04/2010 13:46

Oh fab news Kate! So sorry to here it's been a chaotic start but lovely to hear she's home safe and sound. I've chosen Grace as a middle name too. Love it!

Madigan · 27/04/2010 07:27

good morning all - how is everyone today?

morethemerrier · 27/04/2010 08:57

Morning Madigan!

Well, I've been awake since about 4.30am, finally got up about 6am, done everything so now contemplating cleaning the windows!

So, def with you on the insonia thing!

Also got a sore throat, toilet trips becoming more and more frequent luckily got a downstairs loo!

37+4 today so still a way to go yet!

How are you, did you sleep any better last night?

I think Kate is right about insomnia being mother natures way of preparing us for the sleepless nights!

At least its a lovely sunny day! I'm off window cleaning!

pinkstuff · 27/04/2010 09:07

morning am really fed up now!!. am due saturday and have been having strong bh's for 3 weeks, clear outs for a week and a bit of mucus plug every day for two weeks. oh and mood swings for 9 months!!!
I had a sweep last week and am having another on friday. my last two labours were induced and i really want to go myself this time as dont want to be confined to bed.
I really cannot bear another two weeks of waiting, seriously considering castor oil now.
moaning over how is everyone else doing?

first1 · 27/04/2010 09:16

Morning all! I can totally sympathise with the insomnia. Last night was my first good night's sleep since Wednesday, and I think purely because I was just sooo exhausted my body had finally given into letting me sleep. I feel human this morning! Been having on/off periody pains since Friday, nothing major but they do get my hopes up. Only 37+1 though, so this could drag on for another 5 bloody weeks! Had a huge barney with DH yesterday. I feel really bad about it, I'm a nightmare to live with right now, EVERYTHING pisses me off!!

Pinkstuff Saturday is so soon you lucky thing! Hopefully labour will happen before you attempt the castor oil, I've heard the effects are not pretty.

Morethemerrier & Madigan* Me too on the sore throat! Get yourself a bottle of simple linctus, even though it's more for coughs, the warming feeling definitely helps.

Madigan · 27/04/2010 23:28

MtheM and First1 - what is it with these sore throats? I have had a sore throat for about 5 days now - will try linctus, but nothing else has shifted it. Just sore on one side, and gland has swollen too .......... unpleasant.

Insomnia as usual - but last night managed 6 hours of sleep which was a miracle. Felt a bit better today as a result.

Pinkstuff- hope everything kicks off for you soon! It all sounds as though it is about to? But I am no expert in these matters ... about to have my 3rd elcs .... have never felt so much of a twinge of a labour pain.

Night night all, take care xxx

Jayfer · 28/04/2010 10:10

Its my due date tomorrow and there are no signs of him making an appearance. Time has slowed down. I had an attempted sweep last week but cervix was shut and having another one tomorrow, fingers crossed.

I've been getting strong BH and period pain for a while but that's the only signs. The last two weeks have been SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO slow.

Top Tip: don't be organised and get all the jobs done for the week before the due date!

pinkstuff · 28/04/2010 13:38

hi jayfer i know how you feel. ive had all the signs or three weeks now, and asweep last week, which is really disheartening when it doesnt work.
i am not ready yet, still need moses basket and pram. sometimes though i think if your not ready, your mind isnt relaxed enough to let things kick off.
ive got sweep friday so really hope it works, my cervix was favourable last time, and registrar thought it would work, but all i got was a little backache!!!.
fingers crossed that yours works.
i am expecting a girl and really need to meet her now. is this your first.
let us know about tomorrow

pinkstuff · 28/04/2010 13:42

madigan, i have had sore throat and cough for weeks now, probs just cause our immune systems are low, as baby takes everything first as they continue to do all through their chilhoods- bless them. (sorry am mother of teen girls

Madigan · 28/04/2010 22:59

How many DC do you have Pinkstuff? This is my 3rd - have 2 DDs but they are much younger than yours ... 2yo and 1yo. Yes, chaos will reign in this house from 10 May!!

Hope something happens for you v soon!

first1 · 29/04/2010 08:12

Morning all. Have a little dilemma so your thoughts please! That sore throat we've all been talking about has turned into a full blown cold (about the 100th this pregnancy) so I know in a few days it'll pass. But I'm suppose to be having a checkup with the GP at 11.30. Do I go still or will I get in trouble for spreading my germs? I have a bit of a concern re baby's position because everyone previously has said something different so would really like to establish it once and for all at this stage. But I don't want to be told off!

morethemerrier · 29/04/2010 08:44

Morning First1!

Colds are rubbish at this stage of pregnancy, just when we are trying to get our 'game plan' together for giving birth we get floored with a cold!

I think you should go, considering the waiting room will be full of coughing sneezing people anyway!

It will also get the ball rolling to check babies position, which in itself is fairly important at this late stage!

At the end of the day, no-one should complain after all you are ill and entitled to care like everyone else!

Good luck, I hope your babies heading in the right direction!

first1 · 29/04/2010 09:12

Thanks MtM! I'm going to go and just wait in the car until the last minute!

DH has left me with my simple linctus, lockets and a packet of paracetemol, oh and SITC boxset It's going to be a fun day!

How's the insomnia? Hope you're sleeping better x

pinkstuff · 29/04/2010 10:10

morning all, still waiting and getting quite cross now, i'm not even bothered about the pain, just need my body back now!!!. slept or 2 hours last night, took ages to go off, then when i did sleep i ended up having an erotic dream, so still no rest
madigan i have 4, 2 girls and two boys. had stopped at three!!!!. dont ask.
sorry to hear llots o you suffering with colds. i'm not .
it must be horrible, good reason to rest though.

morethemerrier · 29/04/2010 14:22

Hi first1, hope your appointment went well, and Doc has confirmed head down!

Was awake from 4am until about 6am, was just contemplating getting up to finish knitting baby blanket, when I must have dropped off!

Had to get up at 7.15 to get DS1 ready for school but could have stayed in bed! Typical!

Pinkstuff, at your dream, I've had lots this time, often quite at myself!

Was expecting the MIL to descend first thing this morning, she has a habit of turning up unnanounced esp when I'm not dressed and the sink is full of dishes!

Given my current insomnia and 'nesting' (who else thinks that a man came up with that little gem to make us feel that its our duty to clean every oriface/object/cook/bake etc whilst being the size of a blimp without complaint?)

Sorry, went of on a tangent,so given the above and the house is immaculate it stands to reason that she did not turn up!

Pinkstuff/jayfer I had two sweeps last time, neither worked hope you have better luck tommorow! Have you had any other signs?

Jayfer · 29/04/2010 16:57

Interesting sort of mw appt this morning. Ended up spending hours in the Day Assessment Unit. The baby's heart beat was all funny, kept skipping beats really randomly. After monitoring the doc's said he's ok but may need a scan after he's born. His heart beat is still funny but he's moving about so the doc's aren't worried (I am!).
Then MW tried a sweep and it was same as last week, so all the period pain and BH I've had all week (which I was told would help the cervix get ready) have all been for nothing.

Fed up and worried. Anyone experienced something similar?

morethemerrier · 29/04/2010 18:02

Ahh Jayfer, sending you a virtual hug x

Try not to get too stressed, I am sure its just one of those things that sort themselves out.

I had a lot thrown at me when I was having DS1, not related to the heart but his brain, thankfully all was well but the worry was always there.

Just try and relax and focus on meeting your little man, which I am sure will be really soon.

I'm not a fan of sweeps, I think they just add to the general end of pregnancy discomforts and create an expectation that just causes further anxiety/pressure on you to go into labour!

I would recommend a bath, a good cry and some romantic time with your DH!

first1 · 29/04/2010 18:16

Sorry to hear that Jayfer, I'm sure your little man will be just fine.

Well had GP appt this morning. Came out crying to be honest. Baby is head down but really high and GP suspects I have a disproportionate pelvis (CPD), i.e. too small causing obstruction for baby's head to engage. Going to see the consultant tomorrow morning about it, will find out if an ELCS is the plan, which to be honest I now kinda want, because apparently VB with an obstruction can lead to cord prolapse. Do any of you know much about it? Think of me at 11.20am tomorrow. Also started a thread on this, I need all the info I can get

morethemerrier · 29/04/2010 18:33

Bloody hell, not a good day for May mummies today!

Another virtual hug flying your way x

Not had any experience, hope you get a positive plan of action though tommorow so you can get your head around it all.

Let us know how you get on x

pinkstuff · 02/05/2010 12:47

hi, all.
I had sweep on friday at 12pm, started getting period type mild cramps and niggles, so decided not to rest and do all i could to help labour start, so went to tesco, power walked for 2 miles with dog, ate fish, chips, coke and magnum lolly, walked again, had fresh pineapple. short rest followed by 2 tablespoons castor oil in apple tango (yum)
regular mild contactions started at 6pm, every 2 minutes, gradually got stronger, till having to breathe through them so left for hospital at 11.30pm. was assessed at
12.30pm as being 4 centimetres dilated, got straight on the lovely gas and air.
Tianna Mae was born very quickly at 1.40am.
7lb 3oz.
I was obviously shattered after all my activity during the day, but am convinced that all the walking after sweep helped.
ive now had 2 children born on their due date.

Jayfer · 02/05/2010 13:00

Congratulations Pinkstuff and welcome to the world Tianna Mae!

PanicMode · 02/05/2010 17:03

Congratulations pinkstuff - glad it was so quick and easy! (I have had one due date baby and the middle two were the day before and the day after their due dates - so this one was a surprise at almost 2 weeks early!!)

Wishing all of the still waiting May mummies all the best!!
