Hi all! Didn’t see an August thread yet so here we go.

I got my BFP today and my EDD is 2nd of August next year.

I’m 37 and this is my second baby, I have a son who’ll be 2 next month.

Welcome to all other August mums-to-be and please introduce yourselves! ♥️

Just bumping this in case anyone gets a BFP today and wants to join!

Hi! I’ve been keeping an eye out for an August thread! I’m also 37 and got my BFP on Weds and confirmed with a digital yesterday (still not sure I believe it!!). I’m due on 1st August and this would be my first baby, although I had an early mc at 5+2 a couple of years ago so I’m currently very nervous although hopeful!

How are you feeling at the moment? X

LolaJ87 · 23/11/2024 06:57

@DragonflyRuby congratulations! I really hope this pregnancy goes well for you.

I got a stark negative on Wednesday but felt a bit car sick yesterday which is unusual, and why I re-tested (also my period was due yesterday and hadn’t shown up). Similarly have low level nausea today but no other symptoms!

How about you? Any symptoms?

Are you planning on doing a private scan? We’ve booked one for the 23rd of December 😁

OP posts:
DragonflyRuby · 23/11/2024 07:07

Thank you, and to you! I have pretty constant low level nausea too at the moment which I’m surprised by because I didn’t think it’d start this early. Did you get it with your first? I’m finding it strangely reassuring though!

I haven’t decided yet. I booked one before and didn’t get to that point sadly so I feel a bit superstitious about it which is probably silly. I don’t think I’m going to notify the GP/midwife service or book anything until I get to 6 weeks just so I feel a bit more relaxed. This was only our second month of trying so I’m pretty shocked and I’m not sure it’s really sunk in yet! Have you told anyone in real life yet?

LolaJ87 · 23/11/2024 07:29

Yes I had all the symptoms early last time before I even tested! We were trying but not tracking ovulation or anything, and the period I thought I was having turned out to be an implantation bleed. I felt sick for a couple of days and had a cracking headache, but when my nipples got sore I took a test and it was positive! I was ill on and off for most of the first trimester but it peaked around the 6 week mark I think.

On the one hand I’m relieved not to feel so immediately ill again and on the other I’m wondering if I should be!

It’s so understandable you’d be cautious about it. Just do whatever feels right ♥️

I’ve told my best friend but we won’t be telling anyone else until after our 8 week scan, which we have booked for 2 days before Christmas. I want to tell family at Christmas and the miscarriage risk drops dramatically if you’ve seen a heartbeat at 8 weeks.

Have you told anyone in real life?

OP posts:
DragonflyRuby · 23/11/2024 08:39

I’m glad you said about the headache as I’ve had one for the last 2 days and it’s really bad this morning, I feel pretty grim but I thought huh surely not related! Maybe it is! I don’t normally get them so I thought it was weird.

Ah I did read that symptoms don’t really predict healthy full term pregnancy and 25% of women who give birth don't have any reported pregnancy symptoms so I’d try not to worry. I got a good book called It Starts With The Bump, have you read it? It’s been quite interesting.

I’ve told my parents and my best friend. As they knew we were trying and last time they were a good support when it did go wrong but don’t think I’ll tell anyone else for quite a while.

Lulubelle92 · 23/11/2024 08:53

Hi Everyone,

Got my first ever BFP this morning after 4 months of trying. Not posted on here before but needed to tell someone!

Due date is coming out as 4th August. Hubby and I are very excited.

@LolaJ87 great idea on the early scan, I’ve just booked for the 23rd too! Will definitely be good to check everything is ok before going into Christmas.

Looking forward to going on this journey with you all

Congratulations to everyone

DragonflyRuby · 23/11/2024 08:56

Congratulations @Lulubelle92 ❤️

Who did you guys book your scans with? I booked with Window to the Womb last time but might see who else is local to us.

OneGladTiger · 23/11/2024 09:08

Hi everyone, I’d like to join please ❤️ This will be my first and I’m due around 31st July
or beginning of August. I’m around 4w4d and have absolutely no symptoms whatsoever! Hoping to get a private scan around 8 weeks, it’s going to be a long wait. I’m excited but also get feelings of oh my god what have we signed up for so any support is much appreciated!

LolaJ87 · 23/11/2024 09:19

I’m currently cuddle trapped by my toddler which is a lovely feeling but means typing is slowwww 🙈

@DragonflyRuby yeah I really suffered with headaches last time! You can take paracetamol and using cold strips may provide some relief too 🤞 I told my close friends and family very early last time but I had a high risk pregnancy and it meant giving lots of updates all the time so just keeping it that bit quieter this time (and hoping for an easier run of it)! I haven’t read the book you recommended but I might give it a go 😁

@Lulubelle92 congratulations! How exciting 😁 love that we have our scans on the same day 😍 what a nice Christmas present to ourselves.

@OneGladTiger congratulations to you! It does all feel a bit surreal doesn’t it? 😁

It’s so nice to have people to share this stuff with x

Oh and @DragonflyRuby I’m in Ireland so am booked with a company here for my scan!

OP posts:
OneGladTiger · 23/11/2024 09:24

@DragonflyRuby is this your first too? This was our first month of trying so I’m pretty shell shocked 😂 I’d like to book a scan on the 23rd too and then have photos to show my family at Christmas 🤞🏻

@LolaJ87 @Lulubelle92 congrats to you as well! ✨

Congratulations @Lulubelle92 ❤️

Who did you guys book your scans with? I booked with Window to the Womb last time but might see who else is local to us.

Thanks a lot! Hope you are doing OK too? Saw you mention headaches, how are you feeling today? The only real ‘symptom’ I’ve had (if it’s related at all) is headaches, so interested to see that I’m not the only one!

We’ve booked with Meet your Miracle. My sister in law used them with my nephew (due Jan) and said good things.

Congratulations! It sounds as though we are in similar situations, this will be my first too and it’s all a bit of a shock this morning that it’s actually happening! So happy but no idea what to expect 🙈 probably going to take a few days to process it all.

Emelene · 23/11/2024 09:57

Hi ladies! I got a positive test yesterday, due date 1st August, or 28th July if you don’t count long cycles. So can I be on both boards? 😅
This will be baby number 3, I have a 6 year old and a 4 year old. I’m thrilled but a little daunted by practicalities. And currently full of cold which is rubbish!

OneGladTiger · 23/11/2024 10:13

@Lulubelle92 it’s so nice to talk to people going through the same especially when it’s all so unknown at this stage. I’m the same!

@Emelene me too, I have longish cycles so I think my due date is probably more early August. But you never know 😆 Daunted is the word that sums it up in my head! This will be my first so it’s reassuring to talk to ladies who’ve done it before.

Emelene · 23/11/2024 10:51

@OneGladTiger yes it’s lovely to have people to talk to about it! We won’t be telling people for a while but it’s on my mind a lot. 😁

DragonflyRuby · 23/11/2024 10:53

@LolaJ87 Ah yes I can see how the constant updating would wear a bit thin! Yes I might try a cold flannel on the head soon, it feels like that would help so maybe it’s a tension headache.

@Lulubelle92 I’m good thanks, feeling really happy and excited today although I do feel pretty ropey with a bit of nausea and I’ve had a headache for the last couple of days. It’s pretty bad today but I’m hoping it’ll ease. Sorry you’ve got them too!

@OneGladTiger Congratulations ❤️ Yep my first! That is a lovely idea and I’m sure it will be wonderful to see them just before Christmas. I think I still might do that but I’m just not going to book anything for a couple of weeks whilst I adjust to it all and hopefully the nerves ease off a bit!!

Congratulations @Emelene ❤️ How are you feeling? I have the tail end of a cold too, luckily it only lasted a few days at the beginning of the week so I hope yours eases off really soon!

LolaJ87 · 23/11/2024 14:08

Welcome @Emelene 😁 congratulations! When do you think you’ll tell your children?

OP posts:
Emelene · 23/11/2024 14:39

Hi @LolaJ87 I think we will wait until the 12 week scan. It will be more real for them if there are scan photos that are clearly a baby! Hopefully they’ll be excited. They have a little cousin who’s about to get a baby sister so there’s been lots of baby talk in the house! 😅 But part of me wants to get an earlier private scan and spill the news to kids and wider family at Christmas so we’ll see.

@DragonflyRuby hope you're feeling better. I’m not feeling 100% but been out and about with the kids and my lovely DH which helps. We’ve got new Christmas decorations at the local garden centre which is a nice little tradition we have from my own childhood.

Although I’m totally hormonal and was tearful seeing the “baby’s first Christmas” decorations and stockings! Anyone else? Hoping and praying for what Christmas will look like next year with a 4.5 month old!

LolaJ87 · 23/11/2024 17:16

My mam called in earlier with lovely chocolate cake she picked up at a Christmas market and while I’d normally smash it, I really struggled and said I’d had a really big lunch 🙈 she’s a retired midwife and I was scared she’d take one look at me and KNOW! Which is silly! We are just really close and it feels weird keeping this quiet.

The hormones are real. I got all emotional earlier thinking about how good a big brother my son will be 🥹

OP posts:
DragonflyRuby · 24/11/2024 06:27

Today is the day my periods actually due so I feel slightly anxious but I tested again this morning and got 1-2 weeks on a digital. It’s great that I got a positive so early in some ways (10dpo) but it’s meant the last few days have been long!

I spent most of yesterday in bed with what felt like a migraine, and I don’t normally get them so wonder if it’s hormonal.

How is everyone else doing?

LolaJ87 · 24/11/2024 08:50

Oh no! How are you feeling this morning @DragonflyRuby ? Yes, it would be hormonal. I was told last time that some people are very sensitive to all the extra progesterone. Really hope you’re feeling better today!

I was awake at 5am feeling a bit sick. My boobs have also gotten a bit swollen and tender. Finding it very comforting even if not enjoyable.

I’m still testing too. It’s a reassurance thing!

OP posts:
DragonflyRuby · 24/11/2024 09:14

@LolaJ87 I’m feeling much better today thanks. Still a bit fuzzy headed but not as awful as I was. Totally understand feeling reassured by symptoms even if they’re unpleasant! My boobs feel a little sensitive but nothing too bad, although funnily enough last month they were on fire and I convinced myself I was pregnant but no, so sometimes I think my body plays tricks on me!

I’ve got one last clearblue weeks test so I’m going to keep that and take it next weekend to hopefully see if it’s gone up. I’m going to try and avoid peeing on regular tests now as I know I’ll get obsessed with line progression!

I hope everyone has a lovely Sunday despite the awful weather! 🌧️

Tadpolecat · 24/11/2024 10:25

Joining! I had a VVF positive yesterday but I wasn't ready to join as I just didn't trust it. Today though, there's no denying my BFP. Excited to join you all! This will be my second baby - DS is 2, nearly 3. I'm 34. My due date will be 5th August going by last AF.
