Hi all! Didn’t see an August thread yet so here we go.

I got my BFP today and my EDD is 2nd of August next year.

I’m 37 and this is my second baby, I have a son who’ll be 2 next month.

Welcome to all other August mums-to-be and please introduce yourselves! ♥️

@MrsB902 😄 same with my work. Because of the nature of my job I have to let my LM know straight away and then all my colleagues slowly realise when they see that I'm exempt from certain tasks! Would be nice to be able to keep it a secret a little longer wouldn't it? Especially with the worry that it's so early.
I am feeling good so far. I had a really easy pregnancy with my son (apart from bleeding) so I'm hoping this one is the same. I have been feeling twinges on and off, so this sounds similar to the cramps you're experiencing.
I am slightly anxious at the thought of having two but we finally felt ready this year, with our son being at a more independent and understanding stage. Just need to tackle sleeping on his own🤦‍♀️
How is your son with sleeping? I coslept from the beginning so it's my own fault!

OneGladTiger · 26/11/2024 09:47

I’ve just bought some maternity jeans from Vinted, might be jumping the gun a bit but if nothing else they’ll come in handy over the Christmas period 😂

@Tadpolecat @MrsB902 I’m 34 on Christmas Day and my son will be 3 in July so I’m similar too :-)
sorry to hear you had a chemical @MrsB902 it really is shit.
I told my partner last night but he’s deliberately trying not to show any emotion at all because he doesn’t want to get his or my hopes up after 2 MCs this year.
The not drinking thing is a massive tell all for me - I enjoy a social drink so everyone will know, only so many ‘UTI’s’ you can have 😂.
I've got a Christmas lunch in London with my boss on Friday NO idea how I’m going to play that one and then I’m going to Germany all of next week with one of my clients couldn’t be worse timing! Any ideas for white lies?

How lovely, fingers crossed everything goes well for us all. So sorry to hear about your previous miscarriages, early pregnancy is always an anxious time anyway but can imagine even more so if you’ve had previous losses.

I was newly pregnant with my little boy when we were just coming out of Covid restrictions and we literally had about 6 rearranged weddings to go to, it was a nightmare. I found the easiest way to hide it was to slip away to the bar on my own and ask them to put lemonade in a gin glass with berries so it looked like I was drinking!

Edited

That’s a shame that it’ll be difficult for you to hide it at work too. I’m glad you’re feeling well so far, I’m the same but almost wish I had stronger symptoms just so I could feel reassured that everything is ok in there!

My first pregnancy was an absolute dream so feel like I might pay for that this time round but hopefully not 🤣

The thought of two is definitely a scary one but have always wanted a 3 year age gap as think it’ll be a nice one so fingers crossed for us! My little boy’s sleeping is hitty missy, he was great from around 8 weeks until the age of 1 then all hell broke loose! They’ve got another 8 months to sort themselves out though haven’t they so hopefully they’ll get the sleep memo before their siblings get here.

Boymum3722 · 26/11/2024 10:27

@MrsB902 yeah going to the bar is a good shout! I don’t think I’ll get away with that in the big German beer halls though I either have to fake illness or tell them 😬 how were the hospital restrictions when you had your son? I couldn’t have my partner stay in the hosp in July but they’ve lifted all restrictions now! Does your son go to nursery?
@Tadpolecat my son has been a horrendous sleeper his whole life, we co slept a lot too in the small hours but he is good in his cot now unless he’s poorly. Have you transitioned to a bed yet?
I’ve also not done potty training and he still has a dummy so Jan is going to be fun for all the changes!!
@OneGladTiger such a good idea on Vinted!

Congratulations @Lulu89x and welcome to the thread ♥️

Thank you! Congratulations to all of the other ladies on here who are expecting ❤

Lulu89x · 26/11/2024 14:08

DragonflyRuby · 25/11/2024 19:18

Congratulations @Lulu89x how are you feeling?

Sorry you felt so ill @LolaJ87 are you feeling better now? I had a migraine on Saturday and a few of us have mentioned headaches so it seems like a common early symptom. Sorry you’ve had the anxiety of spotting to deal with too, sounds like you’re doing well keeping calm though. I listened to a podcast today that said 80% of pregnancies will have spotting at some point - I had no idea it was so common!

I’m definitely considering an NIPT as I’m also 37! Did your NHS test come back low risk and then you chose to go private?

@OneGladTiger sorry you’re struggling, I’m with you on the anxiety train. Wish I could relax and just enjoy it. I also find journaling really helpful. How are you feeling now?

Is anyone else having period like pains? Not full on cramps but like little shocks almost? I know that cramps are really normal this early but it still makes me feel worried! I’m 4 + 3 today 😁

I am exhausted! The insane cramping I had last week has subsided now.. but the worry has kicked in! I'm tempted to book myself in for an early scan.. My first midwife appointment is on NYE which I think is crazy! I will be 9 weeks by then. How about you?

Kadykats · 26/11/2024 14:24

Hello! I’m now 4+2 so my due date is August 3rd. This is my third baby and there will be a 10 year gap between my DS and the newest addition!

I’m also considering booking a private early scan for before Christmas.

Congratulations all :)

LolaJ87 · 26/11/2024 21:12

I’m so worried about my work Christmas party because I organise it every year and I’m not known for shying away from the cocktails at it! I don’t want to tell my boss and/or colleagues before my family. I’m considering faking a dentist appointment on the Wednesday and then saying I’ve been prescribed Flagyl, which is a dental antibiotic you can’t drink on. I’ve actually been on it earlier this year and complained about having a root canal etc. so it may be believable 🙈

I was so ill with my son that I told everyone including my work very early on. I just want to do things a bit differently this time but lying doesn’t come easily to me.

@Kadykats welcome to the thread! Do you think your children will be excited? They’re old enough to be helpful too!

OP posts:
OneGladTiger · 26/11/2024 21:34

@LolaJ87 Dentist appointment sounds like a good idea, it’s definitely a bit of a tricky time of year for early pregnancy! My parents always do smoked salmon for Christmas and I’m not sure how I’m going to get out of that one. I’ve just booked our first scan on the 22nd December, eeek 🙈 I forgot I was pregnant multiple times today because I just feel so normal! Apart from really sore boobs.

Congrats @Kadykats ☺️

Workingmammabear · 26/11/2024 22:07

Hi everyone, it's so lovely to read all of your stories. I got a positive test on Friday :) I spent Thursday evening at a spa with my best friend. She convinced me to get a test despite not knowing we're trying for a baby... She just has a sixth sense apparently. I also had a pre booked ultra sound on the same day, they were looking for ovarian cysts after some bad pains a few months ago, and the Dr suggested I "urgently" take a test! She showed me a teeny black dot on the scan which she said made her suspicious!

Mum was with me so she knows, as does my best friend who text me Friday evening to find out if I'd take the test.

I'm trying not to get excited as it's early days and feels too good to be true! I'm 40 and feel quite anxious especially as symptoms are already so different compared to last time (TMI but I've had nausea and diarrhea, last time I was just starving hungry,). EDD is around 29 July. My little girl was 2 last week.

Congratulations everyone!!!

Harriet1989 · 27/11/2024 02:55

Hey all! 👋 I got a vvvfl Monday, stronger yesterday and EDD is 8th August. This would be my second (first is now 6!) and we've been TTC since Jan. I had an early miscarriage in June though so told myself I would try not to get ahead of myself this time but I'm so desperate for this to stick so loved hearing all your suggestions for managing anxiety!

I woke up in the night with cramping on Saturday so that may have been implantation, got a bit of cramping last night too which has made me super worried after the MC so trying to remind myself that's normal!

TheCoralFish · 27/11/2024 09:28

Hello all, congrats to all you newly pregnant folks! I’m just joining this thread if that’s ok (I’m brand new to MN today so not too sure how it all works! ) I just tested yesterday and got a couple positives and a clear blue date test that’s come up 2-3 weeks. Based on my last MP I think that puts my EDD at August 1st. I’m 32 (33 on Saturday) and this is my first pregnancy. I’m feeling pretty shocked, and don’t think it’s sunk in as my partner and I had talked about starting to try before the end of the year. Tbh though we barely had sex this month and I think only once in my fertile period according to period tracker app as I was unwell with a horrible cough / cold for a big chunk of the month 😵‍💫 I don’t really have much of a village, and don’t know many people with babies so feeling like a space like this might be good to hear from people in the same situation. I’m also super aware of things like MC statistics so feeling a bit nervous to get my hopes up / get too attached since it’s such early days!

LolaJ87 · 27/11/2024 09:37

@OneGladTiger Oh I LOVE smoked salmon! And brie. Definitely going to have to tell family 😂

I had gestational diabetes during my last pregnancy and the policy here is that they don't even test you for your next pregnancy, you have to start checking sugars etc. after your booking visit. Going to really enjoy all the chocolate at Xmas before that kicks in!

@Workingmammabear huge congrats and welcome to the thread! We will have similar age gaps - my little boy is 2 next week.

@Harriet1989 congratulations and welcome! That was nice and early to get a positive - hopefully a very good sign ❤

@TheCoralFish welcome and congrats! Sorry you don't have much of a village IRL but we will build one here for sure. Have you got many symptoms at the moment?

OneGladTiger · 27/11/2024 09:58

Lots of us here now! 👋🏻 I think August 2025 might be a busy month for babies!

@TheCoralFish We’re in a similar boat, I’m 30 but I’ll be 31 in July, my partner and I thought we would half-heartedly try this month but ‘properly’ try in the new year and now we’re here 😂 We are very excited but also like you very aware of how early it all is. The bloat is starting to hit me, I think I am 5 weeks today.

LolaJ87 · 27/11/2024 10:03

It's definitely shaping up to be a busy month! Think the latest due date we have so far is the 8th? So lots more to come too.

I'm feeling really excited today... despite being up half the night with my little boy!

Hey guys!! I'm Phee, I am 21 and this is my first baby but second pregnancy. I am 4 weeks and 2 or 3 days depending which app you ask 😂 I got my BFP literally 3 days ago. I was quite nauseas on Saturday and was eventually sick and then two days later my symptoms didn't match with a stomach bug so I randomly tested and it came up straight away! I have brown spotting (which is apparently normal even though I'm panicking about it), very sore breasts, nausea and chapped lips which is apparently a pregnancy symptom 😂 I'm due according to my app on the 4th August 🤞🏻I think that's everything 🫶🏻

TheCoralFish · 27/11/2024 10:41

Hey @LolaJ87 thanks for your kind welcome! I’m really not sure about symptoms since this is my first pregnancy so feel like I’m thinking very little thing could be one 😅 I’ve had sore boobs for weeks which is odd for me as I usually just have them for a couple days before period so was wondering if that was a symptom pre-testing. The day before I took a test my partner burned toast and the smell was making me gag which is very odd! I’ve also been feeling freezing the last week but I don’t know if that’s a possible symptom or just the fact that it’s November and I live in Scotland. How about you ? Must be harder being pregnant with another wee one to take care of!

@OneGladTiger oh hi! Yes I guess it’s a really a case of FAFO for us😅I’m definitely happy but really surprised so now I’m just recalibrating a bit as had really convinced myself I wouldn’t be pregnant this year

Lilypad121 · 27/11/2024 11:17

Can I jump on?

Got a BFP yesterday and still in shock and very aware of how early I am. Looks like my due date would be around 6th August. We have 2 year old DS who was conceived after years of infertility due to endometriosis. We've been trying for over a year for number 2 and I had an ectopic rupture in August which was horrendous and I lost a tube. I was 5 weeks for the rupture and in a lot of pain at this stage whereas I have no pain right now so hoping this bean is in the right place! I still have a higher chance of ectopic so will contact EPAU and they've said they'll organise an early scan in the next 2 weeks.

Really hoping this sticks and that it all goes well! Congratulations to all of you and fingers crossed we'll all be here until August 😊

LolaJ87 · 27/11/2024 11:47

@TTCBabyHoward glad you found us and welcome! Hope the sickness eases a bit but it is reassuring as well isn't it?

@TheCoralFish loads of symptoms here but I'm not quite as sick as I was last time! Headaches, waves of nausea and extreme hunger and sore boobs - all the fun ones 😅I've also been feeling colder but similarly live in Ireland during a cold snap so I don't know if it counts! Doesn't your base temperature jump up a bit when you're pregnant or something, maybe that's why.

@Lilypad121 welcome! Your username seems familiar, were you on the November TTC thread? Huge congrats and here's hoping everything is in the right place and you have smooth sailing the rest of the way, that's quite the journey you've had ❤

TTCBabyHoward · 27/11/2024 11:48

@LolaJ87 Oh it definitely is - I couldn't be more grateful for all the symptoms no matter how uncomfortable they are 🥰

Sorry to hear about your previous experience

I also have Endo, this is my first pregnancy and I'm 5 weeks. I rang the GP who basically had nothing to say about having endo and pregnancy and I have no friends that have endo to discuss it with so it does just feel like a waiting game!

DragonflyRuby · 27/11/2024 15:39

Hello to all the new joiners and congratulations! I’m feeling a bit calmer today - I’ve been SO anxious the last few days it’s been awful. I actually did a few more pink dye tests to check progression as I switched to a digital after my first couple of faint lines. Whilst it was nice to see it in words, I was a bit worried I hadn’t seen a nice dark line but feel better now I have!

@Lilypad121 @Parks17 I have endo too although touch wood I’ve been very lucky after lots of ops and don’t currently have symptoms. I hope pg goes really smoothly for us all, endo is such a struggle both physically and emotionally.

I don’t really have many symptoms at the mo which I’m not sure if I should be worried about? For the first week I had quite a few stitch/cramp pains but they never lasted long. I was worried when I got them but they’ve really calmed today. I do have occasional low level nausea but nothing major.

Has anyone had a date for their booking appointment yet?

TTCBabyHoward · 27/11/2024 15:40

@DragonflyRuby - I have! I have a booking appointment in three weeks time on the 19th December xx

DragonflyRuby · 27/11/2024 15:59

@TTCBabyHoward Exciting! I was going to wait until I got to 6 weeks to refer but thought I might as well do it today!
