Hi all! Didn’t see an August thread yet so here we go.

I got my BFP today and my EDD is 2nd of August next year.

I’m 37 and this is my second baby, I have a son who’ll be 2 next month.

Welcome to all other August mums-to-be and please introduce yourselves! ♥️

@SureLook Thanks that’s reassuring that you had it before and all was well. I get it when I cough or sneeze without bracing! 😂

Yes also really excited to find out the sex. I feel like that’ll help it all feel a bit more real.

Yeah, I tended to hold my bump and kind of lift and support it when it happened. That helped a bit.

Yeah, it definitely helps it feel more real! I'm so excited!

I hope everyone is doing ok? I’m 12+1 today but have to wait until next Friday 13w for my scan. I feel like time is standing still! I had my private NIPT test done Friday so also impatiently waiting for the results of that. Anyone else had one or planning to?

My sickness and nausea has calmed right down thankfully. The last couple of weeks it’s only been bad in the afternoons/evenings so thank god I don’t wake up feeling like I can’t move! Did just randomly puke this evening when I suddenly got heartburn but it’s definitely improving.

My new weird symptom is that when I sneeze I feel like I pull all the muscles around my pubic bone! Sneezed at work and instantly doubled over, that was fun to explain!! I assume it’s ligaments?

What does an NIPT involve? Is it just a blood test? I didn’t have one with my other two but really aware of possible abnormalities if it’s not picked up until the anomaly scan this time. Especially as my two are of an understanding age this time so would rather not get their hopes up if there were risks etc. We haven’t told them yet because we’re waiting for the 12 week scan.

I have my 12 week scan tomorrow and feel so anxious - much more so than with my first pregnancy for some reason!

Also just wondering if pregnancy IBS is a thing?! If I eat anything that’s slightly naughty I get the worst stomach pains and then I’m up and down several times overnight to the toilet! Has anyone else experienced this? I’ve never had any intolerances or anything prior to this.

In Ireland it involves a scan by a foetal medicine specialist and taking blood. The blood is sent to America (or the UK depending on which test you go for) and you get the results by post within 14 days. You can opt in or out to finding the gender. I didn't have it done on my first but I'm doing it for my second cause I'm too impatient to wait to find out the gender!

Best of luck with the scan, let us know how it goes.

I have IBS anyway but I would put that down to hormones. I find around my period my belly is more sensitive to alcohol, fatty food etc so I'd imagine it's similar during pregnancy. Apart from the alcohol of course!

This is me! I seem to be really sensitive to dairy since being pregnant and it’s giving me a bit of an upset tummy, not to the point of full on diarrhoea but definitely looser and more often than normal. I assumed it was just down to hormones. Hopefully it settles soon though, whatever it is!

I hope everyone is getting on well. Went to our private 10 week scan today and so pleased that all looked good, little bean was waving their hands and kicking their legs! I can't believe the difference in 3 weeks since the 7 week scan, they look like an actual baby now! I'm 10+1 and measuring 10+5 😊

So pleased with the scan as I was a bit worried since my symptoms had got milder overall.

SureLook · 20/01/2025 18:03

That's brilliant @strawberrylaces12 , delighted for you!

MrsB902 · 20/01/2025 20:18

Had my 12 week scan this afternoon and all was well (apart from baby being an absolute tinker and refusing to comply with the sonographer’s requests!) They had me in all sorts of different positions but eventually managed to do their checks and get some decent photos!

Hi everyone,

Congrats to all the August mamas! Hope I'm not too late to join this or the WA? I'm 10 + 3 with my first and it's been a bit of journey so far with lots of pain, nausea and anxiety but doing my best to stay positive :)

Just looking into NIPT. Does anyone know if there's a big different between the different providers e.g panorama, Ninalia etc

Have a great week xx

JuneySunshine · 20/01/2025 20:27

@MrsB902 Congratulations! Glad it went well for you. I have mine Wednesday and I'm absolutely dying to see them, having not been for a scan yet, it's such a long wait.

I had my booking appointment on the 2nd Jan and my blood results have still not been uploaded to Badger Notes - is this normal? Would they have contacted me if anything needed checking further? I’m only worrying as had some bloods done for my thyroid today but they also did a full blood count. My MCH was on the borderline of normal/high, doctor google (I know…) has said that could be a vitamin b/folate deficiency.

I got a few abnormals back too which was really worrying. The midwife didn't call but when I follow up with this GP they said it was all normal for pregnancy 😮‍💨

There are some differences - including what they can test for but not much in it overall. I went with one of the UK ones as the results come back quicker - I also wanted one with a scan too so used ultrasound direct, I got the results back yesterday!

I'm out. Baby measuring 12 days behind at early scan just didn't match up with my dates (I ovulate quite early and know when I tested positive). 4 weeks later I have miscarried. I had a lot of bleeding with my son so tried to remain positive but with the slow growth aswell, I just sort of knew it was inevitable.

Wishing the rest of the August group happy and healthy pregnancies!💕

Unfortunately, as of this evening, I'm also out. I went for my NIPT test this evening. I'm 9+5 but baby was measuring at 7 weeks and no heartbeat. Back to the EPAU tomorrow to officially confirm miscarriage. Shocked and upset as I've had no symptoms and still feel pregnant.

Beat of luck to everyone on this thread. I wish you all happy and healthy pregnancies x
