Congratulations @Tadpolecat and welcome! When is/was your period due? I had faint lines because I tested early and wasn’t sure whether to trust them but the digital tests have put my mind at rest!

Tadpolecat · 24/11/2024 12:06

Thank you @DragonflyRuby 🙂
My period will be due this week. My cycles have been 26-29 days since coming off contraception. I have to let my workplace know straight away as I work with chemicals, some that potentially affect fertility/foetus (so i will be exempt from those ones), so I want to say very soon, but i want to wait until I have officially missed it! It's annoying that my colleagues know before our families (and it's sad when we've witnessed losses before from colleagues!) but obviously safety comes first.
I've only used cheapies so would also like a digital to double check!

OneGladTiger · 24/11/2024 17:10

Congrats @Tadpolecat! My period is 5 days late now and I’ve tested positive on cheapies and a clear blue rapid response, I have one weeks digital that I’m saving for next weekend to see if it says 2-3 🙈 It all feels so early on I keep thinking every twinge is my period coming! But very excited too 😊

DragonflyRuby · 24/11/2024 20:13

@Tadpolecat Oh wow yes that must be difficult telling work so soon but obviously very important. I’m the opposite and wondering how long I can stretch it to without telling them!

@OneGladTiger I feel the same, pretty nervous that my period is going to arrive. I’ve had achey sort of cramps on and off constantly but not really particularly painful and I feel a constant low level of nausea so it is a bit different to period pain. But still anxious.

I was actually convinced I was coming on my period a week ago as I awoke with such similar pains and heavy feeling. Now I think it was implantation as I got a faint positive 2 days later.

Anyone who’s done this before got any suggestions on getting through the next anxious few weeks?

Tadpolecat · 24/11/2024 20:47

@DragonflyRuby it's funny but I don't really remember this time with my son, apart from having bleeding. I bled twice quite badly, once I think at 6 weeks, then again around 10 weeks. So I feel more prepared this time, not to panic if I have any signs of bleeding, as DS was always fine! Our bodies like to mess with us.😒

Emelene · 24/11/2024 23:41

I told my Mum today and she was over the moon! I’m so relieved as I was worried she’d be unsupportive. We won’t tell more widely for a while, except a close friend who is pregnant with her third - I’m hoping to catch up in the next few weeks.

For anxiety I think it’s helpful to focus on what you can control. So taking prenatal vitamins, healthy diet as much as possible and trying to enjoy the day you’re in/ stay present and mindful. I’m not an expert but did struggle with anxiety after both of mine were born (FTM and then second born in lockdown). I’m really keen to manage it as well as I can this time. Later on I really found hypnobirthing helpful but as it’s focused on birth I’ll start it much later. The Headspace app also has a pregnancy module which I’m going to try. 😊 I would love to hear anyone else’s suggestions to manage anxiety at this time?

DragonflyRuby · 25/11/2024 06:45

@Tadpolecat That’s really reassuring to hear thank you.

@Emelene That’s great that your mum was so happy! I told my parents this weekend too and they were really happy too which is nice. I agree about managing anxiety, it’s really important and I’m going to work really hard on it. I wrote a list of positive things last night and also challenging some of the negative thoughts. Like I’ve had a bit of cramping which feels worrying but I know it’s totally normal and when I mc last time I didn’t even have cramps and that helped, just remembering that because you think something it doesn’t make it true!

I’ve also done a little chart to tick off days just so I feel like I’m making progress. I want to get past the time when I mc’d before and then to booking in appt, early scan etc. just going to break it down and focus on those milestones for now.

LolaJ87 · 25/11/2024 09:23

Sorry I completely fell off the thread yesterday, I was SO sick. I had a headache, which became a migraine. I could smell my husbands dinner from our bedroom upstairs and was heaving. Not ideal!

I was also spotting a bit yesterday evening. While this wasn’t welcome, I had the same with my son around 4 weeks, then 6 weeks, then 9 weeks. So not letting it get in my head too much, it was only when I wiped and it was pinky red.

Hope everyone else is feeling ok this morning 🙈

As for managing anxiety, I’m all ears
for advice. I had a high risk pregnancy last time and was a wreck for the early stages of it.

Is anyone considering a NIPT test?

OP posts:
OneGladTiger · 25/11/2024 09:57

Morning everyone! The hormones have really kicked in for me today, I’m feeling SO anxious, overwhelmed and on the verge of tears about everything. I know writing helps me, I haven’t been journaling the past few days and now all these doubts have crept up so it’s back to the journal for me. I know yoga helps me too so I’m going to try and do some on YouTube today, I just never seem to find the time.

Do you know for what criteria they would recommend a NIPT?

@Emelene headspace is a good tip, I get that free with work, I’ll check it out today 😊 Jealous of people that have told their mums, I would quite like to tell mine but I’m not sure how she’ll react and it still feels too early!

LolaJ87 · 25/11/2024 11:07

@OneGladTiger yoga and journaling sound like really good ways to channel things!

I think you have to pay privately for a NIPT unless there is a clinical indication after your first scan. I had one last time though it was inconclusive and that led to extra tests! But I’ll be having one again because of my age (37).

Depending on the website I use, my estimated due date is between the 2nd - 4th August 2025!

I'm 35, first time being pregnant/first baby! 😊

Congratulations @Lulu89x and welcome to the thread ♥️

DragonflyRuby · 25/11/2024 19:18

Congratulations @Lulu89x how are you feeling?

Sorry you felt so ill @LolaJ87 are you feeling better now? I had a migraine on Saturday and a few of us have mentioned headaches so it seems like a common early symptom. Sorry you’ve had the anxiety of spotting to deal with too, sounds like you’re doing well keeping calm though. I listened to a podcast today that said 80% of pregnancies will have spotting at some point - I had no idea it was so common!

I’m definitely considering an NIPT as I’m also 37! Did your NHS test come back low risk and then you chose to go private?

@OneGladTiger sorry you’re struggling, I’m with you on the anxiety train. Wish I could relax and just enjoy it. I also find journaling really helpful. How are you feeling now?

Is anyone else having period like pains? Not full on cramps but like little shocks almost? I know that cramps are really normal this early but it still makes me feel worried! I’m 4 + 3 today 😁

Parks17 · 25/11/2024 19:46

Hi everyone!

I think I'm 4 weeks + 5

Due date showing end of July early August

Im struggling with the anxiety of only having (multiple lol) positive tests to prove I'm having a baby! Haven't heard back about a booking appontment yet, although I did only register online 5 days ago.

Symptoms so far are extremely sore boobs, strong sense of smell and I'm so so tired.

I've booked an appointment with the GP on Wednesday (telephone) as I have endometriosis and online that shows as possibly high risk so I just want to get as much advise as I can!!

Does anyone else have endo, or is anyone else feeling this huge anxiety over what's actually going on?!

LolaJ87 · 25/11/2024 19:51

@DragonflyRuby I’ve felt a lot better today thanks! Still a mild headache this morning and mild nausea at times but nothing like yesterday thankfully 😅 I’ve had a few cramps as well, but what would describe there might be round ligament pain? I can’t remember how early that can occur!

I’m in Ireland so it’s a slightly different system here but I booked NIPT privately before I’d even had my booking visit.

@Parks17 welcome to the thread. I don’t have endometriosis but was high risk in my last pregnancy and have a gorgeous 2 year old to show for it. Every day felt so long and slow with the anxiety, up until I was well into the second trimester! There’s been some great tips on managing anxiety from some others here, hopefully that’ll help you too.

OP posts:
OneGladTiger · 25/11/2024 20:48

@Parks17 hello! I’m 4w5d too 😊 I’ve been on the anxiety train today, even though I’m testing with strips every morning and they’re getting darker they still are faintish and my only symptom is sore boobs and a bit gassy 😂

I keep reminding myself that worrying isn’t going to change the outcome, there’s nothing we can do either way apart from take our vitamins etc. I don’t have endo so can’t comment on that but definitely contact your gp for advice and I think they ask a lot of questions at the booking appointment too. I haven’t self-referred yet, was thinking of waiting until 6 weeks.

@DragonflyRuby I have some lower back pain in the evenings and occasional stabby pains, not too many yet though!

DragonflyRuby · 25/11/2024 20:48

Hi @Parks17 congratulations! I have endometriosis but I’ve had lots of operations for it (7!) and thankfully haven’t had any symptoms for over 5 years. I was really worried it would impact TTC but it hasn’t. I hope your call with the GP goes well hopefully they’ll be able to give some reassurance, I didn’t realise they class endo as high risk but it might be different in different trusts as I’m sure I saw something that said it wasn’t necessarily classified as High. I’ll see if I can find it!

Tadpolecat · 25/11/2024 21:11

Anyone else finding that their skin is more spotty at the minute? I don't usually get them but I have a few!

Parks17 · 25/11/2024 22:13

@LolaJ87 thank you so much - that's made me feel better to hear ❤️

@OneGladTiger yay I'd be interested to see how we're both measuring when it comes to a scan!
Yeah you are right, I will see what the GP says on Wednesday and then take it from there. Hoping to get an early scan booked just before Christmas

@DragonflyRuby so glad to hear you have not had symptoms for a while! I read earlier about the high risk thing so gonna ask about it with the GP on Wednesday so I'll let you know how that goes.
I think I might just feel a bit better knowing that the GPs are aware I'm pregnant - at the moment especially with online self referral I feel a bit like this isn't real/in the dark about things!

Boymum3722 · 25/11/2024 22:35

Hi everyone!
Congrats to all the positive tests :-)
Tentatively joining after a vvfl this morning and a stronger result this afternoon! Due date 7/8th Aug.
I have a 2 year old son, but, since then have had 2 miscarriages in the space of 3 months (trying since Feb 24). I’ve had many blood tests and ultrasounds and nothing seems to be causing the MCs so just a case of trying again. I do have progesterone pessaries to use twice a day, hopefully it’ll help.
Would be lovely to keep up with everyone’s journeys!

Congratulations @Boymum3722, and welcome!

MrsB902 · 26/11/2024 06:15

Tentatively joining as got my BFP on Thursday and my estimated due date is 3rd August. This will be my second baby (my little boy will be 3 in Feb) and I’m 34. Congratulations to everyone else ❤️

I haven’t really had many strong symptoms this time other than sore boobs and the odd headache but don’t think my symptoms really kicked in until around 6 weeks last time. I’ve been getting little cramps but trying to reassure myself that it’s just everything getting ready for baby to set up camp! I had a chemical last time around so trying not to worry too much but it’s so hard isn’t it?

We have also booked an early scan for the week of Christmas so we can tell our families then, I’ll be 7 weeks 1 day so hoping this won’t be too early to see a good heartbeat.

Tadpolecat · 26/11/2024 07:07

@MrsB902 congratulations, and welcome! We are very similar - I'm 34 too. My son is 3 at the end of Jan, so our age gaps are the same too!

Just did a digital and got my 1-2 weeks. All feels a bit more real seeing that. We are also probably going to go for an early scan (thinking christmas Eve!) as I'll be with my family, and the non-drinking will be such a giveaway (they know of our plans for a second!). And it's just nice to announce at Christmas!

I did read your post and thought I could have written this myself! It’s lovely to get to chat to someone who is at a very similar stage.

It’s so hard with the not drinking being a give away at this time of year isn’t it? Literally the hardest time of year to hide it because you end up with so many plans! I play for a sports team as a hobby and know that the second I stop playing they will all know too so have a feeling this pregnancy won’t stay secret as long as I would maybe like it to!

How have you been feeling?

Boymum3722 · 26/11/2024 09:26

@Tadpolecat @MrsB902 I’m 34 on Christmas Day and my son will be 3 in July so I’m similar too :-)
sorry to hear you had a chemical @MrsB902 it really is shit.
I told my partner last night but he’s deliberately trying not to show any emotion at all because he doesn’t want to get his or my hopes up after 2 MCs this year.
The not drinking thing is a massive tell all for me - I enjoy a social drink so everyone will know, only so many ‘UTI’s’ you can have 😂.
I've got a Christmas lunch in London with my boss on Friday NO idea how I’m going to play that one and then I’m going to Germany all of next week with one of my clients couldn’t be worse timing! Any ideas for white lies?
