Hi all! Didn’t see an August thread yet so here we go.

I got my BFP today and my EDD is 2nd of August next year.

I’m 37 and this is my second baby, I have a son who’ll be 2 next month.

Welcome to all other August mums-to-be and please introduce yourselves! ♥️

There are a few of us spotting @Moosey898 and it can be very common and normal - I really really hope yours is nothing to worry about ♥️

Thanks @LolaJ87 - just feel like I'm never one of the lucky ones, I know it's a defeatist view but I've never known anything from pregnancy but loss so it's hard to imagine it might stick.... Thought I was doing ok mentally too, ugh.

katcha87 · 28/11/2024 22:32

Hi all!

I am tentatively joining in if you'll have me! I say tentatively as I still can't quite believe it. I am about 5w4 and this is a very very long awaited (hopeful) sibling for my 8 year old son!
I am 37 so geriatric in the pregnancy scheme of things. I'm in Ireland too so a slightly different procedure to you all.
Went to the doctor this morning to start the process, blood pressure is quite high so back Monday to get a 24hr monitor.
We booked a private reassurance scan in two weeks time as my nerves won't last until I get my hospital appointment, which will most likely be after Christmas!
Delighted to have a group to chat with until I can tell everyone IRL at 12 weeks!

LolaJ87 · 29/11/2024 09:19

@Moosey898 I'm thinking of you this morning. You've been through so much, it's not surprising you'd struggle with this. Hope the spotting has stopped. You mentioned you were under the recurring miscarriage clinic, do they have you on progesterone or anything to help support this pregnancy?

LolaJ87 · 29/11/2024 09:23

@katcha87 I'm in Ireland too and we are the same age! Congrats and welcome to the thread. What hospital are you going with? I'll be attending the Rotunda. So exciting you've a scan so soon!

Moosey898 · 29/11/2024 09:32

@LolaJ87 thank you - still on and off this morning. I'm working at an event the next 3 days so hoping it'll take my mind off it a bit at least. Yeah, so I have to have a scan with them before they give progesterone, which they do at 7 weeks. My miscarriages have all been missed miscarriages (8,10 and 11 weeks) with the last one being sent for testing and came back as a chromosome abnormality, and all my scans etc of my lining have been good, but I'll definitely be taking the progesterone if I get to the 7 week scan! Can't hurt.

LolaJ87 · 29/11/2024 09:34

@Moosey898 I am sending all the positive wishes your way.

@LolaJ87 @katcha87 I'm in Ireland too, I'll be going to the Coombe! Am booked in with my GP next week, hoping I can get an early scan after my ectopic last time. I'm not even 5 weeks yet but I was already in agony at this point with my ectopic whereas I have no pain at all now, aside from the odd niggle so I have everything crossed it won't happen again🤞

LolaJ87 · 29/11/2024 09:55

So exciting @Lilypad121! Will the hospital do an early scan because of your history or do you still have to book that privately?

Hey, I'd like to join this thread and hopefully stay the duration.
I've tested positive this week. My due date is 12 August.

DragonflyRuby · 29/11/2024 19:12

Congratulations to anyone just joining!

Sending love and thoughts to anyone who’s struggling/anxious at the moment. It is so hard. 🩷

I caved and booked an early scan today. I was going to wait another week but the dates were pretty booked up. It’s on 18th Dec and I’ll be 7 + 5 so hopefully that’ll be far enough along to see a heartbeat and that everything is in the right place. I feel excited that I’ve got that to count down too.

Those of you that have had morning sickness before, can you describe it? That probably sounds ridiculous but is it just really sudden nausea or do you feel ill as well? I’ve felt quite nauseous with a migraine a couple of times and I feel a bit sick with a bit of a tummy ache most days at the moment but I’m not sure if it’s pregnancy related. It’s not a sharp stomach ache but it’s hard to explain!

katcha87 · 29/11/2024 19:19

Thank you @LolaJ87 and @Lilypad121. I am a country bumpkin so it will be Wexford hospital! Lovely to have some fellow Irish ladies on here!
Hopefully you can get a scan prior to Christmas @Lilypad121 to put your mind at ease, it's the very reason I booked to get one done privately. I am a bit of an anxious mess! Which certainly isn't helping the sky high bloody pressure I'm sure!
Anyone got any tips of heartburn? .... other than cold milk!?

lutam14 · 29/11/2024 20:10

Hi guys, I'm so happy to see an August due date group! This will be my second, my first is 3 :-)

I first tested positive on Monday, have had a lot of anxiety this week as I had a chemical pregnancy earlier this year however things seem to be progressing well - both in test lines and symptoms!

Iv been feeling a bit queasy all for the last couple days and have been getting terrible heart burn - I suffered really bad with this in my first pregnancy but it wasn’t until much later on that it kicked in!

Really looking forward to chatting to you all and going through this craziness together :-)

❤️

MayDay91 · 29/11/2024 20:28

I tested positive on Tuesday, been waiting a year for this (TTC#1). Praying now for stickiness, and trying to stop testing to check progress and just let it be. Feeling quite nauseous in the mornings but it's manageable. My due date is calculated for August 9th but due to health reasons I may need to have the baby out at 37-39 weeks so this may change, possibly could become a July baby? Anyway, so happy to be here, even if it is the first Friday in a long time without a wine in my hand! :)

OneGladTiger · 29/11/2024 21:12

Nice to see all the new people, congratulations everyone, we have each other for support which is lovely 💖 I haven’t told a soul apart from my partner so still feeling quite surreal each day.

Harriet1989 · 30/11/2024 03:49

@katcha87 @lutam14 I had awful heartburn my first pregnancy so I completely feel you!

(Check all of this with the pharmacy as I don't know if guidance has changed!) I took rennies which worked pretty well first trimester, and then gaviscon (a bottle by the bed to swig in the night and the little tubes in my bag for when I was out 😂) but it got worse in my final trimester so I was prescribed omeprazole which worked amazingly but I'd avoid again as long as possible.

Other than that I found eating little and often rather than big meals.. plenty of water really helped.. peppermint tea sometimes seemed to help.. avoiding fried, spicy or fatty foods.

Hope something in there helps! I'd never had it before and suddenly felt so sorry for those who suffer day to day!

katcha87 · 30/11/2024 09:03

Thanks @Harriet1989 my doctor suggested I try stick with natural remedies until 20 weeks.
I had the same with my son 8 years ago, I remember brining bottles of Gaviscon everywhereBlush
I'll try sticking to ice milk for now!
How are you feeling?

DragonflyRuby · 30/11/2024 15:39

How is everyone today? I got 2 - 3 weeks on a Clearblue digi which was exciting as I’ve never got one before! I’m 5+1 so I think that’s about right. Not sure if I’m going to buy another one to see if I get the 3+. Is anyone else still testing?

My boobs which have felt really sore feel a lot less so today which I’m finding a bit worrying but I know symptoms can come and go so trying to relax!

I got my 2-3 a few days ago and told myself I was stopping testing but I have just ordered another digital to see if I get 3+

I know I shouldn't have bothered but I can't help myself lol

I am also the same with the sore boobs - sometimes in the day they feel fine and then sometimes I stand up and it feels like someone's punched me!

redvelvet7 · 30/11/2024 19:29

Hi everyone, I am pregnant with my first baby, due 8th August. I've taken quite a few pregnancy tests over the last few days - all positive although the line isn't getting darker just yet. Not really feeling much different, had one day I was really tired a few days ago but now the only symptom I'm having is cramps. Filled in an online form to get a midwife appointment and found out it could take up until I'm at week 9 to be contacted which feels late? Booked an early private scan for when I'll be 7 weeks on 21st Dec. It doesn't feel real to me yet, maybe if I was experiencing more symptoms it would!

Workingmammabear · 30/11/2024 19:38

Hey @katcha87 I took gaviscon and omepraziole towards the end of my last pregnancy. Early on I bought a pack from a company called Maud and Myrtle which had tea, some mints, some acupressure bands, ginger sweets and an inhaler. I remember using those bits a lot last time and I've just ordered again as I feel super nauseous and full of heartburn again. Not helped as DH asked me to pick him up a KFC on my way home this evening.... Had to drive with the windows fully open and my scarf over my mouth, the smell was turning my stomach!

katcha87 · 01/12/2024 07:33

Thank you @Workingmammabear I'll have a look at that company! I'm not experiencing much nausea (yet anyway) it's just the bloody heartburn. Even the boob pain seems to have stopped.
I'm a bit like yourself @redvelvet7 it's hard not to overthink the lack of symptoms, I also booked a private early scan, hopefully to get some reassurance!
Funny you say about KFC @Workingmammabear similar happened to me on my last pregnancy and I still don't like KFC all these years later!!!!

Lulubelle92 · 01/12/2024 08:54

Hi Everyone

Great to see so many people on this thread now, I look forward to going on this journey with you all!

I’m 5 weeks tomorrow. Headaches still come and go but my main thing is bloating/stomach pain (think it’s linked to gas/constipation). Sorry if TMI, this is my first pregnancy and it’s freaking me out a bit as I’ve been waking up in the night with cramps (no bleeding). Anyone else been in this situation? Is it normal? What would you do?

Emelene · 01/12/2024 09:52

Funny you mention it @Lulubelle92 - I also woke with abdo pain in the night … turned out to be gas. Freaked myself out then felt very silly. I have no idea why my system is so bloated at the moment, other than the pregnancy. I’m 5+2 today. Going to try and eat healthier with less sugar and see if that helps. 🤷‍♀️

LolaJ87 · 01/12/2024 10:13

I’m 5+1 and having lots of symptoms but it’s very different to last time. I’m having period style cramps on and off, but no spotting since last weekend, heartburn and my sense of smell is driving me mad. I’m also getting car sick which is impractical!

Boobs still sore too and very TMI but they seeped a little bit during the week. It seems very early for that to happen! Anyone else experienced the same? I wonder if it’s more common in those who’ve had children.

Finding it so hard not to tell our families as well, we’ve seen a lot of them this week and next week will be the same as it’s my son’s birthday.

Hope anyone is having a lovely weekend.
