Hi all, just wanted to start a new thread to use once the old one fills up. I'm due 03/06/2025 and currently 11 weeks exactly. Looking forward to first trimester being over! Has everyone booked in their booking appointments yet/got dates for the 12 week scan?

Here's a link to the old thread for book keeping: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/5171110-due-june-2025

@DramaticFridge Congratulations! I'm 41 and we had started to give up hope after over 4 years of trying, but we used donor eggs and finally had a successful transfer on our 4th try! I'm also clutching at every feeling - I've got nausea most of the day, my boobs are bigger and sore (although I feel like they should be more of both), and I could easily spend all day in bed. Luckily, I have to drag myself for a walk each day as we have a dog, but I follow that with a nap! But, we've just moved house and the unpacking is going very slowly as I just don't have the energy!

@codemytea Your booking appointment sounds awful! You poor thing! Hopefully mine will be more straight forward - I still don't see how it will take 2 hours, but maybe! I'm just glad I've got it booked so quickly after I referred myself, turns out a polite phone call never does any harm!

iridescentbloom · 14/11/2024 11:14

@codemytea I couldn't see the heartbeat flickering like I could at my 8 week scan! But she was able to measure the heartbeat for me and all was good 🙂 good luck with your scan! I had a few sips of lucozade before mine and baby was super active, not sure if that's why 🤣

DramaticFridge · 14/11/2024 11:32

@BertLiv congrats! It has been so hard just waiting for a miracle and I feel so lucky to be in the position I am now :)

My boobs are ENORMOUS! I mean they were an H before and now I feel like they enter the room 5 minutes before I do!

codemytea · 14/11/2024 15:02

@CAM8891 I had a CO of 4 which was threshold - 1 is excellent. I'm mostly okay, the extreme exhaustion is slowly starting to ease which is good. One of my molar teeth just chipped off completely randomly this morning - I was eating oats and suddenly there was somthing crunchy in there... Wasn't even chewing through anything hard, oats are basically a puree! Was quite a shock, but I'm not registered with a dentist so it'll take a while to get registered and be seen, I don't think this qualifies as an emergency. The adage 'gain a child loose a tooth' is really starting to feel real :(

@BertLiv Mine took 40mins so hopefully yours is around the same.

@iridescentbloom Thanks for letting me know - I'm glad you got to see yours moving around, hoping for a similar expercience this evening.

@DramaticFridge Aww no! Mine were only an A to start with and they're already stretching my tops so I really sympathise! Over the last 2 days they've also gone really veiny which is strange :D

Hi everyone,
my midwife has phoned today for me to go for more blood testing as my iron is very low (I have sickle cell). She said depending on the results tomorrow I’ll either need a transfusion or vitamin injections.
Has anyone had any experience with this? Is it dangerous for baby? So worried that my fainting episodes will start again like they used to when I was younger. I had a feeling it was low as when I was driving to work this morning I had no idea where I was almost like I was driving in a new area, light headed and felt everything around me was going slow which are usually key signs that my iron is dropping.

CAM8891 · 14/11/2024 19:01

@ThisElatedMintDreamer I'm not sure the answer to the question, but I can't see it being detrimental to the baby.. have a chat with the midwife when you go xx

CAM8891 · 14/11/2024 19:04

I've been prescribed aspirin from 12 weeks until 36 weeks. It's because my daughter was low birth weight, but I've never heard of it before. I know it's safe so not worried about that, has anyone else had it before or for this pregnancy?

SaturnSpark · 14/11/2024 21:16

Hope everyone is doing okay!
I’m approx 10w5d. I’ve got my NHS scan next week, feels like I’ve been waiting for months!!

HystericalDinosaur · 14/11/2024 21:35

@CAM8891 - yes I had it with my son, firstly for miscarriage prevention (advice on this has changed since then) and then continued because my Mum had pre-eclampsia. Everyone was very reassuring. It's likely I'll be going on it again with this pregnancy, all being well.
@ThisElatedMintDreamer that must be so stressful. I don't think they'd do anything dangerous for baby without briefing you carefully and giving you options. Most likely this is the safest route forward.

I'm on progesterone three times a day, high dose, and the acne side effects are really getting me down. My face is so red, spotty and sore and I feel so self conscious. I've actually just been holding an ice pack to it. 🤦

Bewildened · 14/11/2024 21:42

@ThisElatedMintDreamer i had an iron infusion in my last pregnancy as my ferritin was extremely low. If you can get that instead of the tablets grab it with both hands! The tablets are less effective and cause constipation and nausea, but are much cheaper than the infusion so NHS normally offer them first. In my case it was discovered very late on - I think 37 weeks - so it was too late for the tablets to work.

Anyway the infusion was incredible. I just had to lie down for an hour to have it, and then I felt amazing almost immediately. I lost hardly any blood during the birth and my iron stores have been excellent ever since. It is completely safe for the baby. Definitely go for it asap.

Hi everyone,

Joining the chat. not sure what to say…
but here we go……

3rd baby, DS is 3, DD is 18 months. Bit scared, 3rd wasn’t planned - bit of an “O god” shock moment. 10 weeks now. Due date 12th June. Awaiting dating scan.
first time issuing Badger Notes - actually find it a bit slow. Might just be me, but happy I won’t have to carry around my yellow book, will still need a folder I’m sure for all the letters.

bit worried as I had Low PAPPA with my previous, and will have to go through all the Doens syndrome etc screening. Had to have NIPT testing before m. Bit of an anxious time between now and the 20 months scan.

Im 34 years old.

codemytea · 15/11/2024 00:07

Hiya all and welcome @Missy1213 - ours was a bit of a shock too :)

Just had the dating scan, they've pushed baby ahead again to 11+6 so EDD of 30th May (!) but they said the dates may be slightly off and the 20 week scan will give us a better idea.

We got a picture of what looks like baby sucking its thump which is incredibly cute.

Anyone fancy giving nub theory a go on these? Husband and I are stumped - don't know what to look for!

I got my letter through for 12 week scan and it says they will be charging for scan pics. They didn't charge me last time but it was the pandemic and they wouldn't allow anyone else to come with me to the first scan so that's maybe why? Anyone else being charged for scan pics on the NHS?

CAM8891 · 15/11/2024 08:09

@Stef92 I'm pretty sure I paid for my scan pics in 2016 with my daughter

@codemytea I can't see the nub but from skull shape/theory I would say 💙

Angelselevenx · 15/11/2024 08:09

@Stef92 our letter says it'll be £15 for pictures however people I've known to go to the same hospital have said they weren't charged

Needcoffee24 · 15/11/2024 08:16

@Stef92
I too had to pay in 2017 and 2019 think it was £4 a picture

@codemytea I too think 💙 from the skull and chin theory. Great picture

codemytea · 15/11/2024 09:48

@Stef92 I got my pics from 7wks for free with NHS, but I'm doing all my other scans privately so can't comment on the other ones.

@CAM8891 @Needcoffee24 Both my husband and I guessed 🩷 - shows how inexperienced we are! Didn't even know there was a skull and chin part of nub theory :D Thank you for your guesses. I should have a definite answer by the 26th (after nipt results come back) so I'll update then

My scan letter says £2 charge. With my eldest (different hospital) I’m sure it also said a charge, but we didn’t actually have to pay.

Congrats! These are beautiful photos 🥰

CAM8891 · 15/11/2024 11:50

I'm going for a scan today (private) ... I'm only 8+4 so not really sure what I'm expecting but I can't wait another 3 weeks lol.

Also have really bad anxiety! 🙃

iridescentbloom · 15/11/2024 11:52

@cam8891 I also went for a private scan at 8w5d... Best thing I could have done for my anxiety 🤗 good luck xx

CAM8891 · 15/11/2024 11:53

@iridescentbloom this is reassuring, thank you! Did you see much? X

iridescentbloom · 15/11/2024 11:55

@CAM8891 could see their heartbeat, make out their head/body and their tiny little arm/leg stumps 😅 I was measuring 2 days behind at that scan, I had another scan at 10w6d and was measuring 2 days ahead x

CAM8891 · 15/11/2024 11:59

@iridescentbloom thank you! I'll update this afternoon 🙏🏼
