Hi all, just wanted to start a new thread to use once the old one fills up. I'm due 03/06/2025 and currently 11 weeks exactly. Looking forward to first trimester being over! Has everyone booked in their booking appointments yet/got dates for the 12 week scan?

Here's a link to the old thread for book keeping: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/5171110-due-june-2025

@codemytea my first pregnancy went to 42+5, which I really wouldn’t recommend!!

Gosh! Hope you don't mind me asking - did they induce you/give you a section? Where I am, they have a blanket policy of section at 42.

@YorkshirePeridot I still don't know what to do, so I may just book the flu jab for now and keep thinking about the covid jab. I had my three jabs before, but half my family are serious antivaxxers and, I haven't spoken to them about it, but I can hear in my mind what they'd say. I wish my midwife had recommended yes or no, instead of saying it was our decision!

Exciting that three of us all have the same dating scan date - hopefully it'll be a wonderful day for us all!

@Stef92 I also didn't react well to it after the first jab either, and when I got actual covid I felt awful for about 10 days. But I don't really go many places as I work from home - so it's only really food shopping (which I could start ordering in) and the very occasional meal out somewhere, so we initially figured it wouldn't be worth it. I really don't know though.

I've asked my clinic as well but figure everywhere will refrain from giving a definite recommendation.

I've booked in my flu jab, and was never offered a covid one, either by my midwife or the gp when I booked - have no idea how people who don't have these forums/do lots of research ever find out what's available for them!

Not sure whether to ask for the covid one as well, purely because of the hassle of having to arrange yet again more time off when I haven't told my employer what's up (and don't plan to till I absolutely have to, very small company and I'll be very judged and certainly miss on promotions/pay rises, legality aside). I'm also sick of needles! Had my NIPT yesterday, still have to book early bloods, and then all these flu jabs and whooping cough and rsv and all the other blood tests! Will take me a good few years to recover before I even consider doing this again :D

How is everyone else doing symptom wise? All of mine have cleared up now pretty much, just some residual tiredness but honestly can't tell if that's how I was before or if it's just because I'm pregnant. Similarly fairly sore breats but to be honest they were always complaining about something, even before.

Had a strange dream last night where I looked down and had leaked some colostrum - my husband then proceeded to make a face and tell me I was disgusting! :D no idea where it came from, it was my first pregnancy related dream and my husband would obviously never do that but I woke up feeling very perturbed!

@BertLiv when I was invited for my flu jab it sent me a link to book it online and when I filled out the form they said I wasn't eligible as I was under 65. I called up my GP and they booked me in for the flu and I was told it was my choice if I wanted the Covid jab. Nobody pushed it so just do what's best for you

BertLiv · 21/11/2024 10:49

@Stef92 Well, I've booked my flu jab and the next available one they had was 2/12, so we've got some time to decide just in case they do offer it to me at the same time. Although, it seems quite far away, so I may check daily and see if there are any sooner ones available.

@codemytea My symptoms are pretty much nausea through most of the day, especially if I don't eat - I've discovered Ritz crackers are my friend though! Other than that, slight twinges, sore boobs, headaches and, of course, being very tired! Have you had your 12 week scan yet?

iridescentbloom · 21/11/2024 11:22

I had both the covid and flu jab at 5 weeks pregnant. My sister gets it every year so she just booked me on with her and off we went!

12 weeks today based on LMP and counting down the days to my 12 week scan next week!

codemytea · 21/11/2024 12:15

@BertLiv Yep! I've popped the pics on page 2 of this thread, people seemed to think that it's a boy, but I've had one person outside mumsnet swear they can see the nub and that it's a girl :D I've had the NIPT done yesterday so hopefully in a week or twos time I'll know the gender which I'm really looking forward to! It was really nice seeing baby on the screen, although for some reason it felt less real than my 7 week scan - maybe the novelity had worn off? I could see a little hearbeat flicker, and it 'kicked' at one point, although it was generally just sleeping. When is yours booked for? Sorry if you've said and I've missed it!

Is anyone starting to think about names yet? Now we've seen our peanut on the 12 week scan we've tentatively thrown a few round - Hazel for a girl and Rowan for a boy. But we haven't really thought too much.

@BertLiv sorry - you mentioned the 4th of Dec, didn't you!

OP posts:
iridescentbloom · 21/11/2024 12:48

@codemytea we have been set on our girls name for quite some time now. Boys name is proving more difficult! We have a number one that I just don't 100% love so trying to think of some other options. Not finding out the sex so need to have both options 🤣

Rowan was one of my suggestions to DH, absolutely love the name 😍

codemytea · 21/11/2024 15:02

Just emailed the people that did my 12 week scan and they sent me a report with 14 images and a 15sec video of baby moving! I'm over the moon!

@iridescentbloom good luck finding a name you both love! Thankfully DH is quite chill about these things whereas I'm always more opinionated :)

Those are sweet names! I’m so jealous that you’re past the 12 week mark, I cannot wait to be there! Hopefully the anxiety will lessen. I’m 10+5 today and 12 week scan isn’t until 4th dec! We aren’t going to find out gender but have Milo for boy and Phoebe for girl x

Milo and Phoebe are gorgeous! 12 week scan in December is lovely though, kind of like an early christmas present! Have you told anyone yet or are you waiting till a bit later? We're telling everyone at christmas now we have some nice scans - hopefully the christmas spirit will help lighten the reactions..

Not sure if stats help you/hinder but DH and I personally found https://datayze.com/miscarriage-chart? really helpful to see the cold hard facts on how likely things going wrong is.

Miscarriage Probability Chart

Displays the overall probability of miscarriage - or, conversely, the probability of not miscarrying - based on pregnancy length by day and maternal history.

Thanks! We are also going to go for Christmas as when to tell everyone, have kept it to ourselves because of previous losses, although they were all before 7 weeks so this is definitely the furthest I’ve got and most real it’s felt!
You’ll be getting close to 20 at Christmas, have you started getting a bump yet?
Thanks I love that site! I think the chance of it working out is like 97.8% for me at the moment which is amazing but I wish my brain would see the reason and not keep thinking it’s like a 50% chance 🙈
I keep telling myself there’s no reason for me to suspect an issue and 8 week scan was perfect so chances are 12 week scan will be too 🙏🙏

Edit: you say lighten reactions, are you thinking people won’t react well??

MittensForKittens123 · 21/11/2024 19:40

@codemytea I was induced at 41+6 (policy is 41+5 but no appointments!) I was at home waiting for 2 days then had to go in for the next stage of induction. And eventually 5 days later and a lot of pain, I ended up with an emergency c-section anyway. Not sure what I’d like this time, ideally VBAC, but I don’t want to be induced I think.

MittensForKittens123 · 21/11/2024 19:42

In terms of names, last time we didn’t decide until our son was 2 days old - will probably end up the same or worse this time!

xMrsxHx87x · 21/11/2024 20:50

Finally got my dating scan appointment through for the 5th, so that's quite a lot of us having it within a 3-day window! Still glad to be having the private one tomorrow for a bit more peace of mind though, as 2 weeks feels such a long wait.

CAM8891 · 21/11/2024 20:50

How far along are you all who have your appointments? I thought I would have had mine through by now tbh

xMrsxHx87x · 21/11/2024 20:52

@CAM8891 I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow, so by the time of my scan I'll be 12W6D. How far along are you? Have you had your booking appointment? Sorry if you've already mentioned it, easy to lose track of who's said what in here!

CAM8891 · 21/11/2024 20:53

Oh ok, that makes sense @xMrsxHx87x .. I'm only 9+4.

Yea I had my booking apt a week ago. She did say if I've not had it in 2 weeks then to call them, but I'm impatient 🙃 x

@LacedBouquet glad this one is going so well given everything - will this be your first?

Depends what you call a bump! When standing, if I press just above the bikini line I can feel a hard 'thing' that definitely wasn't there before, but I don't think it's visible externally - although, I don't wear any fitted clothes, so I really wouldn't know.

I know how you feel, I know I should be happy that I've got to week 12 and chances are miniscule now, but now I've got the NIPT to worry about, and I'm really worried about the 20 week scan showing some anomaly :(

And yes, people won't react well - part of the reason I'm enjoying this thread so much! Both DH and I are in our very very early 20s. Uni degrees, high paying stable jobs, currently in the process of buying our forever home, but alas, people tend to see age first before anything else - have had enough of midwives assuming my husband is my brother that I'm taking along for support, although we look nothing alike and there's a foot between us!

At the end of the day though, I keep reminding myself that people around us judge only while we're around them, and we're the ones who will have the joy of (hopefully all things well!) raising our child, which will have a far greater!

We're thinking of announcing to parents by getting these absolutely adorable baubles https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1806085893/first-christmas-as-grandparents-ornament? - cheesy but both sets love baubles so... maybe will temper things? We can hope!

Gosh that sounds horrific! I hope you manage to have a nicer experience this time!

Here's a really nice article on due dates and why the traditional 40 weeks is a bit off for those that are interested: https://evidencebasedbirth.com/evidence-on-due-dates/

The Evidence on: Due Dates

What is an estimated due date, and how is it determined? What are the risks of going past your due date? Does induction increase the risk of Cesarean? At which point do the benefits of being electively induced outweigh the risks? Does a person’s goals...

@CAM8891 I had my booking at 11 weeks and my dating scan at 11+6, nipt at 12+5. Will see my midwife next on the 17th dec when I'm 16+4.

BertLiv · 21/11/2024 23:03

@codemytea of course - sorry! I remember seeing the pics - they’re amazing! And yes, mine is on the 4/12 - can’t wait. I’ve been feeling a bit crampy and emotional today and I feel like these final two weeks might be the hardest!

@CAM8891 I’d just call them if I were you - I mean they’ll know that you’ll be anxious to arrange it. I always think, as long as you’re polite, a call never hurts!

@LacedBouquet Good names! My godson is called Milo!

YorkshirePeridot · 22/11/2024 06:49

My nausea has eased off quite a bit over the last couple of days, and I'm less tired. It's a massive relief actually. We haven't discussed names yet, but maybe we will if the scan goes well!

@CAM8891 my scan appointment came through when I was 10 weeks, 2 weeks after my booking appointment. It was sent to the wrong address though so spent a couple of days being redirected.

CAM8891 · 22/11/2024 06:51

@YorkshirePeridot @codemytea thank you, I'll wait until next week and if it doesn't show up I'll give them a call. I've already got my 16 week apt as they booked that at my booking apt. It's bloody long this first 12 weeks, I don't remember it being like this with my first 🤣

Hope you're all doing ok!

DramaticFridge · 22/11/2024 09:33

I am in this horrible mid stage where it no longer feels real and as horrible as it is I don't actually feel excited anymore. I don't feel pregnant I just feel fat and gross and not very attractive.

I'm hoping that this is just another hormonal shift which will pass but at the min I am quite weepy and negative about it all.

I don't mean to be a Debbie downer - but figure this is a safe space to let it all out cause my bf is being amazing and I don't want him to feel like he is doing anything wrong at all.

Hoping that my 12 week scan on the 30th will perk me up a bit and then It will all be exciting again.
