Just curious if anyone had experienced anything more painful than labour and if so what?

Frozen shoulder. And it went on far longer. I’d have killed for some gas and air

Bells3032 · 30/05/2024 21:45

Gave birth with nothing but gas and air for the contractions and nothing for the pushing...and breaking my rib was waaaaaaay more painful and lasted way longer

Tiredandsadtoday · 30/05/2024 21:46

Tooth abscess. If I had to choose between the two I'd choose labour any day.

BIWI · 30/05/2024 21:47

Yes. IBS cramps that went on for hours longer and were more intense than my first or second labour!

CarrieCardigan · 30/05/2024 21:47

Kidney stones. I gave birth last time without any pain relief and still it didn’t come close to the pain of kidney stones.

mitogoshi · 30/05/2024 21:48

Worse pain in my life was dry socket from my wisdom tooth extraction, dislocating elbow was pretty bad too. Child birth not even in the top 10 and I didn't have pain relief. We all experience it differently

DoublePeonies · 30/05/2024 21:48

Breast feeding a tounge tied newborn was a million times worse than giving birth (which I did on a couple of paracetamol).

MaryFuckingFerguson · 30/05/2024 21:49

I’m one of those weird women that didn’t find labour that painful. I had a tooth abscess that kept me up all night and that was infinitely worse.

Beautifulbythebay · 30/05/2024 21:49

Fractured the same foot a second time at Christmas.. Worse than my labours... And I didn't have pain relief with those...

justasoul · 30/05/2024 21:49

Torn ACL, gallstones and broken vertebrae - all much worse. Team gas and air here too.

Justmuddlingalong · 30/05/2024 21:50

Recovering from getting my tonsils out in my 40s.
Absolute agony that 3x childbirth doesn't compare to in any way.
And it lasted for about 2 weeks.

weescotlass · 30/05/2024 21:50

Gallstones. Childbirth (just gas & air) was a breeze in comparison.

AnnaMagnani · 30/05/2024 21:50

A migraine when I also had the flu. Just lying still with my eyes shut praying even though I don't actually believe in god.

MonsteraMama · 30/05/2024 21:50

Yes! Got booted in the chest by a horse. Shattered sternum and a few ribs. God it hurt, I've never felt anything quite like it, Dr said it looked like I'd been in a car crash. My whole chest was black for weeks and everything hurt, just breathing hurt. I coughed once and thought I was going to die. I'd take labour again any day over a repeat of that!

hby9628 · 30/05/2024 21:50

I agree about a tooth abscess. The dentist didn't seem to think it was an emergency as such but it was total agony. Then they tried to remove the tooth but the anaesthetic wouldn't take due to infection. Awful.
I'd rather go through labour again if I'm honest.

Brbreeze · 30/05/2024 21:50

Trapped wind in my first pregnancy was worse than the giving birth part.

Elsewhere123 · 30/05/2024 21:51

Diverticulitis, infection in ear.

Fuckmyliferightnow · 30/05/2024 21:51

Chemo

fiddleleaffig · 30/05/2024 21:52

Tooth abscess.
Labour is painful but it comes in waves and as soon as it peaks and becomes unbearable it releases and you have a few moments to brace yourself. Also the worse it gets you also know the closer it comes to being over with.
Tooth abscess is constant, with no relief and no obvious end and is far far worse imo

FluffyJellyCat · 30/05/2024 21:52

Calf stitch. Couldn't even draw breath.

Crowning does hurt but that part is over fast.

There's always epidural

Norugratsatall · 30/05/2024 21:52

IBS cramps, nearly made me pass out! And costocondritis, felt like my ribs were being squeezed and turned.

Pixiesgirl · 30/05/2024 21:53

Hmm, I only experienced contractions, not the full shebang, but even that was much more painful than I expected. I had been lead to believe that early contractions feel like beefy period pains. The lesson I took from this is that I have thankfully slight period pains Grin

Toothache, earache and having a compound fracture of my leg requiring a year off school were all more painful. But I only got the trial version of labour, next 2 were elcs.

EverydayIdo · 30/05/2024 21:53

Induction of labour. I asked for them to stop early because it hurt so much. I went into natural labour the next day and itwas painful, but not as bad.

dhxxx · 30/05/2024 21:53

Kidney stones for sure. I genuinely though I would die from the pain

lovemycbf · 30/05/2024 21:54

A ruptured disc
I'd take labour any day over that pain
