Just curious if anyone had experienced anything more painful than labour and if so what?

Wisdom tooth extraction and gallstones both more painful than childbirth here!

SallyWD · 30/05/2024 21:54

I've experienced pain as painful but not more painful.

FantasticElasticBand · 30/05/2024 21:54

Pancreatitis

RagzRebooted · 30/05/2024 21:55

I've had period pains worse than labour, ovarian cyst pain that was also worse.
Like PP said, labour pains came in waves with an end, other pain is different.

reesewithoutaspoon · 30/05/2024 21:55

Frozen shoulder in the period prior to freezing, pain that made me vomit when the arm was knocked.
Tooth abscess and dry socket are both excruciating. I think dental pain is a particularly difficult one to get pain control of, nothing seems to touch it.

SpringerFall · 30/05/2024 21:55

I had an epidural so lots of things, falling of a bike is the main one

kikisparks · 30/05/2024 21:55

Nope, felt like I was getting ripped apart, it didn’t come in waves just relentless agony until I got the epidural.

ExperiencedTeacher · 30/05/2024 21:55

Tooth abscess. Back to back labour, no pain relief was nothing compared to that

SerafinasGoose · 30/05/2024 21:55

Broken spine.

INeedToClingToSomething · 30/05/2024 21:56

God no. Childbirth was by far the worst pain I have ever experienced. I'd rather have a tooth pulled with no anaesthetic!

Wtafisgoingontoday · 30/05/2024 21:56

DiddyEckerslike · 30/05/2024 21:45

Frozen shoulder. And it went on far longer. I’d have killed for some gas and air

Exactly this!

Herdit · 30/05/2024 21:56

I’ve had three and one was nearly 11lbs

i tell you when a slammed a car door on my thumb and cracked the nail across the bed and it poured purple I neatly vomited and passed out the pain was so intense…it was after having my three and it was the worst ive ever endured

User543211 · 30/05/2024 21:58

Labial stitches afterwards and the recovery from that. Awful awful.

Spottyhousecoat · 30/05/2024 21:59

I've had 2 big babies with no drugs the worst pain I have is cramp in both legs at the same time I've had this a couple of times and fainted.

Nellieinthebarn · 30/05/2024 21:59

My heart attack was as bad as the bit in labour when you think 'this can't get any worse' and then it does. Also it didn't stop for ages, despite medication, and I genuinely thought I was going to die. So it was scarier than childbirth, and you don't get a lovely baby at the end.

Mairzydotes · 30/05/2024 22:01

Mastitis with an access.

No. Nothing. It was horrific. It went on for over 40 hours, I was refused pain relief for the first 15 hours, (got gas and air at 15 hours, then pethidine at 23 hours!) Then I had an epidural at 33 hours in. Actually wished I could die at some points, because it would be better to be dead than to be in the pain I was in.

Elaan · 30/05/2024 22:02

Giving birth was as painful for me as all the other ailments I've had have , tooth abscess, brain injury, frozen shoulder, crohnes ,shingles and slipped disc, however, giving birth whilst extremely painful is over relatively quickly, where as the other stuff lasts weeks on end.
There's no top trumps in pain really. It's all horrible and difficult.

MigGirl · 30/05/2024 22:02

A migraine with covid at the same time, I really thought I was going to die.
The pain of my ovarian cyst, which the doctor had to send me to A&E for.

And my sister recently dislocated her elbow and said that was worse then labour.

Hellodarknessmyfriend · 30/05/2024 22:03

An almost ruptured ectopic pregnancy (my last pregnancy - no more now) 😢

tealeaver · 30/05/2024 22:03

Getting braces tightened was a bitch.
Maybe I was because I was young and my pain threshold hasn't developed but I'd rather go through labour than have braces again any day.

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 30/05/2024 22:03

@Mairzydotes

Mastitis with an access.

Do you mean abscess?

YourWinter · 30/05/2024 22:04

Osteomyelitis (abscess in the bone)
Dental abscess

Both immeasurably worse than any of my three labours (all standard vaginal deliveries).

I understand bone cancer and passing kidney stones are both worse than any pain I’ve experienced.

barbismyfriend · 30/05/2024 22:04

Gallstones.

About the same level tbh.

TheFunSponge · 30/05/2024 22:05

Gallstones. The pain came in waves like contractions but far, far worse!!
