Just curious if anyone had experienced anything more painful than labour and if so what?

OP posts:

Fuck yeah - gave birth twice without so much as a paracetamol (for reasons I won’t bore you with, but not necessarily by choice).
Firstly, Gallstones and Gallbladder infection. Thought it couldn’t get worse than that but then…..
Kidney Stone - thought I was going to die. Off the scale pain.
And finally, in A and E for suspected Cauda Equina, thankfully it wasn’t but was ruptured discs. Possibly on a par with Kidney Stones pain wise but went on for much longer.

Definitely dry socket, I would have happily had someone chop my head off at the time, the pain was dreadful and I’ve had both my dc without pain relief but would have exchanged the dry socket for labour.

two years ago I had a uterine ablation which has failed and resulted in post ablation failure, now I experience every period with labour-like pain. I’m currently on my period and the pain is making me feel beyond nauseous. My biggest regret is having had this bloody ablation.

Saffster2024 · 30/05/2024 22:33

No, I personally haven’t. But I have very long labours (days of contractions rather than hours) so it’s the never-ending part of it. The actual birth part was fine in comparison.

Livingmagicallyagain · 30/05/2024 22:33

I've had two inductions (no pain relief). C section recovery was far more painful.

And an ear infection was worse than that!

blondie285 · 30/05/2024 22:33

Yeah, ruptured ectopic pregnancy was worse than my contractions in labour. But nothing has topped the ring of fire

TealDog · 30/05/2024 22:33

Neck strain. I had it for days and could barely move without feeling like I was going to pass out or throw up. I gave birth with no pain relief and I’d choose to do it again over having neck strain.

Moier · 30/05/2024 22:34

Labour wasn't that painful. Only had gas and air.
The joy of having a baby at the end takes away the pain.
I've been thrown under a bus ( left for dead ).
Broken both hips and pelvis.
Suffered Endometriosis.
Fibromyalgia.
Osteoarthritis.
Kidney stones.
But a Broken heart 💔 and mental health has been more painful than anything physical.

Marblessolveeverything · 30/05/2024 22:34

Herniated discs, sciatica and other back joys. The pain has been excruciating for days at a time where l literally took all the medicine offered injections etc and cried.

Also a septic gallbladder and gall stones, dozens of the buggers. Labour was hard work, birth was painful but not continued and ended on delivery.

JaffavsCookie · 30/05/2024 22:35

Tooth abscess, ruptured acl, torn rotator cuff

SD1978 · 30/05/2024 22:35

Renal colic, kidney stones. Pretty much any woman who has been pregnant and had both says they'd rather give birth again it a baby than a kidney stone

MouseKeys · 30/05/2024 22:35

I was induced and the pain was horrendous , my DH said says that at one point I stood up on the bed and shouted at them to stop it ( I have absolutely no recollection of this)
But 3 months later, I got sepsis from a rogue fibroid and I have never ever known pain like it, it was a million times worse than being induced, 0 stars, would not recommend

lemonyellows · 30/05/2024 22:36

Yes. Frozen shoulder and polymyalgia. Constant pain.

Labour is painful but temporary

Justcats · 30/05/2024 22:36

Nope.

neilyoungismyhero · 30/05/2024 22:39

Broken back. Couldn't speak or breath properly nor move- spasms very similar to labour pains strangely but worse.

UnimaginableWindBird · 30/05/2024 22:40

I once accidentally sliced some skin off my thumb and it got infected. It wasn't constant pain, but whenever my toddler bumped into my hand, it was far worse than labour and took weeks to clear up.

Circumferences · 30/05/2024 22:40

Anal sex (rape, actually) with no lube, leading to fissure lasting years was way way worse than childbirth

WoodBurningStov · 30/05/2024 22:41

Broken ribs
Broken wrist
Migraine
Had a bad case of tonsillitis which I think I'd rather give birth than have that again

PitterPatter3 · 30/05/2024 22:41

Runover foot whilst wearing a sandal, then having the tyre dirt cleaned out from the damaged nail-beds in A&E. I’d not that long ago given birth and told the nurse it was much worse than that.

Gall stones, two week after labour, thought I was dying of a heart attack!

peebles32 · 30/05/2024 22:43

An ablation under local anaesthetic! Not as long but passed out from the pain.

KohlaParasaurus · 30/05/2024 22:44

No. I've had a kidney stone and I've had severe dental pain, but the pain of established labour was worse than either of them.

Bbq1 · 30/05/2024 22:46

Cancer (twice)
Perforated bowel leading to part of bowel removed and a temporary illeostomy.

Pre all this i gave birth with gas and air and didn't find it that difficult or painful.

Ouch

CassandraWebb · 30/05/2024 22:55

Weird period pains I get occasionally, probably a couple of times a year, that leave me in so much pain I am vomiting

I didn't find labour pains too bad, I think the excitement about finally meeting my baby really helped. In my second labour I hadn't had sleep for a week (my older child had been seriously ill) and I slept through some of the contractions Grin (and I am quite a wimp about pain)
