We got way over excited today and ordered a giant mural wallpaper for the nursery 🤦🏽‍♀️ please tell me I'm not the only one who has started nursery decoration planning already

tierneytarny · 09/04/2024 09:35

Just placemarking.

Struggling with body changes today - I haven’t really had much of a bump with my other pregnancies, even going in to give birth. To have a bit of a bump so early is definitely freaking me out a bit!

Kate543 · 09/04/2024 09:43

Wow ladies some beautiful bumps!

I’m feeling huge and had planned a shopping trip with my mum today to go get some clothes that fit but feeling really anxious

Im 19 weeks and barely felt any movements and yesterday I was having period like cramps 😬 trying to tell myself it’s because I had a busy weekend, on Sunday went to support my sister at the London half marathon and ended up walking over 20000 steps and yesterday was my daughters second birthday so took her to wicksteed park 😂

just feeling mega anxious and cannot wait until next Tuesday to get to my 20 week scan!

VT6 · 09/04/2024 09:52

Just checking in, I’ve been quiet on here for a few weeks…. Nothing to report, heard the heartbeat yesterday 💖

VT6 · 09/04/2024 09:52

@Kate543 it sounds like round ligament pain xx

ForeverHopeful67 · 09/04/2024 10:07

Morning everyone!

Haven't posted for a little while - been pretty poorly, diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia ( super painful face pain!) they think because of the swelling caused by pregnancy pushing on nerves 😩

19 weeks tomorrow though - almost half way! and 20 week scan next week 🙂 feeling movements every day now and I love it!

Hope everyone is doing well 💕

Khanga27 · 09/04/2024 10:37

Xur · 08/04/2024 19:35

Yes @Khanga27 your understanding was correct. I am a manager and the risk assessment must happen once you inform your employer you are pregnant. Normally it’s related to when you say in writing but most places do not require a written confirmation and just take the verbal note and carry on with the procedure. Normally what happens is that once you tell your line manager you manager will then inform HR in writing and then either HR provides your manager with the risk assessment forms and advice on what the procedure is or your manager already knows. But the employee health risk for pregnant workers starts as soon as you notify.
your employer is required to consider your work related stress, physical work such as lifting or carrying heavy stuff, sitting or standing for prolonged time and exposure to unhealthy chemicals etc.
if your employer is having you continue working there whilst pregnant without carrying out a risk assessment, then the employer is technically breaching their duty of care towards you. If anything happens to you or your baby your employer might be liable. For further reading please look at the below links. You are right to ask for a risk assessment to happen earlier, if HR denies this then what the actual fuck!?!?
if they are reviewing your ability to do extra work whilst pregnant, really the only outcome of that review, unless you really volunteer would be to exclude you from doing any extra while pregnant because that could attribute to work related stress which is something your employer should be looking to avoid putting you under.

Thanks so much for this it’s really helpful. I feel work generally is putting a downer on my pregnancy completely (where I already have anxiety because of my MMC last year), and I wish I could just look for a different job but that would impact on my maternity frustratingly. My old team (same company) was so much more supportive but I don’t think they have vacancies there at the moment.

Honeyandsunshine1 · 09/04/2024 10:41

@WinsandSam omg, same. I’m not really a hugger or a toucher but I’m also very non-confrontational (much to my later annoyance) so people reaching out and stroking my belly makes me 🤢 I then get annoyed at myself later on for not speaking up 🤣

hahahah @Lillers i might use your line 🤣 I actually don’t plan on seeing my in-laws again until after the baby now so I might actually be safe. Do you have touchy feely pals or is it just your husbands side who are prone to stroking?

Exactly @Xur! I actually would never dream of doing it to anyone. And like you say @BeautyAndTheBump1 I actively try to not comment on size either. I remember with my first everyone would mention the “you sure it’s not twins?” Too. Like, no, I trust the sonographer over your shit jokes, fuck offff 🥲 “throwing hands on my 78 year old neighbour” made me howl though 🤣😂😂

@Emmaev @longingtobe23 @HolyMoly24 sorry you’ve had it too! Christ, it is super common to then 😩 I like the gas response lmao. “Don’t touch - will fart”. Might make a giant birthday-style badge to attach to my front. Might use that to replace the “baby on board” one.

“Farts on board - ⚠️”

BadLobster · 09/04/2024 11:59

Had my 15 week scan today as the baby was not cooperating at the 12 week one to get a due date. I’m due 1st Oct - hope I’m ok to stay in this thread!

My sister is now convinced it’s a girl based on the shape of the skull, but from what I’ve read it’s not a very accurate method. Any guesses?

MudandMoet · 09/04/2024 12:32

Hey everyone!! Thanks for the new thread @Lillers

I'm having a shitter with work today so thought I'd have ten mins and check to see if there was another thread and I'm so pleased there is, all the bumps pics are fab!!! Here's mine (I'm 19+6) I wear baggy hoodies for knocking around in (wfh) so not overly noticeable yet. Have done a fairly big Next order as they use different maternity brands, thats due anytime now but I'm not sure how I feel about having my bump on show I'm not sure why?!

I'm going pram shopping tomorrow with my bestie and I'm so excited. Have found a shop in Sheffield that has the top 4 that I like (fingers crossed they're in stock to play with)

Hi all, have been reading along but not posted in ages. Wasn't too much going on. Will be 19 weeks this Friday. Still don't really have a bump, although I feel like I'm spreading sideways and upwards.

Been starting to feel ligament pain the last couple of weeks and ended up in the ED after what can only be described as a 'rip' feeling under my belly button during swimming. Consultant explained it's likely my abdominal muscles starting to split around my sternum and middle as they stretch sideways. Really miss exercise but have to take it easy on the swimming and the pilates.

Love seeing your bump pics, don't really have one. Not sure if am feeling movement yet, the occasional little 'bubble' or even bubble 'popping' sensation? Hard to dell the difference between it and mild trapped wind tbh 😂

The recycled items whatsapp groups and facebook groups seem to be really helpful, we got a gorgeous Snuzpod over the weekend from someone who was recycling it. Just will get a new mattress. Highly recommend people looking into them so we don't end up smashed broke. 😂

Decaffe · 09/04/2024 12:48

Aha so this is where everyone is!

I have quite a big bump too, can’t believe I still have four weeks to go until the 20 week scan.

I’ve been feeling some movements since week 15, but recently it’s only in the mornings when I wake up.

Is anyone else getting stressed about sleeping on their left hand side? Naturally I turn to the right but I’m waking up in the night worried about it and constantly trying to turn back to the left.

longingtobe23 · 09/04/2024 13:07

@Decaffe i think it’s much later I’d be more inclined to stuff myself in a left hand position haha but either side is okay at the mo! Double check with midwife though I’m no expert!
I keep lying on my front still and then forgetting but apparently that’s also okay until bump come out. 17 tomorrow ekkk so any day now I’ll have no option.

@rupertbear91 our office pod is coming in 3 weeks the groundwork is going in soon
then I cannot wait to get wallpaper sample and paint and a new carpet in the old office 🙌🏻

SC126 · 09/04/2024 13:29

@MudandMoet yay for pram shopping. Glad you found somewhere. I think I have my heart set on the bugaboo fox not buying yet though. Will wait until I've saved a bit and for a sale as we have time to wait for discounts afterall!

I've also created an Amazon baby wishlist yesterday. Though I really don't need much this time around. We sorted through my sons old baby clothes from the loft and didn't realise how much he had. We are sorted in clothes up to 6 month 🤣and we have grobags in every tog and size up to 18 months! I also still have his old nursery furniture and snuzpod so will just need mattresses.

WinsandSam · 09/04/2024 14:32

Had my 16 week midwife appointment today, they don't listen to baby's heartbeat in Norwich 😭

also confirmed all my symptoms of eczema, worsening asthma, thirst, weeing 6 times a night and dry mouth are all normal 😅

This is my first and today I'm feeling wobbly, really anxious about birth. I've always had a fear of birth/preganancy but hormones have made me really chilled. Think reality is hitting home now and I feel a bit low

Jojod12 · 09/04/2024 15:19

Hi Ladies.

How’s everyone with the tiredness. I’m just 16 weeks and have been ok since week 12 but wow this week I’m shattered, the tiredness is back! Currently in work and want to fall asleep at my desk. If anyone taking additional supplements to help? I am 39 and this is my second child but wow, I can feel the difference than when I was 27 years old with my first.

malimoon · 09/04/2024 15:29

@Jojod12 I'm 15+4 and have been much more tired this week as well. Any days I go into the office I get home absolutely exhausted. I'm 38 so similar age to you, maybe that's it or maybe it's just tiring growing a baby!

Jojod12 · 09/04/2024 15:34

@malimoon I think it may be a bit of both. I have a few friends who are pregnant second time in there late 30s and say its soo much harder at this age. I'm currently researching pregnancy's safe energy supplements with one eye half closed! ha.

malimoon · 09/04/2024 15:50

@Jojod12 let me know if you find anything good!

Lillers · 09/04/2024 15:51

@WinsandSam I get what you mean about the anxiety of birth - it doesn’t help that my husband keeps looking at me wistfully and saying things like, “I know you’ll probably be fine, but I’m really scared of what’ll happen if you don’t survive the birth.” 🥴 It’s kind of sweet of him to say, but also I’m not particularly worried about that, I’m more worried about the pain/doing it in a way that causes the least amount of damage.

WinsandSam · 09/04/2024 16:00

@Lillers yes that's my fear; pain, being out of control and invasive procedures.. gosh although kind that'd freak me out. Death isn't something I've considered an outcome 😅 bless him. It's all new and weird and I feel pretty low! Not every day but notice they're increasing

mrsbgb · 09/04/2024 16:00

Hi all! First time poster - expecting my first in mid-September, currently 17+4.

@Lillers @WinsandSam I have the exact same anxiety about getting baby out... I just finished reading 'Expecting Better' which has made me feel much more informed, and I've got a few more birth-focused books on my bedside table. Trying to find the balance between feeling knowledgeable v freaking myself out more!

@Jojod12 the exhaustion is real here too, I had to have an hours nap at lunch -luckily WFH today, not sure how to swing this the next two days in the office! Even when I've had a (relatively) good nights sleep at the moment I still feel exhausted all day. Hoping the second trimester glow/energy will appear soon!

WinsandSam · 09/04/2024 16:01

@malimoon @Jojod12 I'm 40 and bloody shattered!! A day in the office kills me and I could have a nap by about 1:30. Not helped by poor sleep. Think our bodies are having a meltdown 😅

WinsandSam · 09/04/2024 16:03

@mrsbgb it's good to know I'm not alone! You hear lots of scare stories but a lot of it is my own stuff.. I haven't read any books as been avoiding knowing too much, but it might be helpful. Thanks

Jojod12 · 09/04/2024 16:13

Glad to hear we are all in the tiredness together! Anyone else’s husband/partners snore? because we are going to end up divorced soon!!! ha. I have him snoring, also 2 sausage dogs in bed with me that also snore plus two teenagers upstairs that are on their phones to their mates until the early hours as its half term. All the while I’m desperate for sleep and exhausted. I’ll be checking into a hotel at this rate! Ha
