@Martibum Eeeek, I am not an expert but I’m rather certain it’s not ideal to be 19 weeks with twins and be the same weight as before. Means your body is working too hard to provide for all involved parties 😭

Martibum · 11/04/2024 07:26

@Xur I've been in touch with a dietician previously but I think I'll need to have some sort of meal plan so maybe I'll ring again for some support. Ideally I need to add 2kg per month but I'm back down to 50kg which is pre pregnancy so anything gained is lost. I'm thankful my sickness is starting to ease so I can start looking after myself again.

Xur · 11/04/2024 07:48

@Martibum I was 55kg and now I’m 62 kg. Weighted myself today morning, it’s both good and bad😭😂 I don’t think I’ll be weighing myself until the end now I’m afraid of the scales 😂

MudandMoet · 11/04/2024 08:14

Morning all!

I'm officially half way now, yikes!! It's actually going really fast now I feel for me but that's probably because I have a list of jobs for the house and a gargantuan shopping list needed before babies arrival.

Restless legs last night was something like I've never known, I've always suffered on and off but jeez for a few hours in the night it was unbearable. I'm going to get my magnesium spray back out and eat whatever Dr Google suggests today to try and help later. Any successful tips welcome xx

Khanga27 · 11/04/2024 08:19

Hi all, that’s me at the 20 week half way point today, scan is on Monday (so so nervous)! I’m still struggling with my hips when in bed from sleeping on my side. I’m mainly sleeping on my left side but have needed to occasionally switch to right because of how sore my hip gets. Was hoping I’d be used to it by now. My pillow helps a bit at least. Does anyone else have the same? Also, I’ve been more hungry than before which I’m taking as a good thing to fuel my body but just need to make sure eating the right things 😅

longingtobe23 · 11/04/2024 08:24

I’m 17wks only a singleton but I weigh 2lb more than at booking. Midwife wasn’t fazed at all! We’re all different!

I’m a twin however and my mum didn’t see a gain until month 5 (sickness) then in fairness she went up 2 stone at the end fairly quickly! Again - never mentioned to her - as long as babies are growing ☺️ we were 5lb and 6lb at 36 weeks xx

I’ve had hip pain too, and the pillow helped a bit but I changed the way I used it last night and the pain was almost non-existent. All the pictures show the pillow between the legs, which does help, but last night I just put the top leg on it and kept the bottom leg straight (so on my left, left leg was straight and right leg was at a right angle on the pillow). I adjusted the pillow so it was firmer than usual and it did seem to help a lot. I think it’s a lot of trial and error but I did a pregnancy yoga for hip pain video yesterday and that was the shavasana pose and it felt so good, so decided to try it overnight.

I'm 18 weeks tomorrow and have gained 7 pounds.

So last night was the first night in ages my leg cramps didn't bother me but instead it was constant waking with the round ligament pain all on my right side 😭 could hardly get out of bed when I needed a wee (another regular occurrence at least 2/3 times a night)

Martibum · 11/04/2024 09:25

@longingtobe23 my mum had twins too and she said she was in her normal clothes for a looong time! She didn't even know she was having twins until 2 weeks beforehand (in 1981)!
I was keeping up with my prenatal vits as much as I could and my growth scan was really good. I'll touch base wity dieting anyway just in case. I had serious 3rd trimister munchies with my first so maybe I'll pile it all on in one go!

rupertbear91 · 11/04/2024 09:50

@Khanga27 I'm struggling with my hip pain too from side sleeping. I saw my physio this morning and she's suggested to put a duvet cover under my bed sheet as some cushioning as I don't have a lot of natural padding around my hips. I find my pregnancy pillow going between my knees puts more pressure on my hips.

@Martibum I have also lost weight with my HG I am still 2kg lighter now than I was pre pregnancy but do have a bump still. I saw the lead consultant yesterday and she's not worried at all

Lillers · 11/04/2024 10:05

@Martibum @rupertbear91 I’m also still 4lbs lighter than I was before pregnancy (just under 2kg).

In the first trimester I lost half a stone so have been steadily putting back on since then, so not worried.

I’ve got my 16 week appointment at lunchtime, looking forward to seeing the midwife and just having a chat about the pregnancy.

OP posts:
HRP1990 · 11/04/2024 10:27

All this weigh chat got me intrigued lol so I went to weigh myself just now and I’m exactly the same as I was pre booking. My daughter was 8.3lb so I’m expecting to put it on eventually!

My 16 week scan is next Wednesday (I’ll be 18+6 as the midwife is on holiday) and then my 20 week scan is literally the week after. Feel like I haven’t seen in ages 😂 (because I haven’t!)

I know chances are slim, but it’ll be nice to hear the heartbeat 🤞🏻

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 11/04/2024 10:29

So jealous of you guys who are half way already lol!

I still weigh around 5lbs less but I have HG. I actually have a consultant appointment next week as my BMI is under 18 so they've put me on baby aspirin...only thing is I tried the aspirin at 12 weeks and it made me vomit even more so I stopped taking it...so I know I'm going to get bollocked next week for not taking it...but its only to stop the baby having a 'low birth weight' but my 1st born was 7lbs2 when he was born at 41 weeks which isn't a low weight, and I had HG my entire pregnancy with him. I did weigh a stone more though with that pregnancy...I just never gained it back so that's why I've been referred to consultant led this time

Emmaev · 11/04/2024 10:57

I can’t believe some of us are almost half way! I’ve got my 20 week scan next Tuesday and so nervous. Hope babe is ok in there. Although definitely feeling baby move around now.

In regards to weight I’ve put on so much already, once I put on 10lbs I stopped weighing myself. The first trimester I couldn’t stop eating. The second has been much better and I’ve been eating healthier. I’m trying to not get hung up on weight but it is difficult.

Xur · 11/04/2024 11:52

I’m still eating healthy, I never went through the beige food era or the sweets. I don’t snack on cookies or chocolate so I am not sure where these kilos are coming from. The only thing I can think of has been my constant focus on protein rich food. Eggs, cottage cheese, curd cheese…Judging by how much others have gained I’m feeling like a right whale 😂🐋🐳
I have my 20 week scan next Thursday. I can’t believe time has gone so quick!

TTCSoManyQuestions88 · 11/04/2024 12:14

@Emmaev I also have my 20 week scan on Tuesday, how exciting 😃!!! And unlike most posters, I've already put on about 12-13 lbs!

First trimester nausea just set me up for bad habits as all I could eat was white carbs. And now in my second trimester I'm just hungry all the time 🤣 this will be next year's problem, will enjoy my baby first

Emmaev · 11/04/2024 12:50

@TTCSoManyQuestions88 exactly this, I ate all the bad carbs for 12 weeks because I just needed to eat constantly haha. My appetite has suppressed since baby is growing. But I’m hoping with breastfeeding it may help with the weight gain.

I gained 3 stone with my daughter, and lost it all and more, so I’m just gonna embrace what I want now within reason and worry about the weight after. My OH is a total gym buff so I know after he’ll be amazing at meal prep and motivating me to be active.

Lillers · 11/04/2024 13:03

16 week appointment today went well! All my results have been great, and I got to hear the heartbeat. I’m constantly amazed at the expertise of the professionals in this process - while she was listening it all sounded the same to me, but she could tell what was heartbeat and what was blood vessels. At one point she said, “Listen, the stronger sound is the heart, and the slightly quieter one just after is the blood being pushed round after each beat.” I nodded along because I had no idea what I was listening for 😂

MudandMoet · 11/04/2024 13:34

@Emmaev @TTCSoManyQuestions88 I've got my scan on Tuesday too 😁 (20+5)

All the weight talk got me intrigued so I've just weighed myself and I've put 9lbs on. Not had any sickness though and eating eased my nausea back when I had it so it's to be expected really. I'm not worried and probably won't weigh myself again as I cba watching what I eat, pregnancy is freaking hard enough and I'm always hungry!

MrsM89 · 11/04/2024 13:47

I've also put on about 8lb. And I'm still being sick. In my last two pregnancies I've put on around 3 stone. I'm not worried about it though. Pregnancy is hard work especially with parenting the little ones you've already got. Xx

tryingfortwo2 · 11/04/2024 13:47

Just in case anyone is quietly reading and worried about the weight chat, as I would’ve first time round - I was a tall, lean size 10 pre-pregnancy with my daughter, and gained 4 stone exactly by the time I gave birth. My baby was 7lbs 5, healthy as can be, as was I throughout pregnancy and birth (still able to walk my dogs up to 2 hours until the day of my induction).

I dropped 1stone exactly in birth, and the remaining 3 steadily came off with time. Please don’t stress about the amount gained (unless obv advised otherwise), your body is doing an incredible thing and comparisons aren’t always the best thing for us ♥️

tryingfortwo2 · 11/04/2024 13:51

(The point of that was supposed to be that I remained active, cravings were apples and hummus, and didn’t have a particularly big baby but still gained 4 stone - every body is different, so unless you’re really worried for your/baby’s health, please don’t stress if you’re body is changing at a rate different to others)

WinsandSam · 11/04/2024 14:30

@Martibum why do they think that because we're pregnant we've grown taller? I'm 5'3" and no trousers fit me. There's a gap in the market for petite maternity unless you want to spend loads

WinsandSam · 11/04/2024 14:36

I weighed myself today and have put on half a stone (7lbs.) Am not worried. Love the beige food (currently eating a cardamon bun 😅) not being a health freak but getting my fruit and veg in.
I'm more worried about keeping active so going to Pilates, starting pregnancy yoga next week and walking daily. Don't want my bones to seize up after having back issues in the past

SC126 · 11/04/2024 15:14

@WinsandSam 5ft 2 and totally relate! I bought maternity work trousers from vinted and they were too long so I chopped the bottoms and turned them up so you can't tell 🤣 I dare buy any maxi dresses though!
