Hi all. I’ve been a bit quiet on here recently, but like quite a few others I have my 20 week scan today! I’ve been feeling her quite consistently for the last 10 days or so, so feel a little reassured going into today.

Sorry to hear about the stress you’ve had @MrsM89 , all the best for today

Lillers · 07/05/2024 07:55

Good luck everyone who has scans/appointments today! So many in one go!

Mine is on Friday in the afternoon. Annoying that I have to wait until then, but also lovely because I won’t need to go back to work afterwards and we’ve made a plan to go out if it’s all good news (buying baby’s first official outfit, having a cocktail/mocktail by the river and then going for dinner).

We’ve decided that our gender reveal to family and friends will be a photo of which cocktail/mocktail we order. DH’s drink of choice is espresso martini, and mine is cosmopolitan, so if it’s a boy we’ll send them the photo of his drink and if it’s a girl we’ll send a photo of mine!

Love that gender reveal idea @Lillers !

Decaffe · 06/05/2024 23:51

Is it your second @TripleESept24? I am four days behind you and can’t feel a thing, let alone anyone else seeing/feeling him…

Yes it's my second! I have been feeling flutters since about 17 weeks but full blown kicks now. I take it it's your first? I can't remember my first tbh and when it happened as it was 20 years ago 🤣

MudandMoet · 07/05/2024 10:38

Lots of scans today! Fingers crossed it's positive news for everyone 🤞🏼🫶🏻

Decaffe · 07/05/2024 10:57

Checking in! Scan all okay thankfully, he’s a right wriggler but turns out I have an anterior placenta as I didn’t feel a thing during his gymnastics!

I barely slept last night as I have been so anxious but thank you all for your reassurance and kind words over the weekend 🩵

Best of luck to everyone else today!

Cat2022 · 07/05/2024 11:12

@Decaffe thats great news that all is well! I had a fully anterior placenta last time and it can be tricky to sense a pattern of movement but I was always told that once it establishes it is your own pattern that matters even if it’s dull movements being felt further on. I felt rolls rather than clear kicks mostly.

Lillers · 07/05/2024 11:17

@Decaffe I’m so pleased it went well!

I have anterior but defo feeling her going now at 21 weeks second baby 8 year age gap - if that helps anyone at all.

also made them check my low placenta and it was 5mm from the OS which is pretty low cut off any closer it is placenta previa from my google research! 🤞🏻 it moves by 32 weeks

cd24x · 07/05/2024 11:34

Great news @Decaffe. I also have anterior placenta and felt hardly anything going into 20 week scan last week. Since then, the kicks have ramped up of an evening, to the point that I've been able to feel them with my hand, and even DS felt them last night. Baby goes quiet whenever DH goes near 😂I definitely think baby has changed position which has helped. Fingers crossed you get to feel more of your little gymnast soon!

Keeping everything crossed for positive news from all the other scans today xx

MrsM89 · 07/05/2024 12:45

Bless you all. Thank you for all your wishes. Baby looks to have a duplex collecting kidney on right and no kidney visible on left. They couldn't see any other problems but say obviously checks will be greater when born. Got to see urologist for a plan and another fetal medicine appointment at 32weeks. Xx

WinsandSam · 07/05/2024 12:46

Also checking in with good news! She is growing as they hoped and there was no obvious issues or concerns. So very relieved.

Thinking of the rest of you today xx

WinsandSam · 07/05/2024 12:48

@MrsM89 well that sounds like it's the best news you could have had! Lots of future thinking and planning which I hope is reassuring 🙏 can't be easy though c

Decaffe · 07/05/2024 12:54

Oh @MrsM89 that does sound reassuring doesn’t it, so good to have an answer and yes extra scans and a plan from the experts. She will be in the safest of hands. So pleased for you. How are you feeling?

Decaffe · 07/05/2024 12:55

Oh that’s fab @WinsandSam!

mrsbgb · 07/05/2024 12:57

@MrsM89 so pleased to hear you've had a diagnosis - sending good kidney-based vibes!

Great to hear that everyone else's scans have been positive today as well. Definitely a nerve-wracking moment!

RosiePH · 07/05/2024 15:20

My scan is not until Friday. I was given the choice of 2 hospitals when I booked so I went with the closer one. But now it turns out that I can’t get the whooping cough vaccine at that one and will have to go to the other hospital for a quick vaccine. Really annoying as it’s a 45 minute drive each way (plus you have to allow a good 20 minutes to park) and means I have to drop my husband off at work in the morning and pick him up afterwards as we’ve only got the one car. If I’d have known, I’d have picked the other hospital - especially as I hate driving with a sore arm.

That’s another half day of work I’ll be missing!

Lillers · 07/05/2024 15:25

@RosiePH What time on Friday is your scan? Mine’s on Friday too 🥰

OP posts:
RosiePH · 07/05/2024 15:53

@Lillers mine is at 1.30pm! When is yours?

I’ve just managed to get my GP to do the whooping cough vaccine for me on Thursday afternoon 😊 saves a 90 minute round trip!

malimoon · 07/05/2024 15:56

My scan isn't until next Wednesday! When I will be 20+5. Very impatient to see baby again especially as I haven't felt much movement (or have I... it's so hard to know when it's your first!). Glad to hear that everybody's scans and appointments today have gone well, I hope you feel a bit better after yours @MrsM89

Lillers · 07/05/2024 16:09

@RosiePH Aaah mine is also at 1.30!! Literally can’t wait!

I can get the whooping cough vaccine at the hospital I’m booked in at, but my also-pregnant friend has warned me that it’s right at the other side of the hospital and feels like a 10 mile hike to get to 😂

OP posts:
MrsM89 · 07/05/2024 16:39

Ah whopping cough vaccine. When should we have that. With all the worry at the 20w scan no one offered it to me. Xx

Lillers · 07/05/2024 16:57

@MrsM89 I think it’s any time from 16 weeks. I was told to ask for it when I’m next at the hospital, or to book it through the GP.

OP posts:
RosiePH · 07/05/2024 17:01

@MrsM89 i think it can be done up until the point of going into labour, but it’s recommended between 16 and 32 weeks.

WinsandSam · 07/05/2024 17:11

@RosiePH I didn't have mine at hospital, I booked in with gp. Why don't you do that?
