@WinsandSam ah I'm from near Norwich too! I have my 16 week appt tomorrow and was hoping to hear it as did with my first last year

I know what you mean about being scared of the birth I was exactly the same with my first, I know it might sound a bit silly but I watched a lot of positive birth stories on your tube and also listened to a hypnobirthing podcast it really did help me to not be so anxious about birth, it ended in CSection but I used a lot of the techniques to keep calm throughout my pregnancy and on the day - it really did help me a lot so worth a try :) x

WinsandSam · 09/04/2024 16:19

@hol92 small world!! She said they don't routinely (I'm at a city practice) so may be different for you. She said if I really wanted to she could but she's unlikely to find it and will panic mums to be. Fair point!

Thank you, I've always said I'd have a c section but that's freaking me out now. I'll get watching some positive stories and hope that helps. Also going to look into some therapy to help me

hol92 · 09/04/2024 16:30

@WinsandSam yeah definitely try it, it kind of makes you look forward to it in a strange way! I went into labour at 36 weeks and my baby was stuck in breech position so had to have an emergency section, different from my pool birth I wanted haha but it didn't matter at the end of the day :) hope it helps you too x

Lillers · 09/04/2024 16:33

@hol92 Can you remember the name of the hypnobirthing podcast? Lots of people have suggested looking into hypnobirthing and I love a good podcast.

Oh my ladies!!!🤩🤩🤩 I’m jumping on the bump train too! Mine’s very small in comparison to others though. I feel like my everything else is more determined to supersize rather than the belly.😂

@Decaffe I’m not particularly worried about one side, but I do still sleep partly on my belly 😞 I keep feeling guilty whenever I do.

MudandMoet · 09/04/2024 16:46

@SC126 I'm the same really, will go and have a good play and check them out but would like to come back and check online for prices as there seems to be some bargains around and the shop doesn't have a sale on yet so I'm sure I'll get it cheaper thank their prices. Rather than use savings, we've been putting 40 quid a week for the last almost 20 weeks in the 'pram pot' so that's £800 already towards it. Other bits and bobs we seem to pick up when just out food shopping and I've got some right bargains on Vinted. My brother told me about the Amazon wish list yesterday so I'm on with that later.

I'm also in the tired club, never known anything like it, I'm also shitting myself about the birth but strangely throwing it to the back of my mind for now like it's not really happening.

cd24x · 09/04/2024 16:48

@Decaffe I've been suffering with sciatica the last week or so, and it's down my left so I can't sleep on that side. I've been reading up online that sleeping on right side is next best thing in pregnancy, so I wouldn't be too worried. My pack from the midwife also says that it's from 3rd trimester to be more conscious of sleeping on your side.

@Xur @longingtobe23 I've also been sleeping on my front some nights as it just feels comfier! I'm thinking I might as well until I get to the point where I can't. I remember after having DS how amazing it felt to sleep on my front again, even after a c section.

SC126 · 09/04/2024 16:59

@Decaffe im naturally a side sleeper anyway but I prefer my right side. I'm not worried. I tend to move between each side anyway during the night as I get uncomfy but majority of the night is the right side. Plus if I lie on my left sometimes I'll get my husband breathing in my face which is blooming awful.

WinsandSam · 09/04/2024 17:07

@hol92 that sounds traumatic!! But will definitely take your advice and get looking. Thanks again x

Lillers · 09/04/2024 20:05

Man the sickness has really ramped up over the last few days. I’m 16 weeks tomorrow, surely it should be easing off? I think I’m throwing up my anti-sickness tablets as well because I take them with breakfast and haven’t been able to keep breakfast down at all for 5 days now.

On the plus side, my bbhugme arrived (I ended up just ordering a brand new one because all the second hand ones I tried to get kept falling through and I was getting desperate!) and not only do I love it, but my cat has made a new home in the travel bag, which is an extra bonus.

OP posts:
PoppingUp · 09/04/2024 20:18

@Lillers does the bbhugme take up a lot of room in the bed? We've only got a standard double and I'm worried it'd be a bit of a tight squeeze but am very much lusting after one in a lovely pattern!

SC126 · 09/04/2024 20:26

@Lillers could you take the tablets first thing as you wake up so they have time to settle before you eat breakfast perhaps?

TripleESept24 · 09/04/2024 20:33

I told my work last week and on Monday they announced it with our scan photos in the weekly update that goes out. They are being super lovely and accomodating about it seen as I have only been there since December!! :)

Xur · 09/04/2024 20:51

I can to be honest echo the tiredness, I’ve been so tired today. I’m already in bed, I feel like I’ve been harvesting potatoes all day long, but nothing of that sorts has happened.

In the last week I can say I had been craving a nap in the afternoon, pretty much every day, after simple activities. Not a nap that I can have, but like needing to lie down and rest for an hour.

@Lillers
Im really sorry I have to say this but I do know someone who was sick through the whole pregnancy. She was never diagnosed with HG, she didn’t speak to the docs about meds, but she was really rough….When she started to have the sickness, which was about week 8-9, it then continued all the way until she was like 7 months pregnant. Regardless of the time of the day, but she did have it in like…waves if I can say like that? She would be having bursts of sickness, like two, three days and then it would stop for several days and come back. The reoccurrence was unexpected. She could be having a fine day, go home, be hungry, have dinner after work and it would all come out and sometimes she told me it all came out so violently it could be anywhere. Same like your soup crime scene special the other day.
For some people it doesn’t really stop flat out.
I really hope it’s not your case, but if I were you I’d be mentally preparing myself for the chance that this sickness might stick around for longer. 😬😕

TripleESept24 · 09/04/2024 21:51

Someone else mentioned taking magnesium citrate? I am taking pregnacare standard multivitamin in the morning, and then I have a magnesium citrate powder in the evening the last two nights. I have half the recommended daily dose as you shouldn't exceed 350mg a day. Do we think this is fine?!

Don't know if it's helping the cramps at night yet or not only second night and it didn't last night all though I fell asleep easier I woke twice with leg cramps before 12.30am!!

Lillers · 09/04/2024 21:51

@PoppingUp I had a cheap pregnancy pillow from Amazon that I’ve been using up to now and that did take up a lot of room in the bed, but the bbhugme fits along me if that makes sense so doesn’t really take up more room than me+bump.

@SC126 I think I’m going to have to. I was doing that originally but the trouble with that is the side effects then come on really strongly, so I end up knocked out for hours. Not too bad this week because I’m off work (Easter holidays) but it’ll be an issue when I’m back at work next week!

@Xur I’m hoping that won’t be me, but I’m aware it could be. That’s how it was for my mum in one of her pregnancies. My sister was ok from about 20 weeks onwards with both of hers, so I’m hoping I’ll be more like her.

@Lillers yeah it's the nuture nest hypnobirthing podcast :) also if you have audible or like a book (I just love to listen and don't have time to read haha) but hypnobirthing by siobhan Miller was great! I do understand why people rave about hypnobirthing so much massively helps with the anxiety around birth x

Had my 16 week midwife appointment today, they don't listen to baby's heartbeat in Norwich 😭

also confirmed all my symptoms of eczema, worsening asthma, thirst, weeing 6 times a night and dry mouth are all normal 😅

This is my first and today I'm feeling wobbly, really anxious about birth. I've always had a fear of birth/preganancy but hormones have made me really chilled. Think reality is hitting home now and I feel a bit low

Please feel free to message me. Ive had two births (first - terrible, second - magical) I’d be happy to share my positive story and what I feel like helped make it that way. I know some of it is a lottery but a large portion is mindset. 💜

Honeyandsunshine1 · 09/04/2024 23:27

I also did this online hypnobirthing course with midwife Marley (I follow her on insta, found her really informative). And it’s one you ssn go through in your own time. Really helped me understand the physiological side of labour, whereas with my first id rather have not known and in hindsight I feel like that was my downfall lol.

highly recommend if anyone is more of a “visual” learner like I am xx

Turns out my login still works 2.5 years later 😂 so I’ll be going through it again to refresh my memory. So deffo perfect for anyone who is planning/thinking of future babies. Best £40 ever spent

LSW82 · 09/04/2024 23:33

Finally found the new thread 🤣
Still feeling really sick, I'm hoping 16 weeks (next week) is a turning point for me - that's what I'm aiming for now but do know it could last longer! Also really tired all the time, been wfh & falling asleep at lunchtime - I always feel so much worse when I wake up though it takes me ages to get going. If the weather would improve I'm sure a bit fresh air or even just sat in the garden might help but it's just raining constantly!!!

rupertbear91 · 10/04/2024 07:30

@Lillers if you need to take antisickness tablets again and the cyclizine are making you tired there are loads of other options out there to try. Cyclizine knocked me out for 14 hours straight each time I took a pill so I had to switch pretty fast!
I'm on xonvea and ondasatron now which don't have a sedating effect

Im not too far out of Norwich either but will be James Paget not n&n

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 10/04/2024 08:35

Well I had my 16 week midwife appt yesterday - she took one look at me as I walked in and said 'do you have a urine sample' and tested it straight away then told me I had 4+ ketones and she was sending me straight in to hospital. Guess I must have looked as bad as I felt 😂

3 bags of fluid and a double dose of ondansetron injected in the butt I managed to finally keep some pasta down lol

Only 24 weeks left of this hell 😅
