Thought I'd make a new thread before the old one filled up completely.

Into the second trimester and beyond 😊

Thanks and welcome @Anxiousheartbeat !

I've been having mild contractions since my third and final sweep earlier so will see if that turns into anything (I suspect not!)

@Mumormummy I bought some 1ml syringes off Amazon (just search colostrum syringes). I found it easiest to express onto a metal spoon and then syringe it up. Then you label the syringe with the date and freeze it. You get much less colostrum than you would milk which is why the 1ml syringes are good - you wouldn't want to defrost more than 1 or 2 at a time anyway. Recommend doing it when relaxed after a nice warm shower! I started at 37 weeks.

Good luck with the contractions! Hope
they progress xx

@Edgeofthesea it's so frustrating isn't it! Are you being induced at all or just waiting it out? Is it your first?

@oop No, it's my 3rd believe it or not! Both my eldest two were born at 41 weeks +, after 4.5 days of pretty regular, albeit mild, contractions, so I'm not surprised that I'm in for the long haul again, although it is a bit mad that I've made it to 42 weeks this time. I'm not really sure what will happen now though as I'm planning a home birth and I don't want an induction, but I think the midwives will probably check in with me tomorrow when I'm officially 42 weeks and want to send me for additional monitoring at the very least. I really hope they'll still support a home birth despite being over 42 weeks, but as far as I understand, they don't have to, so we'll see.

I hope your contractions stay nice and strong now and that everything progresses smoothly for you ❤️

For anyone else wanting exercises to help baby's position, Spinning Babies is the best. They have a paid video for daily balancing exercises and yoga, but also lots of free resources with great information. The Miles Circuit is also good for helping labour progress. Though obviously I'm no expert on speeding up birth, having spent (so far) a total of 11 days of my life slowly labouring 😆

Welcome to newcomers!

Wheeeeee · 08/06/2024 08:55

Good luck today @oop !

Suchardchoccy · 08/06/2024 10:14

@Mumormummy if you ask your midwife she will give you some syringes! I personally find it easier to express into the syringe after massaging breasts for a couple of minutes and using a warm compress for a few minutes before. A warm shower would work too! Then just label and freeze 😊

Suchardchoccy · 08/06/2024 10:16

I also started at 37 weeks with all three of my pregnancies. This time I've been getting loads from my right boob but barely anything from my left

Calypso0 · 08/06/2024 12:39

Hey there,
@Suchardchoccy
I completely understand how you're feeling. I've been in the same position. my midwife recommended using a warm flannel on the breast that's not producing much milk and massaging for a little longer. They suggested being patient and persistent, trying every 3 hours. It can take time for the blocked duct to clear, so hang in there.

Calypso0 · 08/06/2024 12:44

Hey there! I'm currently 40+1 weeks pregnant with my first baby boy, and he's decided to stay put past his due date yesterday. I'm scheduled for a membrane sweep today and really hoping it does the trick. I've been trying to keep active, doing some exercises to encourage labor, and spending lots of time on my gym ball. I've had a few cramps at night, but nothing consistent yet. Fingers crossed that he decides to make his grand entrance soon!

oop · 09/06/2024 07:25

Thanks for the good luck messages! Still no baby here 😭
I didn't get onto the induction ward until evening last night and they've yet to do anything for me except monitoring because the delivery ward is so busy. Just a waiting game unfortunately. I'm now 40+10 and very very done with this pregnancy! Intermittent contractions for weeks and weeks.

How exciting - you are there and baby will be with you soon! Just think how your body has prepared and put the legwork in for weeks so hopefully out the baby pops with a little nudge x

One exercise is to go down and do this/ hold it for a minute or so. Repeat a few times a day. (As in the photo)

another was to get your partner to get an open scarf over your bump (the whole bump), stand behind you and jiggle the scarf from side to side. Gently, but enough that the belly is being wobbled as you’re trying to jiggle baby down.

another is to get down low into a sort of crouch/squat, and “walk” across the room and back a few times like this. One leg is on a knee and the other on a foot and you alternate. Weird slide/ski/shuffle.

the other is to lie on the very edge of a bed on your side (helpful to have someone there so you don’t fall off. You dangle the top leg over the edge. Do this for a few mins on each side.

all of these are to be repeated throughout the day

sorry I am doing my best to explain there aren’t any videos I can find - probably because places like spinning babies want to charge you for this stuff but my midwife showed me for free!

Ahh, yess, I'm familiar with those: my baby was breech and at 39+2 had turned herself (we had scheduled a c-section for that day 🙃).

I did it all 😅

Thank you anyway: I'm going to try walking and doing some yoga to try and make things move a little. Wish me luck! 😅

You got this, @oop ! She'll be here soon 💓💪

Blood tests back have cnfirmed
im
now anaemic - which explains why this time last pregnancy I was hosting bbqs and now I’m just lying down all day feeling sorry for myself.

should really go for a walk like you @MsNeis and feel
so guilty and shit for not but just not sure I can

Suchardchoccy · 09/06/2024 10:20

@oop good luck! Final moments now 💗

MsNeis · 09/06/2024 10:30

@Anxiousheartbeat for the last two days I've been feeling very deflated, just yesterday started walking (also I feel soooo uncomfortable so it's not necessarily a pleasant walk!), so I totally feel you 🙏Try to walk just a little and see how you feel: I did yesterday and was surprised that I could walk more than I imagined. BUT I was very conscious of resting too.

In my results, I also had some alterations with the iron, but they seemed mild and no one mentioned them... but sometimes I question if they should have...
Don't feel guilty at all!! Anemia is no joke! Just take care and be gentle with yourself 💖💐

Feel like I want bubba to come already but also completely terrified of giving birth 🫣😆

Have you read “how to have a baby”?

I am not a huge fan of baby books etc, but after a horrendous first birth I was terrified to do it again and “how to have a baby” utterly changed things for me when I was pregnant with #2

Anxiousheartbeat · 09/06/2024 19:57

anyone hoping and aiming for a Father’s Day birth next Sunday? 😀

If it helps at all, my labour ended up being not at all what we'd hoped for or imagined and entirely without pain relief (by circumstance; not choice!) but still the very second he was out it was all completely worth it.

I also felt like an absolute warrior and a goddess (and 4 days later I still do, even with the maternity pads and the engorged boobs and squishy empty belly) despite having being wailing like a banshee & insisting that I couldn't do it not 30 seconds earlier BlushGrin

Nope I haven’t - I think this time around I’m more confident on what to expect and what I want in terms of birth preferences, especially as the first birth was very traumatic. I guess it’s just knowing what’s going to happen in terms of labor & pain, but the excitement of meeting bubba and coming home 🙏🥹

That does help thank you ☺️- I’m so glad for you! Hoping to have a quick labor this time - last time it was 46hours in total, mental

CheeseWisely · 09/06/2024 20:11

@beaniesunrise 46 hours! Jeepers. We went the opposite way, very manageable contractions that I could even doze through for 12 hours, and then a sudden and very intense pick up in pace and he was delivered a bit less than 4 hours later.

Hoping the very best for you this time! x

Tbf the main point of the book
is to instil confidence and faith re birth - so if you’re feeling more like you’ve got this then you have 💪🏻

@beaniesunrise 46 hours!! That’s crazy!!!! Mine are usually 3-4 hours start to finish so actually very nervous about the opposite/baby coming too quickly or in a bad place 😀
