Thought I'd make a new thread before the old one filled up completely.

Into the second trimester and beyond 😊

I’m 38 weeks today, finished work on Friday (yay!) and have arrived at the hospital for my induction now. I’ve had the first pessary but nothing yet, I was hoping this will be quicker than my first induction which took almost three days but speaking to the dr. here she said because my first one was almost 12 years ago it might be that this will be more like a first baby and not to get my hopes up on the speed of the induction (plus I’m only 38 weeks). It’s Sunday so the hospital is very quiet, just one other lady having an induction today so far. I got through the hospital lunch choices and managed to get a green reading on the gestational diabetes afterwards which I was happy about. I sent my husband home as it’s looking unlikely things will progress quickly. Hope everyone is doing well!

Hope everyone is doing OK ! And maybe there are some fresh new babes!?
I came into labour ward last night for reduced movements over the weekend and they've kept me in for induction 🙌🏽 had the pessary in the night and keeping everything crossed that's all it takes 🤞🏽🤞🏽

Hope all going well @May5th x

Morning! Now 40+2 and still no sign!

Getting bored now as there's only so much I can do in terms of getting out for a walk or whatever before I'm knackered, so it's lots of sitting around with puzzle books and crappy daytime TV!

I have a midwife appointment this afternoon and they've offered a sweep but I've heard nothing good about them so unsure...

I feel the same and im only 37+2 so you must be really fed up. I had a sweep on my due date for DD2 and it worked straight away, she was born 8 hours later. It was uncomfortable but worth it. I've got one booked in for 39+4 this time 🤞🏻 so IME I would go for it, you've got nothing to lose trying it I suppose

Suchardchoccy · 03/06/2024 09:23

@Goldie1234 good luck with the induction!

I'm patiently waiting for news of babies 👶

May5th · 03/06/2024 09:54

Good luck @Goldie1234! no major movements for me yet although I can feel quite a lot of pain and pressure now. I had a shower in the morning which was great. Soon it would’ve been 24 hrs so they will check if the waters can be broken, I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I’ve been walking a lot both yesterday and this morning just up and down the hospital and outside.

Good luck with your induction too @May5th ! I've lost count who's in for inductions now haha

oop · 03/06/2024 10:09

We must have some new babies by now with all these inductions! 😁 Hope it goes well for you all.

I'm 40+4 now and fed up. Sweep on Saturday didn't do anything and I don't have another until Wednesday. Will talk about induction at that appointment too. I feel like I've been on tenterhooks for a month because I've been having false alarms since 37 weeks 😩. And everyone keeps texting me about it and I just want to be like "no obviously I haven't had the baby yet". It's also very hard work with an active 2 year old as I'm huge and really struggling to do anything physical now.

@oop This is why DH and I took the decision (on the advice of a friend) not to tell anyone our due date! We've just said 'first half of June' so haven't been bothered by people chasing, yet!

It's destroying my SIL though, who considers herself boss of the family and all that goes on within it. Not knowing is driving her mad Grin

Ps.. good luck @Goldie1234! Hope things get moving for you soon.

MsNeis · 03/06/2024 11:40

Oh, good luck to everyone who's being induced! 🍀🙏💚Thinking about all the babies that are about to arrive 💕
(Thinking also about @cosylife and her baby 🤗)

I'll be 40 weeks tomorrow and I've been feeling contractions here and there, without any regularity. I can also feel more pressure in my pelvis: I assume it means that baby is positioning herself. Yesterday I felt it more than today, I guess because I'm more used to it today? It's very funny how I walk 😂I guess the only thing I can do now is wait... Should I keep walking? Should I just rest and read? 😅

cosylife · 03/06/2024 12:02

Hey! Oh bless you thank you @MsNeis

We’re doing really well! 9 days old and feeding and sleeping like a dream. Recovering really well from my section and definitely in a newborn bubble at the moment. I hope everyone is well and coping with those final days/weeks as best as possible!

Mountainview8 · 03/06/2024 13:31

Good luck everyone who's in for inductions! It's my due date today and my waters went at 5.10 this morning. I just felt a trickle and my pants were a bit wet, then a bit of blood but not much else but went to get checked out. It was confirmed it my was waters and bloody show, I've had some tightenings but not proper contractions and cervix is closed, so I'm getting bouncing on my ball hoping labour will establish before having to get induced.

DemelzaRobins · 03/06/2024 13:41

I'm also 40+2 today and getting a bit fed up. I have no signs of imminent labour whatsoever - no loss of mucus plug, no braxton hicks even, nothing. 3 people in my NCT class either had their babies early or on their due date. My baby did not get the memo about being timely!

I'm seeing the midwife tomorrow where I will be offered a sweep if baby is engaged (baby wasn't engaged at my 38 week appointment). I'm then back to see the obstetrician on Friday to discuss induction. I assume induction won't be until Monday (41+2) as guessing NHS doesn't induce at weekends unless absolutely necessary e.g. Waters broke 24 hours previously and labour hasn't begun.

For some reason my NHS trust splits maternity care over 4 sites - midwives at satellite hospital A, obstetrician at hospital B, scans at hospital C and birth at hospital D. So, on Friday I will see the obstetrician at hospital B which has no labour ward so assuming they can't induce me there and then.

CheeseWisely · 03/06/2024 13:47

@DemelzaRobins Solidarity for the exact same situation, although the hospital have just called and pushed my Friday appointment to next Monday due to staff sickness.

Ironic as since I'm 40 the consultants have all seemed keen for me to agree to get things moving from 38 weeks, yet now I'm overdue and getting bored they've delayed the appointment 🤷🏻‍♀️

Midwife in a couple of hours so will see what comes of that!

Edgeofthesea · 03/06/2024 14:01

Hi all, thinking of everyone being induced, hoping everything is going to plan 🙏

I'm 41+2 today - saw the midwives yesterday who have no concerns, baby and I are well. They said sweeps don't usually do much unless you're already getting quite close, and I don't think this guy is in a rush! I am pretty huge and uncomfortable now, but induction isn't for me. Baby is also measuring on the 97th centile, like my other two, so I want to let him get into the best position naturally and take his time. I am really looking forward to meeting baby and not being pregnant any more, but I want to let things unfold naturally.

CheeseWisely · 03/06/2024 14:07

@Edgeofthesea I feel the same about sweeps; I've had no signs at all of anything being imminent at the moment, so I don't know what good it would do, and if baby and I are both well I don't see the need to rush him/her at the moment. Granted I may feel differently a week from now!

Suchardchoccy · 03/06/2024 14:34

I've just had my growth scan and she's measuring on the 91st centile and perfect for dates so it was just the measuring tape being inaccurate thankfully.
I didn't get a picture tho unfortunately but at least I got to see her again.
Also picked up the pool while I was at the hospital and the air pump got delivered this morning, just waiting for the tap adaptor and the pipe 🤞🏻 the midwife suggested I inflate it asap but I think my two toddlers will destroy it 😅

I was under obstetrician care due to preexisting conditions. They ordered growth scans as were worried baby would be small.

Turns out baby was 94th centile and breech. They were making a lot of noise about a section at 39 weeks or inducing at 40 weeks so he wouldn't be too big. He then dropped to 88th and then to 72nd and turned head down.

At which point I was discharged from obstetrics. It's a bit unnerving to go from lots of talk about delivery at 38 or 39 weeks to 'yeah, we'll just let you go horribly overdue now'. So, I feel your pain.

Good luck with the midwife today!

glasshalffull0 · 03/06/2024 20:03

How exciting that some of you are so close to meeting your babies! I'm due on the 30th June so she literally couldn't be due any later in the month!

Have any of you had oral thrush throughout pregnancy? I woke up this morning and most of my tongue is white and my mouth was very dry. I'm really embarrassed about it too even though I know its probably just another pregnancy thing! Now I'm worried about passing it on to the baby through breastfeeding but I'm also worried about if it will impact her if I treat it too!

Edgeofthesea · 03/06/2024 20:38

@CheeseWisely Yes, I also hope neither of us are still waiting in a week! The only thing I'm trying to do to encourage baby is walk as much as I can, but it's pretty uncomfortable now 😛 Are you managing to stay active?

@Suchardchoccy That's so exciting! We did a test run of our pool in the evening a few weeks ago, my two boys also would have destroyed it had we left it out 😂 Apparently it'll take about an hour to fill too and now I'm a bit worried that we should have tried out filling it, but I'm sure we'll manage...

@DemelzaRobins Glad to hear you've been discharged! I'm sure it must feel weird, but ultimately reassuring that they've checked everything out and found there's no cause for concern 💕

DanisEndo · 03/06/2024 20:40

It’s only taken till 36 and a half weeks but I’ve finally done my hospital bag! Having some well deserved dinner then putting baby girls together.

@glasshalffull0 defo mention to your midwife if you’re seeing them soon, if not maybe pharmacy? Or GP? I’m sure it’s perfectly normal and “just one of those pregnant things” like you say but best to get their thoughts on whether best to treat now or wait, and they’ll be able to put your mind at ease hopefully.

so strange seeing so many being induced and sweeps and sections - it feels like all this has honestly gone so quickly.

Suchardchoccy · 03/06/2024 21:17

@Edgeofthesea well DH has inflated it this evening and we've left it out, it's had a bit of attention but they haven't had enough time to properly investigate it yet 😂 yeah it does say it takes a while to fill up I hope I don't have any false alarms or that could be annoying if we start filling it and it's not proper labour

Suchardchoccy · 03/06/2024 21:26

I've got my birth affirmations and I'm waiting for my fairy lights to arrive

Due June 24 💚 - Part 2
Elmlee · 04/06/2024 07:25

Good morning ladies.
I'm delighted to say our beautiful little girl arrived this morning at 11:53 pm!
It wasn't as plain sailing as first induction. Happy to message people privately if people want to know.just enjoying our newborn bubble 🥰🥰🩷

CheeseWisely · 04/06/2024 07:36

Congratulations @Elmlee!! 💕

Pretty sure I had a few Braxton hicks in the night so hoping that's a good sign that he or she is getting ready to move!

Probably hormonal but I ended up getting myself in a bit of a state last night as we've not quite settled on names yet and I'm worried that it's going to be even harder to decide when baby is here! It feels like such a big thing to get right Confused
