Thought I'd make a new thread before the old one filled up completely.

Into the second trimester and beyond 😊

Have my 12 week scan tomorrow (at 11+6 by my calculations an early scan) and definitely have scanxiety! Even though it has only been two weeks since I seen baby wiggling around.

Catson · 05/12/2023 11:05

I do wonder if I should book a private scan for next week just to make it a bit sooner but then I'm like no, just wait it out. So hard. Hope your scan goes well @GeeinItLaldyX

Wheeeeee · 05/12/2023 11:10

I've got my 12 week scan on Friday and after a scare yesterday my anxiety is rearing up. We told a few family members at the weekend, which was great when we needed emergency childcare yesterday, but they're soooo excited which is lovely but making me even more nervous.

VJ88 · 05/12/2023 11:13

Had a reassurance scan this morning. I'm 10+1 or 10+2, and baby was measuring exactly 10+2, we saw them having a little wriggle and heard the heartbeat for the first time. The sonographer said the placenta is starting to form so I might expect to see a change in symptoms in the coming few weeks. They also said there is usually a big growth spurt between 10 and 12 weeks. Next scan is in 13 days.

@Catson I know what you mean about the scanxiety. I've been so nervous in the build up to today. We've had three losses (two early one late) and I was so convinced I would walk in to bad news this morning. When I start to worry I just keep trying to remind myself that I have nothing to indicate that things aren't going to plan. "Pregnant until proven otherwise" is what I've been telling myself.

Catson · 05/12/2023 12:57

Pleased your scan went well @VJ88, it's always a relief. I had an early loss during covid before we conceived our little one, but because it was covid they wouldn't see me so it's not officially recorded anywhere

Goldie1234 · 05/12/2023 13:00

I'm 11+3 and noticed my bump for the first time yesterday!! My mum had mentioned it to me at the weekend and I thought she was just being silly ha it is getting harder to find anything comfy to wear..

My scan is next Thurs at 12+5 and I'm totally bricking it, wish I'd booked a little private scan. Nausea is up and down now, I quite liked the reassurance of it all the time, but making the most of being able to get off the sofa and cook etc

@LavenderJoy love that you're a frozen transfer, it just makes me think they'll be super siblings haha like twins ! We only managed 1 embryo through IVF and very luckily she was my gorgeous daughter! No little frozen siblings stored away !

@Ad12345678 I've been classed as high risk too, but at my booking appointment my midwife said I might still be able to choose midwife led suite..

Congrats to everyone who's had their 12 week scans and good luck to the ones coming up !

MizzMarple · 05/12/2023 14:25

Just placemarking! I have my 12 week scan the end of next week but I’ve had 3 scans so far for various reasons so hopefully it’ll be ok.

El1988 · 05/12/2023 14:32

Also joining and place marking! @Catson - definitely not just you - I have my second scan next week (should be 11 plus 2/3) and I’m terrified they’ll tell me something is wrong…

the constant nausea is reassuring, together with the tiredness… but after the mmc in July I’m struggling to think it will all be fine..

hope everyone is doing well and managing ok with the nausea… it really is a struggle…

MsNeis · 05/12/2023 15:05

Hi everyone! Thanks for creating the new thread. I haven't been commenting much and it's a combination of being busy with a 3yo and not believing the blessing of being waiting for number 2 😊
Today I'm 14 weeks, according to the "corrected" calculation of my OB (baby measured 4 days ahead). I had my first official scan two weeks ago and everything was ok with the baby. I chose to have a genetic test done for a medium risk for Down Syndrome, and I'm waiting for the results.
Some days I really can't believe I'm pregnant, just as many other of you have said 😅Of course there is fear, and reading some sad stories in the previous thread always bring it at the front of my mind, but in general I would say I'm doing fine managing my anxiety.
As for the bump: I'm classed as obese (though I have my weight well distributed and some people would say I'm just "a Germanic woman" 😂) and I have a considerable tummy, BUT in the past week I feel my bump has exploded! I'm reading here lots of you who say that it's your second pregnancy and have a bump like in the 5th month of your first one: well let me join the club, and I'm glad I'm not alone! 😆

Mumormummy · 05/12/2023 17:33

joining new thread - thanks for starting it!

currently 10w+3.
still feel exhausted with constant nausea and some actual sickness!

other than that everything seems ok so far, I did however fall down the stairs last week. Really scared me, I had a good cry and spoke to maternity triage who reassured me and said I only needed to go get checked if any bleeding or abdo pain, luckily no to both just a rather sore back!!

Hope you are all doing ok x

DemelzaRobins · 05/12/2023 19:28

I've also been classed as high risk, I have a rare genetic disorder and a few other long term conditions including asthma. Seeing the obstetrician soon but my midwife said I may still have the midwife led birthing unit as an option, depending on what the obstetrician says and how the pregnancy progresses.

Joining with EDD 20/6 - dating scan is next week so trying to stay hopeful that all is well. Anyone else feel that pregnancy loss robs you of joy in the first trimester? My heart is guarded.

Oh absolutely. I had a miscarriage earlier this year and also previously had an ectopic.

I couldn't relax at all until after my 12 week scan a few weeks ago. I was so anxious on the morning of the scan I could barely function.

I hope all goes well for your scan next week.

bravinglife · 05/12/2023 20:01

@DemelzaRobins Thank you. So sorry to hear about your previous losses, time seems to slow down whilst waiting for the first scan and reassurance that all is well. My first pregnancy was a MMC during Covid so I was on my own for the scans, I will likely be all over the place next week too. Hope you’re feeling more able to relax into your pregnancy now 🙂

bravinglife · 05/12/2023 20:09

@oop that’s great you had a positive dating scan, congrats!

I know what you mean about the bump second time around, I can see a firm upwards bulge that isn’t just the white bread and salty crisps I’ve lived on for weeks now 😅

mamahg · 05/12/2023 21:06

Following! Due 25/05/24, second pregnancy and terrified of giving birth 😭

Suchardchoccy · 05/12/2023 22:18

@mmamahg this is my third and I'm also terrified 😭

sinmiedo · 06/12/2023 07:42

Joining to follow and continue lurking 😂. Due 3/6 with my first

babyp2024 · 06/12/2023 09:27

@LavenderJoy mine is a FET too, and i had my 12 week scan yesterday and the hospital said they will go off of the IVF due date as it is more accurate! I am only measuring a day ahead so it wouldn't make any difference anyway i guess! EDD according to hospital is 14/6 but IVF due date is 15/6 ❤

babyp2024 · 06/12/2023 09:30

hi everyone, we had our 12 week scan yesterday at 12+3 (due 15th june!)
when did everyone get to hear the heartbeat for the first time? we haven't heard it on any scans we've had yet :(

Ad12345678 · 06/12/2023 10:30

Hi all, just got the NIPT results back. All is good and it’s a little boy in there. I’m so relieved. Will tell family today. My first hospital scan is in 2 weeks

Catson · 06/12/2023 10:47

@babyp2024 I haven't had any scans yet but with my first it was at the 16 week midwife appointment. They don't always look for it at 16 weeks though as it's still hard to locate at that point

Catson · 06/12/2023 10:49

Great news @Ad12345678. My scan is 2 weeks too, seems so far away

Suchardchoccy · 06/12/2023 11:57

@Ad12345678 good news! So you have a little boy and I have a little girl! We must be the first on here to know the sex 🤣

DanisEndo · 06/12/2023 13:52

Hey everyone, looking for some reassurance here…. Feeling so many abdominal aches and twinges. Not had any bleeding but the pains do give me a little worry.. this is my first - is this normal? I have endometriosis so scarring from multiple surgeries and endo tissue so I’m hoping it’s just tugging and shifting of my uterus irritating everything. But anyone else relating???

Catson · 06/12/2023 14:03

@DanisEndo yes I remember with my first I got a lot of pains and twinges etc, and often almost stitch like feeling too. It should just be your uterus and muscles expanding. They call it round ligament pain if you want to Google to compare. But to be honest if it's making you anxious there's absolutely no harm calling your midwife to double check. They will be very used to it and always best for peace of mind
