Thought I'd make a new thread before the old one filled up completely.

Into the second trimester and beyond 😊

Ahhhh massive love and congrats @Mountainview8 and @CheeseWisely. Sorry things weren’t as planned Cheese but glad all are well and you’re able to enjoy the special time now 💗

it all seems so close and real and scary now seeing so many babies arriving after so long of all getting excited together.

Any tips from those who are now enjoying mum life for us still anxiously waiting??

MizzMarple · 06/06/2024 17:25

Congratulations on all the babies! So many born in the last few days.

CBM40 · 07/06/2024 03:09

Congratulations to everyone who's had their babies so far. Another to add. I had my little girl last night at 2255 following induction. And after months of growth scans she weighed in at a whopping 8lb the biggest of my 3 !!! Good luck to everybody over the next few weeks 💐💐

oop · 07/06/2024 08:49

Congrats @Mountainview8 and @CBM40 !!

I'm being induced tomorrow at 41 + 2. It got moved ahead a day because of reduced movements and I'm in for monitoring today. Can't believe I was due in May and I'm still here a week into June 😂🙄

Congratulations to all the new mamas! 🎊🥳

I started getting random menstrual like cramping in my lower abdomen at 4am this morning, it randomly comes and goes. Not sure if they’re braxton hicks or early signs of labour?

Wheeeeee · 07/06/2024 09:17

Ooh so many new babies 😍 congratulations @PurpleIsTheColour @CheeseWisely @Mountainview8 and @CBM40 !!

can't lie I'm getting pretty impatient and I'm only 38 weeks!

Wheeeeee · 07/06/2024 09:20

@beaniesunrise could be prodromal labour - I had that for several nights before 'proper' labour kicked in with my first. My midwife has said basically if it tails off it's prodromal, if it ramps up it's the real thing 😂 so really there's no way of telling except to wait and see!

Suchardchoccy · 07/06/2024 09:43

Congratulations to everyone who have got their babies 🥰

@Wheeeeee me too 😭 I'm 38 weeks tomorrow

oop · 07/06/2024 09:48

@beaniesunrise agree it could be labour or it could go on and off for ages. I've been having prodromal labour for 4 weeks 😩 On and off every few days

Ahhh I’m also 38weeks! Not sure if I lost my mucus plug this morning in the shower either. Feeling really achy in my lower abdomen like baby has dropped very low.. fingers crossed it becomes something as much as I’m scared, really don’t want it to go on 🤣

Edgeofthesea · 07/06/2024 13:43

Another sufferer of long slow labour here - I've been losing mucous plug for the last 2 days and having regular contractions but they tailed off last night. I'm 42 weeks tomorrow and fed up. I also don't want to have to leave home when I know things are progressing (albeit slowly) just to have monitoring or get "signed off" for a post-term home birth. It's a matter of hours or days at this point, so I'm not concerned about hitting 42 weeks, but the midwives will want to check in and come up with a plan, which just seems like an unnecessary distraction...

oop · 07/06/2024 13:53

@Edgeofthesea it's so frustrating isn't it! Are you being induced at all or just waiting it out? Is it your first?

Congratulations, @CBM40 😍💐🙏
Best of luck tomorrow, @oop : I hope it goes smoothly for you and your baby 🤗🍀🙏💖
@beaniesunrise It definitely seems to be prodromal labour, as a PP has said: I've been having it for days now 😅Mostly at nights, and then some during the day, very irregular, just like menstrual cramps that come and go.

Suchardchoccy · 07/06/2024 15:43

Good luck @oop for tomorrow 🥰

Anxiousheartbeat · 07/06/2024 15:58

I wanted to join please because I’m 39 weeks today with baby number 4 - usually I’m always a week late to give birth and I am so much more tired and irritated this time around I can’t bear another 2 weeks just wanted to come and moan with other people!

Im
pleased for you though because you’re 42 weeks so you know the baby is a-coming!

Is the baby in a good position? I had prodomol labour with #3 and it turned out his head was a bit stuck so we did a few exercises given by the midwife and he shifted a little and then labour could begin in earnest!

Ohh, @Anxiousheartbeat that sounds interesting! Could you share some of these exercises? Are they like yoga poses or walking? Or something more specific? I'd be really interested!

Welcome, by the way! Pregnant with your fourth: congratulations!! 😍💐

There are about 4 exercises in general (it was 2 years ago so can’t remember well).

let me google and see if I can find.

they were very strange eg partner shuffles a scarf along your tummy, you shuffling along the floor etc

Anxiousheartbeat · 07/06/2024 17:00

One exercise is to go down and do this/ hold it for a minute or so. Repeat a few times a day. (As in the photo)

another was to get your partner to get an open scarf over your bump (the whole bump), stand behind you and jiggle the scarf from side to side. Gently, but enough that the belly is being wobbled as you’re trying to jiggle baby down.

another is to get down low into a sort of crouch/squat, and “walk” across the room and back a few times like this. One leg is on a knee and the other on a foot and you alternate. Weird slide/ski/shuffle.

the other is to lie on the very edge of a bed on your side (helpful to have someone there so you don’t fall off. You dangle the top leg over the edge. Do this for a few mins on each side.

all of these are to be repeated throughout the day

sorry I am doing my best to explain there aren’t any videos I can find - probably because places like spinning babies want to charge you for this stuff but my midwife showed me for free!

Mumormummy · 07/06/2024 17:40

Hi,
sorry I’ve hardly posted in here, congratulations to all the arrivals so far!!

I am 37+2, feels like I’ve been pregnant forever.

wanting some advice on colostrum harvesting please, this is new to me as wasn’t something I’d heard of when I had my daughter 9 years ago.
Anyway, we had a very difficult short breastfeeding journey and I’d like to have more success this time. Colostrum harvesting sounds like a good idea so I have something for baby incase we struggle again.
when did you start doing it if you did?
I have got 2 sterile syringes I found in my work bag (I work in a GP practice) so thinking if I sterilise a bottle I could have an attempt with these 2? Is it literally easy as just hand express, label and freeze until needed?

any help would be greatly welcomed, thanks ☺️

oop · 07/06/2024 18:07

Thanks and welcome @Anxiousheartbeat !

I've been having mild contractions since my third and final sweep earlier so will see if that turns into anything (I suspect not!)

@Mumormummy I bought some 1ml syringes off Amazon (just search colostrum syringes). I found it easiest to express onto a metal spoon and then syringe it up. Then you label the syringe with the date and freeze it. You get much less colostrum than you would milk which is why the 1ml syringes are good - you wouldn't want to defrost more than 1 or 2 at a time anyway. Recommend doing it when relaxed after a nice warm shower! I started at 37 weeks.

Mumormummy · 07/06/2024 18:24

Thank you, I’ll try with the 2 I already have then order some more from Amazon.
how many did you take with you to hospital?

we’re given colostrum kits here in Ireland to express, don’t know if it’s the case in the UK? There’s quite a big focus on it here. They recommend from 37 weeks onwards. I’m 37wks today and just tried for the first time. I got two tiny drops from one side and none from the other but I think that’s normal enough so don’t be discouraged if not much comes out the first few times. There’s lots of videos online on how to do it. Best of luck!
