A very close friend of mine is preparing to get pregnant for the forth time, she has 3 gorgeous girls and is desperate for a boy, she wanted a boy each time and although she has always wanted 4 kids she intends to find out with an early gender test (2 different types to be as sure as she can be) then a cvs to confirm it, she says she will abort if it is not a boy.
she is a very lovely woman, she is a great mum to her girls but she is so depressed at the thought of never having a son.
I am so sad about her plan, it is heartbreaking because I know she will do it and she will have to live with the guilt if she goes ahead with it. she will do it all privately, I have tried to encourage her to go to look into sex selection abroad but she says she doesn't have the money....

I won't dump her as a friend, I just can't believe what she is about to do

Its about quality of life. And many disabled children have a high quality of life we all know that when we see them we all wish for them that they had all the abilities other non disabled children have. Who wouldnt wish that for a child who is disabled?
However, choosing whether or not to bring a child into the world with a disability is completely different for each case and each set of parents. You cant catagorise which abortions are wrong and which arent because its up to if the parents can cope and what the problem would be.
But this is my main point. Being the gender your mother doesnt want is NOT a disability.
Its just bad luck. And its sadder than any other abortion reason.
Lets keep this thread on the original topic girls and not go off on one about pro life and so on.
Thats my two pence worth, and I stand by it.

(sorry, I meant 'And many disabled children have a high quality of life, BUT we all know...) etc.
Thanks.

If you notice, I'd written perfect like this 'perfect', I personally know people (and family) who have children with disabilities and believe their children are perfect. You're right ThePFJ, the subject of this thread is aborting because of the 'wrong' sex which is imo very upsetting.

There is a company called Genselect that harnesses all the natural things that favour the conception of each sex. It has a 96% success rate and money back garantee! It is not cheep but it does not cost the earth either.

It is so easy to become obsessed with this issue. The statistics say that there are quite a few people that do what your friend is planning and they tend to do it in secret just like she is.

Maybe it could offer her the hope to stop her doing this.
