Pregnancy

5 weeks today! Sep 23 Thread

Hi all, I found out I am expecting my second baby on Wednesday, and I'm 5 weeks today. Early days, but wanted to start a thread for those with similar due dates so we can go through the motions together. ☺️
I'm due 10th September. My little boy will be 2 and 3 quarters by then, so a good little age gap.

Any anxieties? For me, less so about the pregnancy this time around, far more chill. My anxiety is surrounding timing. Baby 2 wasn't planned for just now, but a happy surprise and very much wanted. However, the most instrumental career opportunity for me is coming up in the next 2-4 months or so, and I was hoping to get this role. It may or may not have come off anyway, but I don't want my pregnancy to be the determining factor (I don't think my company would outwardly discriminate, but they might find a 'business reason' I wasn't successful), so I ideally need to keep my pregnancy hidden from work for as long as possible. If I get the role, I will have no worries in taking Mat leave around August and return next year, as I know I'll do a damn good job for them once I'm back, and for the foreseeable future. Anyway... that's my one thing at the mo! ☺️

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

@PPop I have had the same thought - but I've also had a scan so I know it to be just BLOAT 🤣

@HattieRosa well that is reassuring 😂 no one warns you of these early symptoms! I also have the worst fatigue, I was watching the tv earlier and just fell asleep. This is a recurring theme. DH is always finding me sleeping these days!

@HattieRosa definitely, it’s a relief to know you’re not alone with it all.

Haha, we had a convo a few weeks ago because most of our friends have just had babies or are due soon and the boys were so shocked to find out that we may actually 💩during birth. Now he considers the farting and burping as nothing 🤣

oh that sounds lovely, fingers crossed for you it holds out. Now I can’t stop thinking about all the pizzas and pastas!

@PPop I've been napping a lot this weekend but I'm back to work early tomorrow so 😴 might fall asleep at my desk instead!
The first time I heard about the pooping I was also shocked 😲 but I have resigned myself that I will probably be a member of that club 🤣🤣

@ppop @HattieRosa sorry I’ve taken so long to reply I’ve messed the chain up!

wow 8 times! 😮 yeah mine is really hard too. It seems to be a bit better when I wake but as the day goes on it gets bigger and harder and I feel more uncomfortable. I read that smaller, more frequent meals can help the bloat, so it probably isn’t great that I’m eating massive main meals and nothing else. I just find if I start snacking I don’t stop because I am quite hungry at the mo!

@SFCM the pizza and pasta are all I've been thinking of for weeks! Fingers crossed I feel fine 🤞🤞

@SFCM @HattieRosa I already know I'm having a c section due to breaking my back 10 years ago (well really it was a fracture but the pressure will be horrendous apparently so it was recommended and why take risks to end up having an emergency?!) so I'm hopefully not gonna poop during birth...
Yes 8 times, it's very embarrassing! I'm the same I only work 2 days in the office but struggle to stay awake, I need caffeine more then ever but am trying to stay under the 200mg recommended!! 😂

@SFCM I've been eating prunes with my breakfast to try to shift things along. Hasn't worked so far. Baths definitely help though, or try giving your belly a gentle massage.

@PPop the caffeine thing is an issue! I don't really care about the wine, but I do need my coffee!

@PPop @HattieRosa

oh wow, can’t imagine a broken back. It sounds very painful 😣 I knew someone who’d previously broken their coccyx so had to have a planned c-section and she said it made it so much easier, even mentally just knowing what was going to happen.

I’ve always needed a lot of sleep so haven’t noticed anything more than usual but I am missing drinking coffee. I’ve ordered some decaf pods but they’re held up somewhere and I’m feeling irrationally annoyed by it!

thank you, think I’m gonna have to try the prunes soon. I have been massaging a bit but it can be quite tender at times with all the wind. I googled whether a hot water bottle was allowed and that helped. I literally Google everything for reassurance now 😂

PPop · 15/01/2023 21:57

@SFCM is decaf coffee like real coffee in taste? I may have to see if they do costa ones for my machine! I have got decaf tea and am more of a tea person but wondering if I can trick my brain 😂

@HattieRosa I keep forgetting to say ohh I hope you don't get the morning sickness get you before Rome! All that food 🤤

Report
SFCM · 15/01/2023 22:12

@PPop honestly I can’t taste the difference but I’m not into stronger/darker coffees anyway so I’m probably not the best judge. Not tried costa but I’ve accidentally been given decaf at Starbucks before and wouldn’t have known if it wasn’t for the label they put on it.
I’ve always liked Yorkshire teabags for the strength and I’m really struggling with decaf teabags. I’ve tried a couple of brands and I just find them all a bit watery so I’m still working on that one 😂

PPop · 15/01/2023 22:30

@SFCM I tried Yorkshire tea decaf and it wasn't too horrendous! I'm way more of a tea drinker but I will definitely miss my morning vanilla latte (the only coffee I have in a day) mind you with all the pooping might be best off coffee for a bit 😂

DH already bought me a pregnancy pillow and I must admit it's amazing! He was concerned about my back so I said it might not be a bad shout the next thing there was me snuggled up into it in bed...

So confused and feeling a-bit deflated woke up at 4am and went toilet and when I wiped there was blood all the bad things went through my head went back to bed and got up not long ago and nothing there now? I'm 6 weeks today can this be normal or should I prepare for the worst?

@elleh2023 hi im sorry you’re probably feeling worried and anxious. Unfortunately nobody can give you a definitive answer but wanted to share my story as it’s hopeful. I had spotting for 6 days with my daughter when I was 6 weeks. I went for a scan at 6 weeks told all looks normal but come back in 7 days. Longest 7 days of my life as I was spotting throughout. The blood was bright red and some small teeny clot like things. To this day we have no idea why but I have a bouncing 16 month old now! Anyway not every tale is the same but spotting can be very normal. If you want peace of mind ask your GP to refer you to EPU.
good luck. I hope it all works out

I've got something called cervical ectropian, so have been warned this won't be my first bleed during the pregnancy but apparently it won't harm the baby. Got to go back at 6pm tonight for a scan but so far all is okay x

Hi everyone

I recently found out im pregnant with baby number 2! The support from the Mumsnet group/fbook group I am part of for my first baby has been invaluable so I really wanted to join another thread this time around. Hope everyone is doing well! I think I'm due around 19th Sept but have an early scan booked for 12th Feb to confirm.

He's 20 months and very active so I'm sure this pregnancy will be quite different to the last already! How old is your first child @Pinklilly? I'm looking forward to the scan, desperate to know all is well.

@Bleubird oh what a lovely age! My daughter is 16 months so will be 25 months when baby arrives hopefully.
I agree that this pregnancy will be very different.
I think I’m going to book an early scan for 4/2/23 but it feels so far away! I thought this time would feel less worrying. Helps to have others going through the same thing.
