Pregnancy
5 weeks today! Sep 23 Thread
RosyCheeks93 · 07/01/2023 15:24
Hi all, I found out I am expecting my second baby on Wednesday, and I'm 5 weeks today. Early days, but wanted to start a thread for those with similar due dates so we can go through the motions together. ☺️
I'm due 10th September. My little boy will be 2 and 3 quarters by then, so a good little age gap.
Any anxieties? For me, less so about the pregnancy this time around, far more chill. My anxiety is surrounding timing. Baby 2 wasn't planned for just now, but a happy surprise and very much wanted. However, the most instrumental career opportunity for me is coming up in the next 2-4 months or so, and I was hoping to get this role. It may or may not have come off anyway, but I don't want my pregnancy to be the determining factor (I don't think my company would outwardly discriminate, but they might find a 'business reason' I wasn't successful), so I ideally need to keep my pregnancy hidden from work for as long as possible. If I get the role, I will have no worries in taking Mat leave around August and return next year, as I know I'll do a damn good job for them once I'm back, and for the foreseeable future. Anyway... that's my one thing at the mo! ☺️
Looking forward to hearing from you all.

@Nay123 try not to panic about symptoms. A lot of people don't even know they are pregnant at that stage due to not having many symptoms. I think at that time I only had slightly sore boobs/a bit of dizzyness and breathlessness. My nausea didn't kick in until 6 1/2 weeks and I didn't start actually being sick until 7 or 8 weeks x

@PCOSunfortunately you can mention to the docs as pregnancy is a known trigger for sciatica, but they're not great at knowing how to treat it! I've had it for years and the best way is prevention and the stretches, once it's bad it's very hard to do much about it, at least with pregnancy most people feel better after the baby is delivered, but definitely do the stretches now! It'll help
Docs usually would just refer to a physio if you're lucky and maybe painkillers which are no use when you've got baby inside anyway... also keep moving that helps, walks, swimming, gentle exercise, maybe yoga anything stretchy! 😂

Had our 10 week scan this week and it was so lovely to see how the baby had grown. We saw it’s little arms and legs and they pointed out where the placenta was starting to take over. We videoed the little heartbeat, So amazing. Feel a bit more reassured but will still be happier once we have our 12 week scan in 2 weeks!
Currently struggling to eat all my dinner, I get through about 1/4 and I’m stuffed. I think little and often is the key. Annoying though when you’ve fancied something all day then can’t eat much of it 🙈

So glad everything is okay for you @PBandJs baby looks like a proper little baby now 🥰
I've just been for my blood tests and to hand my urine sample in from my midwife appointment on Wednesday. I'm finding myself needing a wee a lot but not big wees. I also get lower back pain and pain in my left bum cheek. I'm sure if I had an infection this will be picked up on my urine sample won't it? TMI but I had globs of yellowish like discharge today but I've read this can be down to the pregnancy vitamins 🤷♀️ what a minefield pregnancy is xxxx
I have just had a urine sample results that say I have a UTI and need antibiotics. I have the same lower back pain but no other uti symptoms. I was even able to empty some of my bladder but not all of it during my 12 week scan so they could see better. How can I have a uti and do that??

Thanks ladies. My boob tenderness has gone down this morning is this normal? I was a 10 weeks yesterday. So not sure if things are going south or whether people say you lose your symptoms about 10 weeks as the placenta starts to take over 🤷♀️ forever worrying 🤦🏼♀️

@PCOSunfortunately omg same situation, woke up and I don't feel that pregnant, boobs don't feel that sore and morning sickness is definitely less. I'm almost 11 weeks. I do think it was around this time sickness subsided in my first pregnancy. I am sure it's the placenta doing it's thing
Daisy0909 · 27/02/2023 09:08
@PCOSunfortunately I felt like that the other day but then by the evening they were sore again, I think it's common at this stage for symptoms to fluctuate. I had 2 days of no nausea which was amazing and then it came back yesterday. I was exactly the same though I started to worry x

@PCOSunfortunately I had this! my boobs had grown a bit and we’re feeling very full (was v excited as they are usually so small) and then at 10 weeks suddenly shrunk to pre-pregnancy size. I was so upset haha and also worried but it’s normal, it’s the placenta taking over and HCG levels dropping. My exhaustion also eased a bit
now 11+6 and they have got a little bit bigger and are sore again. Also weirdly nausea hasn’t been too much of a problem for me but I’m the last week it’s got so much worse, and digestion issues too, I have no appetite and last night couldn’t sleep because of the heartburn. So weird to have some symptoms ease and others get worse but like PP said fluctuation is normal
12 week scan tomorrow so nervous 😱😱😱

Hello everyone joining a little late on this thread hope that's ok - I'm currently 11 weeks and due my 12 week scan on Friday.
We tried for a couple of years after our first and had a loss at 8/9 weeks in our journey. Just a year later we began fertility treatment, and after our latest round of IVF we had a positive.
Look forward to hearing your journeys over the next months!

Congratulations everybody, hope it's ok to hop on this thread.
I am 11 weeks pregnant with my second, my little girl is 17 months. Dating scan is next week, think I'm due around 18th.
I found this a really supportive space last time so excited to hopefully have so pregnancy pals here again!
Lhdale · 27/02/2023 15:55
@primhutch welcome!
Has anybody here experienced round ligament pain yet (or in previous pregnancies)?. I just coughed when sitting down and for the first time I had this sudden acute cramping feeling in both sides of my lower abdomen. Went away after a few seconds. I hope it is indeed round ligament pain rather than my cough triggering actual cramps?!
