Pregnancy

5 weeks today! Sep 23 Thread

Hi all, I found out I am expecting my second baby on Wednesday, and I'm 5 weeks today. Early days, but wanted to start a thread for those with similar due dates so we can go through the motions together. ☺️
I'm due 10th September. My little boy will be 2 and 3 quarters by then, so a good little age gap.

Any anxieties? For me, less so about the pregnancy this time around, far more chill. My anxiety is surrounding timing. Baby 2 wasn't planned for just now, but a happy surprise and very much wanted. However, the most instrumental career opportunity for me is coming up in the next 2-4 months or so, and I was hoping to get this role. It may or may not have come off anyway, but I don't want my pregnancy to be the determining factor (I don't think my company would outwardly discriminate, but they might find a 'business reason' I wasn't successful), so I ideally need to keep my pregnancy hidden from work for as long as possible. If I get the role, I will have no worries in taking Mat leave around August and return next year, as I know I'll do a damn good job for them once I'm back, and for the foreseeable future. Anyway... that's my one thing at the mo! ☺️

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

@SFCM I've been feeling like that too and it's very disconcerting! I saw the Dr today because I was also having shoulder pain so began to worry. He said all the aches were normal.

Hi all may I join this thread. I’ve got a 16 month old daughter still breastfeeding (averages 4 times a day on days I’m home) 2 times days I’m not.
this is our first month ttc baby number 2 and I believe we have a bfp. I feel a bit nervous as today is period due date and test isn’t as dark as I thought it would be!
also with my daughter my sense of smell was so heightened but atm nothing. Feel a little excited but also worried. Hopefully tests darken.

Hello! I've posted on the other chat but wanted to introduce myself here too!

I had a BFP using cheapies on Friday and tried a Clear Blue this morning 🥳 massive shock as we've been trying for 18 months and were about to start IVF but so so happy!

No major symptoms here yet, just feeling tired and some pulling/stretching in my stomach 🤞🏻

Anyone else feeling like the pulling/stretching feeling just gets a bit more intense from time to time?
I have never found it full on pain just sometimes it feels more intense. My bloat is horrendous!

100% every day I'm getting these feelings but it's not bad pain I guess, I can't fit in any of my jeans and I don't know what I'm
Going to do about my work trousers 🤣

I think it's such a strange feeling as before I'd got pregnant I'd always kinda thought any sensations were bad... I got that way way wrong! It does make me a little anxious though.

@Sadiexox it has to be a good thing right? The whole body prepping so much and how exhausted I am!
My sister has recently had two MC all in one year (I haven't told her yet) so I think I worry worry worry!

Hi all - I am 6 weeks today so Sep 23 baby, this will be my second, my son will be 2.5 when baby #2 comes. Anyone else had hardly any symptoms so far? I have a bit of bloating but that’s about it. Had quite a bit of morning sickness first time round at this point so not sure whether to be worried.

@Chinup90 I am also 6 weeks today, and my son will also be (almost) 2.5 in September! My symptoms are really really minimal. The odd wave of nausea, but barely anything at the moment. I was really lucky in my first pregnancy symptom-wise too, so I am trying to stay relaxed about it all.

Congrats to everyone!

In the same boat, how are you feeling about having a toddler and a baby? I am excited but also scared!

Glad to know that I am not the only one with minimal symptoms, all the hormones make me overthink everything 😂

@Chinup90 i tested positive yesterday so very early (suspect 4 weeks pregnant), my daughter will be 25 months when baby 2 arrives hopefully (I hate saying that but just felt like saying 2 is a bit broad). With my daughter I had hyperemesis gravidarum and at this point I had a very heightened sense of smell and nausea. Right now I feel nothing! No symptoms at all- don’t know whether to worry or not.
im still breastfeeding my daughter so perhaps my body is just used to being a hormonal mess! Who knows. But glad your experience seems different just shows that no one pregnancy is the same.

@Chinup90 Absolutely terrified 🤣 But also excited. My little one is all about mummy. Doesn’t play independently all that much, isn’t a big fan of me leaving the room, has to be cuddled to sleep etc etc. I’m not sure how he’s going to feel about the competition for my attention 😬 But equally, it’s another 8 months away, and from experience an awful lot can change in 8 months!

It’s so odd that pregnancies can be so different, thought this time around I would know what to expect but no such luck.

Glad I am not the only one, my little one loves to be centre of attention, he is the first child & grandchild on both sides so never had to share the limelight.

You are very right though a lot can change in 7/8 months so hopefully our littles will be ok sharing us.

@PPop @HattieRosa thank you, I think my mind has just run away with me. It’s quite intense which I think is making me on edge, but I guess when you think about it we’re preparing for something pretty remarkable so I guess it’s to be expected that there’s some adjustments to be made space-wise!

@Sadiexox The bloat is unreal! Yesterday evening it was so uncomfortable and it felt like it was going up beyond my belly so I just had to take all my clothes off and lie flat out 🫣 I’ve found a bath really helps me with all the aching and bloating though. I wish I could spend all day in it at the moment 😂

Anyone else got the burps?!

PPop · 15/01/2023 20:56

@SFCM I don't normally burp (it's a long standing joke because it all comes out the other end I literally cannot burp) but I have been having quite a few belch burps that taste a bit sicky but nothing really morning sickness like.
I have had terrible bowels though, loose and very very often! I'm so sorry this is tmi but it's all related! 😂

SFCM · 15/01/2023 21:06

@PPop 😂 it’s all so glamorous isn’t it?!

I’m the complete opposite, I think everything going on has put complete fear into my digestive system and it’s shut down. Went toilet for the first time in days this morning and the relief was indescribable! I think I’m getting a lot of trapped wind from it too so that’s not helping.

oh this is the best place to go into detail- I need to know what’s going on for everyone else! I just never imagined this was a thing. It makes complete sense but I’ve definitely been blindsided by it. Also it’s hard not being able to talk to any friends or family and see if they had it, so I’m very appreciative of this chat!

@PPop @SFCM
I'm not glad you're feeling like that but I'm also so glad you're feeling like I'm feeling hahah! I have been SO bloated, and been finding it hard to go to the loo but also have a lot of wind (which has made my partner see me in a whole different light!). It puts my mind at ease that you're going through the same thing with similar symptoms ❤️

I'm worried that the sickness will kick in in the next week or so - just in time for my trip to Rome 🤮 let's hope it doesn't!

@HattieRosa @SFCM I have literally felt so bloated I've wondered if I'm more pregnant then I thought as I've got a rather round (sometimes hard) belly! Oh no the bum end has not been delightful, people seem to go either constipated or very loose. I've gone loose, and I mean one day I counted 8 toilet visits for just that act!!! Horrifying! 😂
