Pregnancy

5 weeks today! Sep 23 Thread

Hi all, I found out I am expecting my second baby on Wednesday, and I'm 5 weeks today. Early days, but wanted to start a thread for those with similar due dates so we can go through the motions together. ☺️
I'm due 10th September. My little boy will be 2 and 3 quarters by then, so a good little age gap.

Any anxieties? For me, less so about the pregnancy this time around, far more chill. My anxiety is surrounding timing. Baby 2 wasn't planned for just now, but a happy surprise and very much wanted. However, the most instrumental career opportunity for me is coming up in the next 2-4 months or so, and I was hoping to get this role. It may or may not have come off anyway, but I don't want my pregnancy to be the determining factor (I don't think my company would outwardly discriminate, but they might find a 'business reason' I wasn't successful), so I ideally need to keep my pregnancy hidden from work for as long as possible. If I get the role, I will have no worries in taking Mat leave around August and return next year, as I know I'll do a damn good job for them once I'm back, and for the foreseeable future. Anyway... that's my one thing at the mo! ☺️

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Hello, joining today as we’ve just had a FRER positive test this evening at 10DPO! Calculators suggest 26th Sept as due date, so currently 3+2.

Completely in a state of shock/terror/excitement 😬 was our first cycle TTC and as stupid as it sounds, we did not expect this outcome!

I think we thought we’d have more time to learn about what to do once we were successful and now panicking as what to do next 😂

Congrats to everyone!

Congrats! My due date is coming up as 27th, so looks like we are in this together, similar circumstances being cycle 1 also. 😊

So the first one was Monday and the second one is today! So that's a good sign? I worked it out though that I'm 5 weeks so they count since conception whereas the measurement is since your last period?

@PPop when I had my scan they said I was more like 4 weeks, even though "officially" 6 weeks based on my last period. My HCG was 4000 when they did blood tests on Friday and 13464 yesterday!

@PPop I was 6 weeks on Friday when I had my early scan, but because I was actually more like 4 weeks (gestational) they couldn't see a lot

Hey!

I got my BFP on Monday for #2! DS is 2 in May. Was planning on TTC from this month, took us 7 months with our first so this slight whoops was a slight shock but a very welcome one!

EDD is 26th September ❤️

Had a MC at 5.5 weeks before my DS so I’m feeling a little anxious but hopeful and trying to be positive.

Congrats all xx

@Lal33 congrats! also seen your EDD @mummmmyj is same as mine 🥳 I read a statistic the other day that only a very small % of babies actually arrive on due date but nice to speak to others who are at the same point. How are you both finding it so far?

@PPop I’m trying to hold off on the digital until I’m sure it’ll say 3+, but I’m awful with all the dates. I’m guessing they don’t include the two weeks prior to conception so currently I think I’d only show as 2 weeks. Also my natural cycles app switched to pregnancy and this morning it decided to tell me I’m 4 weeks and in my 5th week of pregnancy which really threw me 😂 I’ve never been great with timing.

we’ve booked a 6 week private scan just to make sure everything is in the right place 🤞🏼 But now worried it won’t show much as like @HattieRosa I’d only technically be 4 weeks at the time, but also don’t think my anxiety won’t let me wait any longer 😬

@SFCM I have my scan next Friday! The 27th I will going by period date 6weeks 5 days... hope I can see enough but I can't wait any longer!
I did ask on the phone and she said that that would be fine and 6 weeks from the date of period is what they look for.

@SFCM my first defo didn’t come on his EDD haha and it changed after my dating scan by a few days so I’m taking this with a pinch of salt. I’m feeling “normal”.. I had a really “easy” pregnancy with my first up until around 36 weeks and then it went complicated and ended up with a failed induction and c section during covid so I think I’m feeling a little anxious about what’s to come and don’t feel like I’ll be as lucky this time with a sick free pregnancy 😂🙏

Hope you’re ok and this goes nice and fast to the 12 week scan for all of us (I’m defo gonna book a scan in for around 7 weeks though!). I did one at 6 weeks last time and it was a little bit too early to see anything so made me more anxious than reassured so don’t wanna do that to myself again!

@PPop yeah and hopefully because you’ll be closer to the 7 week mark you’ll get an even clearer reading. Pls let us know how you get on, I’m excited for you! 🥳

I was on the pill for years and then only had 1 full cycle before we conceived, and this second cycle was predicted to be a lot shorter than the first so I dunno if that effects timing either. I really don’t understand any of it 😂 I’ll just wait for them to tell me where we’re at and keep guessing till then.

PPop · 17/01/2023 21:15

@SFCM it's funny as this was our 5th cycle I think, came off the pill and went for it! But this cycle was different as I had so much cervical mucas it was ridiculous, I had such a good feeling because of it... turned out I got it bang on.
I think we conceived on Christmas Day because of the CM but not sure the timings work...

I am so excited I just want everything to be fine! ❤️

SFCM · 17/01/2023 21:40

@mummmmyj I know, I keep telling myself I shouldn’t get attached to the 26th but I think it might be a little late for that! 😂 I just couldn’t believe how few actually arrive when predicted, I think it was just 4%. I’m often not on time so I imagine if they’re anything like me they’ll definitely not stick to the schedule either!

That sounds really tough, i think it’s completely understandable to feel anxious. I have so much admiration for everyone who was pregnant and having babies during covid. Got my go fingers crossed for you the sickness doesn’t hit 🤞🏼

yeah I’m worried that I’ve booked too early but also really don’t think I’ll be able to wait a day longer. That’s the biggest thing I’m struggling with, all the anticipation and the days feel like they’re dragging!

@PPop ah I love that 🎄the best Christmas present!

@SFCM Getting on okay, but still not getting my hopes up.

I'm all over the place with dating, I think I'm 'officially' 4 weeks today, but Natural Cycles and BabyCentre app say slightly different things despite being populated with the same data.

When can I stop worrying about a CP and start worrying about something else 🤣🤣

Also can't work out when I can have an early reassurance scan - I'm thinking 8w but is that 8w as per LMP or since conception? I've a pretty clear idea of conception due to confirmed O and also a complete emotional breakdown that exactly coincided with when conception would have been. Totally irrational, out of character and (at the time) unexplained.

Did anyone else suffer a weird hormone surge when they think they conceived?

Has anyone told their nearest and dearest?

I've told my friend in New Zealand, and my Mum and Dad (plus the lass who does my lashes- she guessed as I've lost loads and needed the loo mid-appointment. Apparently the hormone surge can lead to lash extensions falling off 🤣🤣)

I know it's only early, but equally I don't want it to be taboo - sht happens all the time and I think I'd rather have the support, than go through it completely alone (except DP, but I need strong women around me!)

Only told Dad as he would go batsh
t if he found out mum had known ages, I know this from experience when I announced my intention to leave my ExH 🤣🤣

@Lal33 it’s a hard place isn’t it? Naturally so exciting but then every time I do get excited I’m like no, reign it back in 😣 now I’m just trying hard to distract myself entirely.

We aren’t telling anyone just yet. My husband is very superstitious so to him it’s the 12 week mark, but I’ve always been very much of the mind like you, if something happens then I’d rather be able to talk about it than be lonely with it. I’ve told a couple of people that we don’t know personally (scan centre, our travel agent for a holiday we’ve got booked) and it really unnerved me and didn’t sit quite right so I don’t think I’m ready just yet. Also as 12 week mark is the week of Mother’s Day I’m feeling like that would be a nice time to announce, but also so far off 😩 Who knows, just gonna see what each week brings and go off what we’re feeling at the time I guess.

Crazy about your lashes! It’s amazing the things it can do. I thought we’d missed the boat and didn’t have anything except really pointy nips 🤣 until around the time I tested, which was 9DPO and I was cramping a lot and crying for no reason.

If it’s a private scan, I know ours is 6 weeks onwards, using the last period calculation, but might vary depending on who you have it with. So technically only 4 weeks, but it seems like some people get a reading at that time and some don’t. I would be waiting a bit longer if my impatience would let me but I’m booked in literally for the 6 week mark 😬

Hi to everyone joining the September baby club!
I just wondered where everyone is at symptom wise. I'm 6+4 and this is my second pregnancy and I'm sure by this point I was more nauseous. I only get the occasional wave so far, if that! As much as I don't want to be nauseous, the obvious symptoms do reassure!
I am so thirsty and hungry all the time.
Definite bloating situ going on. I already look 12 weeks!! Which again, didn't happen with my first at this stage.
Can't help but compare and worry a little. But I know each pregnancy can be different. What about you all?

@rosycheek93
Exactly the same! I was so nauseous by now with my first and only the off wave this time which is nice but also, some more symptoms would be reassuring at least...

@RosyCheeks93 my first pregnancy I had hyperemesis so at this point I was feeling nauseous already. I’m only 4.5 weeks and I have no symptoms. So it feels very odd and weirdly I miss the nausea for reassurance. I really hope I don’t end with hyperemesis again though.
wishing you lots of luck and the bloating looks quite cute!

@RosyCheeks93 you are describing my 1st and 2nd pregnancies perfectly. First had lots of reassuring symptoms, second had nothing. I was terrified going into the 12 week scan. This time I just have sore boobs. A random day of nausea but nothing since.
