5 weeks today! Sep 23 Thread

Hi all, I found out I am expecting my second baby on Wednesday, and I'm 5 weeks today. Early days, but wanted to start a thread for those with similar due dates so we can go through the motions together. ☺️
I'm due 10th September. My little boy will be 2 and 3 quarters by then, so a good little age gap.

Any anxieties? For me, less so about the pregnancy this time around, far more chill. My anxiety is surrounding timing. Baby 2 wasn't planned for just now, but a happy surprise and very much wanted. However, the most instrumental career opportunity for me is coming up in the next 2-4 months or so, and I was hoping to get this role. It may or may not have come off anyway, but I don't want my pregnancy to be the determining factor (I don't think my company would outwardly discriminate, but they might find a 'business reason' I wasn't successful), so I ideally need to keep my pregnancy hidden from work for as long as possible. If I get the role, I will have no worries in taking Mat leave around August and return next year, as I know I'll do a damn good job for them once I'm back, and for the foreseeable future. Anyway... that's my one thing at the mo! ☺️

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

@Daisy0909 I’m completely zonked too. I’ve been resting and sleeping so much this weekend. My job is 60-70hours a week, and every 6th week I do about 90. I’m finding it really hard. We are also short staffed at the moment. I’ve asked for help in work and told ‘my concern has been escalated’ but I know nothing’s going to change. I feel like I’m going to have to take sick leave, which is so unlike me. And I’m not sick, just exhausted. The house desperately needs to be cleaned.
I’m 9+3. Maybe another couple of weeks, I’ll be a Duracell bunny again?

Daisy0909 · 19/02/2023 20:12

@Purplegiraffes wow that sounds like a lot without then being pregnant on top! Surely your employer have a duty of care, do they know you're expecting?

Maraudingmarauders · 19/02/2023 21:14

@Purplegiraffes those hours are crazy. I used to work similar and would be completely incapable with how I currently feel. I'm not surprised youre struggling.

@suz2285 I'm so sorry you're having such a stressful time. Wishing you well for your next scan!

Guys I need some reassurance please
look at my test today 14 dpo (period due today)

I got bfp at 10 dpo with strong lines
and I tracked my ovulation days so I’m sure with the dates are correct

I suffered from chemical pregnancy last month so I’m so worried right now
I don’t know if I should be happy or sad look at my pregnancy tests
am I having another chemical pregnancy
last month the lines were very faint and bled on 14 dpo (period day)
I feel like the lines on 13 and 14 are lighter

the digital clear blue 2-3 and the second picture is from today 14 dpo

Hi @Nay123

sorry not much help but know mumsnet is much quieter at night and didn’t want to leave you hanging.

I don’t have much knowledge of chemicals so hopefully someone else that does will comment, but I just wanted to say based off my experience, those tests including today’s first response are really strong and I personally wouldn’t be worried. They’re much stronger than mine were at that point! And it took me longer to get the 2-3 week on a digital, I think I was 3 weeks post ovulation before it showed up so 14dpo sounds good!

it’s a horrible time waiting with all the worry of what’s going to happen so please look after yourself and let us know how you get on ❤️

FarmBaby3 · 20/02/2023 08:22

@Nay123 my tests varied depending on how much I had to drink the day before, if I had been up during the night for the toilet and when in the morning I tested. Those are strong lines. I had to stop testing as it was making my anxiety really bad. I got a few digitals and used them every week until I got 3+ then I stopped testing.

Good luck x

NessiSD · 20/02/2023 08:52

@Nay123 congratulations, they look good to me! I had a CP in November. Did one test on the day my period was due with a digital and got a BFP, did no other tests until 2/3 days later. Just had a weird feeling and then got negatives and AF started a few hours later. Because I only did one test on original AF day I have no way of knowing progression. I would say that your progression is looking good! I then got another BFP in Jan and checked my progression. Now I'm 8+4 and having my first scan in a few hours. I understand the anxiety! Do another digital when you expect to get 3+. Good luck!

Daisy155 · 20/02/2023 09:12

Good luck @NessiSD I hope everything goes smoothly for you today and sorry @Nay123 the lines look good to me but I’m also not familiar with CP so not so sure what I should be looking for on the test!

I hope all goes smoothly for you as well in the next coming days x

Daisy0909 · 20/02/2023 09:22

@NessiSD Good luck!

@suz2285 Hope all goes well today xx

suz2285 · 20/02/2023 10:48

Thank you @Daisy0909

Unfortunately we had a scan this morning which showed baby has stopped growing around a week ago, no heartbeat so now just waiting for the rest to happen naturally and then see how we feel

I'm ok, I think I knew over the weekend something wasn't right so I'm sad but I'm happy that we know and that there doesn't seem to be any issues just one of those things

Bless you, sending love your way! If you don't mind how many weeks were you? Was you having strange mucus style discharge?

suz2285 · 20/02/2023 11:02

@Sadiexox 8+3 but looks like baby stopped growing somewhere around 7 weeks, I was having spotting and brown bleeding similar to early period/last day of period with some red, but I wouldn't say it was a lot of blood it was just when I wiped so most cases it's probably nothing to worry about for most people as I know spotting can be common

Daisy0909 · 20/02/2023 11:04

@suz2285 Sorry to hear and sending all my love, I'm sure everything will feel very up & down for a while, make sure you take care of yourself during this time xxx

NessiSD · 20/02/2023 12:20

@suz2285 sorry to hear that. Sending lots of love and hugs!

Just come back from mine. Not really the outcome we were hoping for. It's inconclusive, she asked me when my last period was and we could see a sack and measured it at 7 weeks so now I'm a week and a half behind than I thought. But we couldn't really see anything in the sack on the internal. She recommended coming back in two weeks as it could have implanted later and said to ask my GP for a blood test. I have the first midwife appointment on Sunday. Do you recommend that I call them and ask for advice? Feeling a bit confused!

Daisy0909 · 20/02/2023 12:45

@NessiSD did they do internal or external scan? - Not that I have any experience with either as I've chosen to wait

The midwife takes blood and a urine sample but I don't know whether the blood test checks hcg, I'd probably ring the GP and ask for bloods if I were in your position x

suz2285 · 20/02/2023 12:47

@NessiSD was it a private scan? Might be worth calling the midwife and asking, if you go to EPU they would do a test for pregnancy hormones in this case and check if they're doubling before doing another scan

Sorry it's inconclusive, that's kinda where I was a few days ago and it totally sucks, I would def call and ask for advice they might refer you to an EPU if you have one near you they're so very helpful x

NessiSD · 20/02/2023 13:16

@suz2285 @Daisy0909 the scan was private and did external first and then internal. I wish I had kind of waited now and went along with the normal process, but I called the midwife for advice who have asked me to ring the GP to get a referral to EPU. I may just not be as far as I think. So now just waiting to get through to GP. Not sure how long it takes for a referral to go through but EPU will do another scan. I think they will cancel my first midwife appointment now until they know what's going on. Keeping an open mind about this now. Thanks for the advice X

suz2285 · 20/02/2023 13:56

@NessiSD good plan! EPU are usually very quick so hopefully get some answers soon, everything crossed for you! 🤞

Purplegiraffes · 20/02/2023 18:55

@suz2285 Sorry to hear your sad news. Take care of yourself.

Daisy155 · 20/02/2023 20:51

@suz2285 I am so sorry 😞 to hear about you and the baby. Please take care of yourself throughout this process xx

@NessiSD my first scan they couldn’t see anything and dated the scan 2 we thought we were 6 weeks and some days and they said we were a week and a few days back.

we went back after 10 days and all was ok, I hope when you go back you get a conclusive answer.

it’s so hard to wait and you think about all the possibilities but time will go by fast and you will find out soon.

sending you both lots of love!

Maraudingmarauders · 21/02/2023 10:42

How is everyone feeling today? I've got my official scan tomorrow, which I'm both excited and nervous for. I feel like my nausea etc has improved a lot, though I'm still having to eat throughout the day to keep it at bay. But I feel slightly more human. I'm hoping scan tomorrow will reassure me that is everything progressing at it should rather than the pregnancy itself in problems.
I'm also having to remind myself that tomorrow's scan won't be the end of all my concerns, and to think you then don't have another until 20weeks is crazy. But at least you should start to get a belly as proof...

I'm trying to focus on my diet at the moment. I wouldn't say I'm a bad eater, but it has made me conscious of a lack of greenery at times! So making a concerted effort to eat extra veg. I made a nice boiled egg, new potato, green bean and lettuce salad yesterday with a mustard dressing which went down a treat.

Daisy0909 · 21/02/2023 11:11

@Maraudingmarauders How exciting!! I've still a week & a few days to go until mine and I feel like I'm counting down the days! Totally understand the mixture of emotions though, I know we'll probably all feel the same.

That sounds like a good nutritious meal, I'm struggling to keep stuff down through the day so I'm currently just eating dry toast through the day.. 😒and then tea time I'm just eating whatever I can stomach which is 90% carbs - I feel so guilty about it but at the moment I can't bear the idea of veg.. I normally love a salad too!

I'm 9w6d and my dating scan isn't until I'm exactly 13 weeks! I feels so damn far away, got my booking in appointment this Sunday. I hate this waiting! Might have to have another private scan 🤣

ShellNor · 21/02/2023 11:48

Hi Ladies, Joining the thread. We have our first official scan on friday and im a little nervous for it (first child). So many things that I'm overthinking about so I thought finding a community of sorts would be helpful 😊
If anyone has any tips for the constant nausea i'd try about anything at this point. Eating much more then bread makes everything worse so im hoping that all eases off soon. I miss my veggies!

Is anyone else finding it a little hard to be excited? the timing could have been better for us, we werent expecting it to happen so soon. Were going to be doing an international re-location at around 35 weeks so thats bugging me a lot!

Just wanted to pop on and say the exact same thing has happened to me, confirmed at EPU yesterday but I had already suspected. Sounds like we have gone through exactly the same thing. I'm so sorry xx
